Lights (bathing) - perennial plant with very beautiful flowers of yellow or bright orange color.

The people call the swimsuit lights, but it has other names: Siberian rose, bells, balabolki, troll flower, frying. The flowers of Siberia, by the way, have an interesting legend connected with one of their names: the lights are called the flower of trolls, because forest dwarfs brew their magic potion of life in these colors.

Consider everything about this amazing flower: types and varieties, characteristics, advantages, growing on the site (reproduction and care).

Bathing characteristics

Here are the main indicators of the plant:

  • Family: buttercups,
  • Type: perennial,
  • Blooming time: the end of spring - the beginning of summer,
  • Height: up to 1 meter
  • Advantages: beautiful, bright flowers and unpretentiousness,
  • An interesting fact: the bathing suit is depicted on the emblem of the city of Shelekhov of the Irkutsk region, and the Asian swimsuit was depicted on Soviet stamps.

The bathing ground is a herbaceous plant with a strong root system. She is prefers wet places: meadows, swamps, shores of water bodies. Perhaps this is one of the reasons for the name of the plant.

By the way, the lights always keep the stem straight, it is necessary to preserve the favorable conditions inside the flower, and insects that live in the bud often use this.

Types and varieties of lights

In total there are about thirty varieties of bathing. Consider the main ones, the most popular.

  • Asian. Basically, such a swimsuit grows in Siberia. It has rich orange flowers. It also grows in the Alps, Mongolia and the Urals. Here in spring and early summer you can see huge fields with bright blooming lights.
  • Chinese. This swimsuit can be seen in Japan, China, Ussuri region. It starts blooming around July and continues to bloom for about 36 days.
  • European. Flowers have a bright lemon-yellow color, they bloom from May to June and grow in the temperate zone of Russia, as well as in the countries of Scandinavia.
  • Altai. It grows in the mountains in the Altai. Bright orange, but has a distinctive feature - a dark spot in the center of the flower.

There are many more cultivated varieties of this flower: from cream to bright orange and reddish.

Breeding

Now very often, these flowers were planted on their site. Of course, the easiest way to dig up seedlings and transplant them yourself or buy ready-made seedlings. But if this is not possible, the plant will have to be grown by seed. However, there are lights and lack of - germination at swimsuit seeds is low. It is best to sow the seeds in the fall.

You can do this in the spring, but then you need a stratification of seeds. To do this, you need to keep the seeds in the sand at a temperature of 3-5 degrees for 3 months. In March, the seeds can be sown in a greenhouse or boxes, sprinkled with earth. In a month, shoots will appear. If necessary, the plants dive. On the 3rd - 4th year the lights bloom. By the way, swimsuits are nested in several pieces at a distance of about 50 cm from each other.

Since the lights - an unpretentious plant, caring for them is not at all difficult.

The plant during the drought requires watering. And also need to regularly carry out weeding from the weeds, loosening, fertilizing with mineral and potash fertilizers every 5 years, and also the flower requires pruning.

By the way, lights like light. The larger it is, the more abundant flowering, the stronger, taller and stronger the plant. Despite the fact that the bathing vessel is a shade-tolerant plant, it develops much better in the light, and in the shade the growth occurs slowly, and the plant is not so strong. Bathing suits are perfectly combined with some garden herbs and flowers, especially with blue and blue, for example, with bells, delphiniums, catchment, oatmeal, scilla and others.

The benefits of bathing

It is not surprising that many different cultivars of this plant were bred and that it is popular, because the lights have a number of advantages:

  • beautiful, lush and bright bloom,
  • unpretentiousness
  • disease resistance
  • medicinal properties.

Unpretentiousness and disease resistance is hot - important advantages, especially in the harsh climate of Siberia, because the lights are not for nothing called the Siberian rose: they combine beauty and durability. At the same time, they are pleased with their bright and abundant flowering for a long time.

What is bathing

In addition to beautiful flowers, frying flowers are used as an excellent remedy for edemas, bruises, wounds, skin lesions, and tinctures are prepared from it for the treatment of liver and other diseases. That's because the leaves and flowers have a large amount of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. In medicine, use both the leaves and flowers of the plant.

Very beautiful lights look on Alpine slides, mixborders, flower beds. Particularly interesting they look in combination with some other herbs, flowers and elements of the landscape.

Thus, the lights - gorgeous, bright, unpretentious flowers that look great on the site and in the wild, their buds look like a hot flame. In addition, they have a lot of advantages and useful properties for which both gardeners and doctors value them so much.

Lights, bathing, frying, balabolki ... What is common between these words? And these are different versions of the name of the plant that blooms in many regions of our Siberia. But here "lights"Is the most common name for this mysterious flower. Scientists dubbed this plant the name "bathing", but the primary Latin version sounds very different, very fabulous.

Siberian lights

The scientific name of the swimsuit is trollyus. Perhaps it comes from the German word trollblume, which in Russian means “flower of trolls”. Any child will tell you who the trolls are. It turns out that these are fabulous forest dwarfs. There is also a legend about them: it is said that forest fairytale inhabitants in a dense forest are said to be preparing the elixir of life in every flower. This elixir seems to boil at the bottom of a flower without fire. But perhaps the Latin name could also come from the Latin word trulleus, which translates as "ball." In fact, the flower of the plant has the shape of a ball. ”

Siberian lights

A swimsuit is a perennial herb of the buttercup family. It grows very much in the temperate zone of Europe, Asia and America. First of all, it is possible to meet a bathing vessel in places where there is a lot of water - areas associated with water: wet meadows, banks of reservoirs, shaded forest edges. Probably, from here and went such a “wet” name.

Asian swimsuit

There are more than 30 botanical species of this plant in the world, in our country about 19 are known.

Asian swimsuit

There is a European bath, there is an Asian, there is an Altai and there is a Chinese. In our Siberian forests and in the meadows only the Asian swimsuit grows with bright orange flowers. It begins to bloom usually at the end of May and this period lasts for only 2-3 weeks. The Asian bathing house, for example, is the main symbol of the coat of arms of the city of Shelekhov in the Irkutsk region.

Coat of arms of Shelekhov

A bathhouse never tilts a flower, it always keeps it straight. This is necessary in order to maintain the most favorable conditions inside. As a result, there you can always see insects - an interesting object for observation. Scientists have found a lot of varieties of cultural bathing. You just can not imagine how beautiful they are: large bright buds and "carved" green leaves. This flower is generally very unpretentious. Among the bred varieties are famous pale cream, pale - or bright yellow color and, of course, the closest color to us - bright orange.

Lights

The bathing vessel is a very disease-resistant plant. In addition, she herself can treat so many ailments - leaves and flowers contain a large amount of alkaloids, flavanoids and vitamins. That's just, with their help, preparing infusions for the treatment of liver diseases, edema, bruises and wounds. Probably it was not for nothing that the legends about the elixir of life were born.

Soviet stamp depicting Asian swimsuit

In official medicine, the Asian swimsuit does not apply. But in folk medicine in Western Siberia, this flower is used as a choleretic in liver disease and as a remedy for edema. Tincture of the herb causes dilation of the vessels of the liver, reduces the tone of the smooth muscles of the intestine and gallbladder. In Tibetan medicine, flowers are used to reduce vision, and leaves and flowers in the decoction for abdominal pain. But in Mongolian medicine, swimsuit flowers are used in the disorder of the gastrointestinal tract and blood diseases. The plant is prescribed as a general tonic agent for debilitated patients. In the Altai region, water infusion of the grass of the swimsuit Asian is used as a diuretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-scorbital remedy, and in the form of poultices - from bruises. In Altai, the flower has a fairly extensive range and sometimes even occurs quite abundantly. However, there is its rapid disappearance, due to the presence of nearby settlements. To reduce the number of populations also leads to a massive pulling out on bouquets, digging for the purpose of transferring to private household plots.

Asian swimsuit

In one of the villages of the Novosibirsk region there was a tradition to come to the last bell with a bouquet of beautiful orange lights. And the Siberian inhabitants are striving to preserve this Siberian rose. In Buryatia, the lights are already rare and, therefore, the species was listed in the Red Book of Buryatia in the Irkutsk Region.

Siberian lights

Still, this Siberian flower is so beautiful that it is impossible to resist its beauty and not to pluck it. Sometimes, driving through the Siberian forests in the spring, you can see "fiery" fields. Our Siberian roses are blooming.

Place in the garden

The bathing vessel prefers light and moderately lighted areas - it grows well in the open under the sun, and in the light tracery shade of the trees. At the same place without a transplant can grow about 10 years. The height of the bush depends on the intensity of illumination and soil fertility. In a bright place and good land, the bathing place grows large and spreading.

Prefers light soils, nutritious loams, with acid or weakly acid reaction (pH 4.5-6.5). It grows very well near water bodies, but not in a shady nizinka, but on a light hill. The bathing vessel, despite its name, does not like swampy places, when water stagnates for a long time in the roots, the soil should be well drained, if the groundwater is not deep.

Care for a bathing suit

The main method of care is the annual soil mulching. The swimsuit has a superficial rhizome, which over time rises from the ground so that it does not freeze and does not dry out on hot days, in spring and autumn the bushes mulch with humus soil (compost).

In the summer in hot dry weather the bathing suit needs to be watered. And if there is a need for high stalks of the swimsuit tie up.

In October, the leaves can be cut, the roots mulch with humus or peat, adding 2 tablespoons. spoon ash, and then, if necessary (if too harsh winters), cover with spruce branches.

Swimsuits demonstrate an endless variety of yellow and orange colors in a noble combination with many shades of green.

Swimsuits - meadow plants, and meadows are very characteristic for landscapes of Russia. Swimsuit can be found in Russia almost everywhere, especially in damp meadows and forest glades.

Swimsuit It is widespread in various natural zones: from tundra to deserts, from foothills to high mountains, in the forest belt, near glaciers and snowfields, in alpine and subalpine meadows.

Swimsuits demonstrate an endless variety of yellow and orange colors in a noble combination with many shades of green. They are beautiful in any weather, but are especially good against the background of bright blue sky, near rivers, streams, ponds and forest lakes. Yellow color is active, it causes vigorous, joyful feelings, orange - a feeling of warmth, like the color of a fire or the setting sun.

A bathing ground is a grassy perennial belonging to the Buttercup family. The habitat of its subspecies is vast. A swimsuit can be found throughout the northern hemisphere. It grows in forests, on mountain slopes, meadows, along rivers of Europe, Asia and America. In some countries, the bathing pool is already listed in the Red Book.

In its natural habitat, the bathing vessel has about twenty varieties, but only a few garden forms are grown in culture. Greater prevalence has found a bathing place European. To fully understand the characteristics of this culture, consider what are the features of the external structure of the European swimsuit:

The bathing place owes its spectacularity to flowers. They are moderately large (up to 8 cm in diameter), bright yellow or juicy orange. Like other representatives of the Buttercup family, the color intensity is focused on the sepals, not the petals.

The bathing corolla is formed of 5-20 petal-shaped sepals. They lean heavily on each other, arranged in a spiral. After flowering sepals fall.

The shape of the flower is spherical, it can be half-open or fully open. Inside the bud are thin petals of a linear shape, which are turned into nectaries.

The fruit of the bathing vessel is spherical stem consisting of leaflets tightly overlapping each other. The seeds are very small, their color is black, the surface is glossy.

The leaves are bathing palmaterazvelennye, grass color. Leaves go from the root zone. On the flower shoot, the foliage is located only in the upper part, which turns into a flower.

During the flowering period, the bathing vessel spreads a light, subtle scent of freshness.

An important feature of the swimsuit is its toxicity. Its juice can cause burns on the skin and mucous membranes, so all landing work should be carried out with gloves.

Single-species yaoskadki swimsuits are decorative with large stains in the form of free painting groups in landscape compositions, with alternating open and closed spaces. Mono-species groups are freely placed in open places, including the lighted edges of natural or artificial tree plantings.

Swimsuits are good in combination with stone. Ideally, slides should imitate the natural scattering of stones and fragments of vegetation. When creating such compositions can be recommended combinations of bathing suits with low, ground-covering plants.

In the foreground - undersized perennials, followed by swimsuits, and in the background, more tall, later flowering perennials with preferably decorative leaves in shape and color.

On the slides, the bathing vessel is decorative in combination with badan in the foreground. One of the valuable properties of swimsuits is the ability to create unique, long-fading bouquets. Decorative bouquet until all buds wither. A bouquet of bathing suits is picturesque and unique.

Partners:

spectacular landings with Magonia, Spireas, Lilac. When planting, it should be noted that in the middle of the summer, the swimsuits lose their decorative effect. Therefore, they are recommended to be planted in the background. Decorative combinations with cushion plants in the foreground.

In combination with bathing suits bells can be used. In front of the swimsuits, you can plant ground cover plants: a silver falcon, a green perennial with abundant flowering and fruiting, or a field spade, or Biberstein's yaksol, or Crimean edelweiss.

Yaskolka is also spruce-like, blooming in June-July and forming a covering up to 10 cm high. As a ground-cover plant it is possible to recommend Evers sedum up to 20-25 cm high, blooming from June to July for a month, or hybrid hybrid - ground-blooming perennial.

The genus has its own biological features. Currently, 19 species and 7 varieties of swimsuits are grown in the gardens of Russia and the near abroad.

According to their habitat, wild swimsuits are divided into swimsuits:

European part of Russia and the Caucasus:

  • European bath (Trollius europaeus),
  • highest bathing (Trollius altissimus),
  • half-open bath (Troilius patulus)

Siberia and Central Asia:

  • Asian bath (Trollius asiaticus),
  • Altai bathing (Trollius altaicus),
  • Dzungar bath (Trollius dschungaricus),
  • Lilac bath (Troltius lilacinus),
  • stemless bathing vessel (Troltius acaulis),
  • dwarf bath (Trollius pumilus)

Far East:

  • Chinese bath (Troltius chinensis),
  • large-bathing bath (Trollius macropetalus),
  • Ledebura bath (Trollius ledebourii),
  • Reader bath,
  • beautiful bathing (Trollius pulcher).

Lighting: Despite the fact that in nature swimming baths live in semi-shaded places, they are recommended to be grown in culture in open, lighted places in front of trees or shrubs, large patches of grass, single specimens among stones.

During growth and flowering, when the soil is close to drying, watering is needed. Всходы всех купальниц нуждаются в поливе и в притенении. Купальницы прекрасно зимуют. Они не требуют укрытия. На постоянном месте без пересадки купальницы могут расти очень долго.

Seeds are sown immediately after harvest or in winter in the ground or in boxes. When sowing in spring, stratification of seeds is necessary for 3-4 months at a temperature of 2-4 ° C. Seedlings appear in spring (seeds germinate difficult, seedlings are usually not friendly).

Unlike European, Altai, Asian, and Dzhungar bathing suits, requiring cold period for seeds to germinate, the close-up swimsuit, Ledebour, Reader can be sown successfully in spring.

Friendly shoots appear in mid-May. The shoots of all the bathing suits need watering when the soil dries out and in shading. After the appearance of the second true leaf, the seedlings dive at a distance of 8-10 cm from each other. Planted plants can be planted in the spring of the second year or in the third and fourth year.

European swimsuits, Ledebura, Dzungarian bloom in the second year after germination. In the first year of flowering, swimsuits have one peduncle with a single flower. With age, the number of peduncles increases, often they become branched. The apical flower blooms first, while the buds appear on the side branches.

The branching of the main shoot increases its beauty. At the same time, flowering time increases. At a permanent place without a transplant, bathing suits can grow up to 10 years or more, expanding every year, after which the curtain should be divided and transplanted to a new place.

One method of vegetative propagation considered curtain division or separation from an adult plant of several peripheral shoots with roots. Almost all swimsuits have the same type of root system. This is a brush perennial perennial with many cord-shaped roots.

Shoots are located on the periphery of the curtain. The diameter of the plant in the aerial part depends on its age. In middle-aged plants, it is 15-30 cm. At the same time, the living central part of the curtain is preserved. It is at this age (about 5 years of cultivation), when the vitality of the plant is great, it should be multiplied, divided into parts.

Old, weakened plants should not be propagated. It is best to divide the clump in August and early September, when the shoots of the next year are formed in the buds and there is time until winter for rooting. The maternal plant needs to be dug, shaken off the ground from its roots. Rinse the root system thoroughly.

The plant is divided with a knife into several parts. The size of the landing units can be arbitrary. It is important that each of them has several rosette shoots with roots. The cut surface should be treated with a solution of potassium permanganate. Good results are obtained with ash treatment.

Prepared planting material should not dry out. Plant plants need to quickly, the seats must be prepared in advance. When planting, the root neck is buried by 2 cm, maintaining a distance when planting 30-40 cm.

The leaves are cut, the growth of new leaves begins two weeks after planting. On the cuttings take young ground shoots that appear in the spring, and summer rosettes with a part of the underground stem. Respond well to fertilizing with mineral fertilizers.

Transplanting Bathtub - Trollius

The soil: bathing suits are very plastic and, when grown in culture, do not require special agrotechnical measures. In addition, environmental conditions are not always the ecological ideal for bathing suits. The most favorable for the cultivation of swimsuits are light or medium loamy, structural, with a high content of soil humus.

The swimsuits grow well on rich, light in terms of the mechanical composition of soils that are close to neutral in acidity. However, swimsuits grow on soils poor in humus. They benefit from a mixture of leafy land with peat and sand. You can add sphagnum to the earth mixture, which, by sucking in water, is able to retain moisture longer than the soil.

The soil under perennial swimsuits does not dig over a long period of time and requires weeding.

Land before planting should be completely cleared of the roots and rhizomes of perennial plants previously grown here.

The most drought-resistant plants, such as the Dzhungar bathing vessel, the Altai bathing vessel, prefer drained soil without stagnant groundwater. By the way, the stagnation of groundwater is bad for other swimsuits.

A good landing place for swimsuits is considered to be low slides or just beds of plants on the background of stones of different shapes and sizes. Artificial relief improves aeration. Conditions that prevent the stagnation of water. Limestone as the basis of artificial relief reduces the acidity of the soil and improves growing conditions.

For sowing seeds and growing seedlings, it is better to create a lighter soil, the components of which will be peat and sand in combination: two parts of peat, two parts of sand, one part of the earth.

Swimsuits - plants are strong and viable and are practically not damaged by diseases. For a better condition of the plants, early spring treatment with ashes, fertilizing with nitrogen fertilizers during spring growth are recommended, and further complex fertilizers should be used.

At the beginning of flowering, it is desirable to sprinkle plants with epin (10 drops per 1 liter of water). In order to prevent fungal diseases, it is recommended to remove old dead leaves in autumn. In rare cases, the swimsuit may be affected by smut, Septoria, penetrating short-nematode.

It consists in weeding, irrigation, loosening the soil. At a distance of 10 cm from the bushes, the loosening depth should be no more than 3-5 cm, since the plant has many surface roots that can be damaged. The soil should be constantly mulched with a layer of peat or humus.

For good development requires systematic addition of nutrient land to the base of the bushes. The culture is moisture-loving, so watering is reduced only by autumn. For secondary flowering, it is necessary to cut out faded flower stalks. All types of swimsuits are fairly cold-resistant, so they overwinter without shelter.

At a permanent place, swimsuits grow well for up to 10 years or more, after which it is desirable to divide the curtain and transplant it to a new location. The leaves of the swimsuit are decorative throughout the growing season. In September-October, the leaves die off, and only after that they can be cut, leaving the base of the petioles 2–3 cm above the soil surface.

They become the protection located in the center of the bud escape of the kidney. From this bud the next year the peduncle is formed. If you cut the leaves that have not completed the growing season, this will significantly weaken the bud, and next year we will not get a well-developed peduncle.

April. Removal of shelters from autumn crops. Soil mulching between adult plants. Plant nutrition with nitrogen fertilizers.

May. Weeding, picking, mulching, watering in dry weather.

June. Weeding, watering if necessary.

July. Preparation of new seats if vegetative reproduction is necessary by dividing adult curtains (once every 10 years).

August. Collection of seeds, division of curtains, landing on a new place.

September. Collecting seeds, sowing seeds, dividing a curtain when planting in a new place, picking up seedlings for 2-3 years.

October. Sowing seeds, their light shelter with spruce or peat. Composting The introduction of lime in acidic soil.

November. Sowing seeds, their easy shelter. The introduction of complex fertilizers: superphosphate, ash, and so on.

Bathing vessel: flower photo, plant description, how to grow, plant, care

The names of this type of flower, there is a huge variety: light, hot color, Siberian rose. The scientists gave their name to this beautiful plant - bathing.

Currently, there are several hypotheses about the appearance of the scientific name of the plant. The first version is rather unusual. The German word trollblume, translated into Russian, means "flower of trolls." Based on one ancient legend, many have suggested that the bathing vessel was the most beloved plant of the fairytale troll heroes.

The basis of the second version is the assumption about the origin of the culture from the lat. trulleus. The exact translation is the word “bowl,” which accurately describes the shape of a rounded flower.

Based on the Russian version, the bathing place got its name due to the numerous flowering plants falling on the Slavic traditional holiday, Ivan Kupala. The simplest explanation of the name of this crop can be considered the fact that the plant is most often located on wet plots of land (brooks, rivers) and blooms profusely with the opening of the bathing season.

General characteristics of the plant

  • This type of culture belongs to the family of buttercups,
  • The flower’s birthplace are: Asia, Europe and North America,
  • The plant has a short rhizome and straight stem,
  • The shape of the leaves is often lobed.
  • Leaflets are ball-shaped
  • The bathing vessel propagates by means of cuttings, division and seeds,
  • In preferences for lighting the area where the flower grows, you should stay on the floor of the shady area,
  • Culture prefers abundant watering and is winter-hardy,
  • The bathhouse blooms from late spring to the beginning of the summer season.

The bathing-ground is one of the most popular flowers for garden cultures. Often, when you make a site, a flower is planted in small groups. They perfectly complement the alpine hills and curb areas of front gardens. Particularly advantageous looks garden representative near water bodies and under the green foliage of trees.

The flower is a perennial and forms a shrub. On average, the height of this plant reaches from 25 to 160 centimeters. In the root outlet, upright stems and rich green leaves grow in abundance. By the beginning of flowering buds appear, forming a spherical shape. Most often they appear in an amount of from 1 to 2 flowers. The size on average reaches 5-7 centimeters.

Garden culture has several shades: orange, golden, lemon, yellow. Flowers exude a unique aroma, vaguely reminiscent of the smell of mandarin. In bright light, the impression is that the color of the petals is glossy.

At the end of flowering, you can collect seeds. They are located inside the fruit and are black when oval-shaped.

Chinese (Trollius chinensis)

This variety has an unusual flower shape. Golden Queen reaches a height of 80 centimeters. Nectary petals are located in the center of the bud, have an elongated shape. Chinese bathing has a bright orange color and blooms in the middle of the summer season.

Grade of the Chinese bathing - Golden Queen.

How to grow a garden culture from seed

For abundant flowering in summer, you need to take care of planting seeds from late summer or early autumn. Should deal with this issue immediately after collecting the seeds. If planting stale seeds, the percentage of germination will be reduced significantly.

The first shoots appear in the spring. The plant makes its way out of the ground very slowly. The number of sprouts is not numerous. It should immediately begin to water the plants, and wait for the first green leaves to appear. In May, seedlings begin to dive at a distance of 5 to 10 centimeters from each other.

For some varieties of horticultural crops, for example, the Chinese swimsuit, it is possible to sow in early spring. It will please with its bloom by the end of May. Planting seeds is one of the most common methods of plant breeding.

When choosing a landing site, you should pay attention to the shaded area. The plant prefers penumbra. If this condition cannot be met, a variant of planting a flower on an illuminated place is possible. But for its good growth and development will require abundant watering.

Plants can grow in one place for up to 10 years, therefore, before planting seedlings, it is necessary to carefully cultivate the soil, getting rid of weeds and roots of bushes. One of the main conditions for good growth, will serve as a generous fertilizer landing site. Peat or compost will be an excellent option. It is recommended to locate the bushes at a distance of 50 centimeters from each other.

The Lemon Queen garden trough, Brit Marie Crawford's toothed buzulnik and variegated irises.

With proper care of the plant, you must follow a few basic rules:

Flowers need to weed often and loosen the soil surrounding the bushes. Care should be taken when tilling the soil and carrying out work associated with loosening no deeper than 5 centimeters.

This is because the roots of this plant are close to the surface,

  • For abundant flowering should often water the bushes of the bathing place. Especially in the open
  • In the spring it is necessary to introduce nitrogen fertilizer into the soil.

For the autumn period, suitable superphosphate or ash,

  • Regular sprinkling of soil rich in useful elements will serve as a reliable prevention of the appearance of weeds and retain moisture in the soil for a longer time.
  • After the plant dies, leaves and stems are cut.

This time comes in late September or early October,

  • If the bathing place on your site is a cold-resistant variety, it should not be covered.
  • How to combine a bathing suit

    • Often this crop is diluted with herbal planting, which gives the overall composition a delicate and harmonious look,
    • For exquisite growth should be placed this flower along artificially created ponds. An excellent combination will be purple and dark blue watersheds,
    • The flower will be a great addition to the garden of stones
    • The best neighbors for the bush will be bells and various varieties of phlox.

    What to replace the flower

Chubushnik Belle Etoile, Astilba Japanese Deutschland, Buzulnik The Rocket and Bathing Suit Chinese Golden Queen.

If it is not possible to grow a swimsuit, you should replace it with a similar look. These plants will serve any plants belonging to the family of buttercups (anemone, spruce, clematis, as well as larkspur).

A swimsuit is recommended to be planted on forest edges near trees and in compositions in the style of a natural garden. Height 70-80 cm. The plant is moisture-loving, but does not tolerate stagnant water.

For re-flowering, blooming buds are recommended to be cut, rotted dry leaves are also cut to avoid fungal diseases of the plant.

Approximately by the middle of June, depending on the weather conditions, the seeds of the fruit ripen in the leaflets. True, not all of them germinate, since they have a low viability. Spring sowing without stratification does not sprout at all. The best time is autumn.

Seeds are sown in October on the ridge or in a box and almost never covered with earth. The seeds not oversized in autumn should be stratified in winter for 2-3 months in wet sand at a temperature of 3-5 ° С, and sown in March in a greenhouse.

The emergence of seedlings should be expected in a month.

If necessary, seedlings rasped out. The first true trifoliate leaves with a jagged edge. When 5 leaves form on the plant, the cotyledons die off. By this time, the root system has 10-15 adventitious roots and is buried 15 cm in the ground. For 3-4 years, young plants bloom.

The shoots of all the bathing suits need watering when the soil dries out and in shading. After the appearance of the second true leaf, the seedlings dive at a distance of 8-10 cm from each other. Planted plants can be planted in the spring of the second year or in the third and fourth year.

    Сказочный цветок троллей

The swimsuit is called the flower of the trolls. The Latin name of the flower is Trollius. According to one version, the name comes from the German Trollblume, which means "flower trolls." The ancient Germanic and Scandinavian legends contain mention of this flower as the favorite plant of trolls - the mythical inhabitants of forests and mountains.

There is another version of the origin of the name. The inflorescence of the plant resembles a bowl or a ball. Therefore, some experts associate the name of the plant with the Latin word trulleus, meaning "round vessel", or the old German word troll - ball.

In different regions of Russia you can find many popular flower names: kupavka, kupavnitsa, lights, Siberian rose and others.

The plant has long been used in folk medicine for the treatment of various ailments. But even healers have always treated him with caution, as the bathing vessel is a poisonous plant. Substances contained in the roots and stems of the plant can be dangerous to humans.

    Growing garden bathing

If you want to grow on your site an unusual flower, which not every gardener has, the bathing vessel is just what you need. This flower can grow well not only in the wilderness, but also at any cottage. Despite the fact that the bathing vessel has a reputation as a very capricious plant, you can succeed in growing it, if you choose a suitable place for planting and follow certain rules.

    Choosing a landing site

The best option for landing will be shady place with wet soil. Few garden plants will feel good in such conditions. Thus, you have a chance to make a bright flower garden from an empty corner of the garden with a seemingly unprofitable location.

The swimsuit may well grow in partially lit areas. However, in this case, the stems will be lower, and the flowers - smaller and pale.

Sand and dry soils are categorically unacceptable for a flower..

    Planting rules

The flower is best planted in August. With a later planting, the plant may be damaged by early frosts. Mature plants tolerate frost quite firmly, but inferior seedlings can die from low temperatures.

Before planting, it is important to properly prepare the soil. Proper cultivation before planting largely determines how long the flower will grow. Under favorable conditions, swimsuits grow in gardens for more than ten years.

Tillage before planting includes the following steps:

    • removing the roots of perennial weeds,
    • fill the planting holes with a mixture of soil and peat (to improve the structure of the soil).

The optimum distance between seedlings is 40-50 cm.

    Plant Care

Care of a bathing suit does not represent special difficulties. However, in order for the flower to be healthy and for a long time to decorate the garden plot, it is necessary to follow certain care guidelines. Mandatory procedures for active growth and flowering include:

    • regular watering
    • weeding
    • loosening
    • soil fertilizer.

The listed standard care components for most plants have their own nuances when it comes to bathing.

The plant requires regular watering until late autumn.. At the same time, it is necessary to regulate the volume of water depending on weather conditions and the state of the plant. The flower is extremely sensitive to the lack and excess of moisture.

Weeding is also very important for the plant. Flowers weed at a distance of 10 cm from the stems. Weeding the flower garden is necessary as needed, as a rule, 2 - 3 times per season. After weeding, loosen the soil. This is especially important if the summer was dry and hot. It is necessary to loosen the soil superficially and very carefully.so as not to damage the roots of the plant. For lush and bright inflorescences the plant must necessarily feed with nitrogen or complex fertilizers. Feeding is carried out twice during the season: at the beginning of May and before the start of flowering.

    Plant propagation methods

The reproduction of the bath, as well as most garden perennials, is possible in three ways:

    • growing from seed
    • bush dividing
    • grafting

The first and second methods of plant breeding are quite simple and effective, provided that all the requirements of agricultural technology are met. The latter method is best considered only theoretically, since cuttings usually take root very poorly.

How to grow a swimsuit from seed

To ensure maximum germination of future crops, ripe seeds need to be collected in the fall. Sowing seeds in open ground at the same time.

note that sowing seeds in open ground should be immediately after they were collected. The use of stale seeds will lead to the fact that the seedlings will be several times smaller.

The first shoots will appear in the middle of spring after the snow melts. Keep in mind that they will grow very slowly. Emerging shoots must be regularly watered.

Seeds of some varieties of swimsuit are recommended to be sown in spring. In this case, in the winter, it is necessary to stratify the seeds. Stratification involves the creation of optimal conditions for storing seeds until planting time. To do this, the seeds must be washed, dried, placed in a prepared substrate and left in a room with a temperature of 4 - 5 degrees. As a substrate for storing seeds use one of the following substances:

The optimum ratio of seeds and substrate is 1/3.

    Dividing bush

Reproduction of the swimsuit by dividing the bush can be carried out both in autumn and spring. In autumn, September is best, as in this case the separated bush will have time to take root before the onset of winter. In the spring the division of the bush is carried out before flowering. In different regions of the country it may be from the beginning of May to mid-June.

The bush should be carefully dug with a sharp knife and divided into several parts. Each new bush must have at least 3 buds.. In the separated part of the bush should not shake off the roots, so that the plant is better settled in a new place. From the seedlings obtained in this way, bushes with five to seven peduncles will grow next year.

Some gardeners believe that at the site of planting a separated bush need to mulch the soil.

Mulching is the laying of the upper protective layer to prevent the growth of weeds. As mulch, you can use mowed grass, sawdust, tree bark, gravel or sand.

    Possible problems with growing bathing

Bathing suit has a very strong immunity, so rarely affected by any diseases and pests. Yet occasionally a plant may suffer from the following fungal diseases.

    • Septoria. Diseases affect the leaves of plants, which initially appear dark spots, over time, begin to brighten. As a result, the entire surface of the sheet is covered with white spots with dark edges. The disease can lead to the death of the plant.
    • Smut. In this disease, the stems and leaves of plants under the action of spores of fungi turn into a black viscous mass or dust.

To prevent infection, it is necessary to free the plant from old dead leaves in late autumn.

    Photos of bathing varieties

    European bath (Trollius europaeus)

Under natural conditions, the plant is distributed in Northern and Central Europe, Scandinavia and Western Siberia. In the description of this plant it is said that it is most often found on mixed grass meadows, forest edges and clearings near water bodies.

The inflorescence is formed from several dense rows of petals, painted in lemon yellow color. Flowering continues from mid-May to mid-June. The height of the stem varies from 30 to 70 cm, depending on the amount of light and moisture during the growth period. The plant has very beautiful patterned leaves with sharp teeth.

In the photo you can see how the plant blooms.

    Asian swimsuit (Trollius asiaticus)

This species can be found in Siberia, Altai and Mongolia. The flower grows on the wet soils of floodplain meadows, near forest marshes and lakes. An Asian swim is also found in the tundra at the edge of the permafrost. According to the description of the species, the height of the stem can be from 10 cm to one meter.

The plant forms terry inflorescences of a bright orange shade in the form of a ball. Expanding to the top of the petals are located in the inflorescence in several rows. The diameter of the flower is about 6 cm. The Asian swimsuit has been blooming since the end of May for three weeks.

Terry hybrid varieties of the Asian swimsuit can often be found in flowerbeds created by professional landscape designers.

Chinese bath (Trollius chinensis), another name - Golden queen

This species is very similar to the Asian swimsuit, differing from her golden shade of flowers. In nature, the Chinese bathing is found in China, on Sakhalin and the Far East. The plant forms open inflorescences of large oval petals that resemble buttercup flowers. The stem grows to 90 cm. The flower feels best on a site where there is no sun at all. The Golden Quin Chinese Bathing Suit is one of the most decorative species that blends beautifully on flowerbeds and alpine hills with other colors.

    Dzungar bathing (Trollius dschungaricus)

In nature, the flower is found in the Dzungar mountains and in Altai. This is a low-growing plant, in natural conditions, reaching a maximum of 15 cm in height. In flower beds, with proper care, the plant can grow up to 50 cm.

The bath has bright yellow open inflorescences. Wide petals are located almost horizontally. Collected leaves are located close to the ground. The flowering period occurs in the first half of summer.

    Purple bath (Trollius lilacinus)

A plant with a rare color in nature is found in the highlands of the Tien Shan and Altai. Lilac bathing bloom in late June on the border of melting snowfields.

The plant forms inflorescences with light lilac petals and yellow stamens. Flower refers to undersized. The maximum height of the stem is only 10 cm.

Purple bathing plant grows well only in specific environmental conditions. In the gardens, it takes root very rarely.

The relative simplicity and unobtrusive beauty of the swimsuit allow you to use this flower to decorate any areas. The monochromatic coloring and laconic form of the troll flower make it an excellent addition to a variety of flower beds and flower beds.

Bathhouse - decorative perennial from the buttercup family

Bathhouse is a very unpretentious plant among garden flowers.

Swimsuits can grow great, for example, on the shore of a garden pond.

    Site selection and soil preparation

The bathing plant will grow well and grow in shady places.

If it is planted in an open sunny area, the swimsuit will quickly fade and shrink.

The best option for planting it is drained, moist and loose soil. The flower will grow well in almost any soil except dry and sandy soils.

When planting, the swim is recommended to add up to 1 square meter in the ridge. meter 5-6 kg of peat mixed with humus. You can also add a flower mixture for the soil, which may be Azalea or Saintpaulia, with the addition of one tablespoon of nitrophoska.

The swimsuit grows well in the shade on fertile wet soils.

    Growing a swimsuit from seed

To grow a swimsuit from seeds, it is necessary to sow the seeds in early January. After seeding for three months, they should be kept at temperatures from two to four degrees Celsius.

Then the boxes must be moved to the room and kept in it for some time, maintaining the room temperature.

Further, when the seedlings appear in the first leaflet, a picking is carried out (transplanting).

In early-mid-August, the swimsuit should be landed at a permanent place, while respecting the distance between plants of 30-40 centimeters. Planted plants will begin to bloom next year.

    Pest and disease control

Due to their vitality, swimsuits are rarely susceptible to any disease.

However, for their better condition, early spring treatment with ashes is recommended, with spring growth - fertilizing with nitrogen fertilizers, and further it is necessary to use complex fertilizers.

At the very beginning of flowering, the swimsuit is preferably sprayed with epinum in the amount of ten drops per 1 liter of water.

To prevent fungal diseases, it is possible to remove old dead leaves in the fall.

Rarely a bathing vessel may be affected by septoria, a smut, penetrating short-nematode.

The bathing ground is a plant of the Buttercup family, which is a perennial shrub. In height reaches 50-100 cm, depending on the species. On straight, less branching stems, 1-2 large-sized flowers that form a ball grow. The name of the bathing in the Latin language is Tróllius, derived from the German word “Trollblumen,” which means “flower of a troll,” therefore another name of the flower is “trolley”.

The plant has a strong root system, dark green ornamental leaves, the shape of which is finger-dissected. Flower petals with a glossy finish, color - golden yellow and orange. Did you know? Flowering bathing occurs in late May - early June, and its duration is up to one month (all types of plants - honey plants). There are about 30 species of bathing places, two of which grow in North America. Eurasia - the mainland, where the bathing place most often grows. In Russia and the CIS countries you can find about 20 different types of trollyus.

Choosing a place for planting a bathing place and preparing the soil

Choosing a place for landing, pay attention to the area with diffused light. It can be a cozy place under high ornamental shrubs or a rocky hill. The main thing is that the bright sun does not shine on the swimsuit for a long time.

You can plant a swimsuit in an open flowerbed, but you need to be prepared for the fact that its flowering will be short-lived, and the flowers will be faded and small in size.

There are no requirements for the composition of the soil in the bathing vessel, so no serious preparations are necessary before planting. But a good influence on the development of the flower will have a medium loamy soil. It is also desirable that there is no stagnant water in the selected area.

If you still want to create the best conditions for a trolley, you can add a little mixture of peat with humus and 10 g of nitrophoska to the planting well. And if the plant is planted in a sandy mixture, it is desirable to add more moss, which will ensure the safety of moisture.

Did you know? The bathing vessel is not adapted to dry and sandy, as well as to wet and marshy areas. In them she will not be able to develop and will soon die.

Planting bathing bed on a bed

Landing swimsuit should be carried out in August. Although all its varieties are frost-resistant, young plants should grow stronger and increase the rhizome before the onset of winter. If you plant a trolley later, it will surely die with the arrival of the first frost.

All varieties of swimsuits quickly acquire the form of a densely branched bush, therefore, it is necessary to plant the plants at a distance of 50 cm between them. It is necessary to deepen the root neck of the plant by 2 cm. Immediately pruning the leaves is done so that the rooting is successful. New foliage dissolved in two weeks after planting.

Tip! A swimsuit can grow in one place for a long time, so a plant can be transplanted every ten years.

    Bathhouse, garden care

Trollyus needs to be watered all the time, periodically fertilize and trim dried shoots. If you follow these elementary rules, the plant will grow quickly and even please with double flowering per season.

Frequent loosening of the soil to a depth of 2-4 cm is also carried out, but not deeper, in order not to damage the fragile root system.

On a note!

Removing weeds is a must in the care of a bathing suit. To save power, you can mulch the bush. This will maintain moisture near the roots and will not allow the weeds to “drown out” the plant. But if the mulch does not fit into the landscape design, you can do without it.

    Place in landscape design

Growing swimsuit is very popular for decoration of garden and suburban areas. Most often, the European (ordinary) bathing ground is bred, although other varieties are no less decorative.

Neighborhood with such colors as delphinium, cornflower, catchment, when yellow color is combined with violet and lilac. For the foreground, suitable for stunted plants - bergenia, clover, sleep-grass, oxalis.

A garden slide with a stone is well suited for decorative design of the site, where the bathing suit occupies the middle space, in front of it are ground-cover perennials, and behind it are tall (cornflower, bell). At the same time, take into account the timing of flowering, so that during the whole summer period, on your hill one flowers will be replaced by others.

    Use in traditional medicine

Although kupavka is a rather poisonous plant, its medicinal properties help in the fight against many diseases. The European bath (European) is especially popular in folk medicine. Its flowers, roots and leaves are used to make tinctures and decoctions that act as anti-inflammatory and healing agents. The herb of the medicinal plant has long helped to heal tumors.

Tincture of flowers is used to treat dropsy and scurvy, and tincture of the roots - from scabies. If you insist the leaves, such a tool will help get rid of angina.

Broth leaves is indicated for problems of the gastrointestinal tract. And if the leaves are mixed with flowers, this broth will be a good choleretic agent that will also protect the liver.

External ointment well help to heal wounds, boils and reduce inflammation.

However, using folk remedies from a bathing vessel, despite their beneficial properties, should be carefully consulted with a good specialist, as a poisonous plant can harm the nervous system.

The bathhouse of the Buttercup family is a grassy perennial that at the beginning of summer is replete with yellow-orange colors on green meadows with lush grass. An ornamental plant that does not require special care has won the love of many gardeners by the unpretentiousness of its character, who want to decorate the garden with magnificently flowering cultures of luminous colors.

Bathing vessel: types, varieties and description

Herbaceous plant is formed in stages. In the first year, a leaf rosette of up to 40 cm in height is formed, from which in the next season poorly leafy flowering shoots develop, crowned with double flowers of yellow shades. With each year of development, the number of elegant flower stalks increases. Flowering lasts about a month and is celebrated in the first half of summer. And the carved sheet plates, painted in bright shades of green, do not lose their decoration throughout the growing season of the crop. Although folk healers have long used the bathing vessel to prepare various decoctions, the florist must remember that the plant is poisonous.

In the wild, the genus is represented by more than 20 species, of which some have become the basis for breeding varieties and hybrids for the garden:

    • European swimsuit - the species is widely represented in the regions of the Non-Black Earth Region, where it is found in unpowered forests of mixed type, as well as on forest edges and meadows. Spherical yellow flowers delight their sunshine in early summer. Common varieties that are often grown in culture are: lemon Canary Bird, golden Earliest of Al, medium Orange Princess yellow-orange color and tall Superbus variety that can exceed a meter height.
    • The tallest is the tallest - a view up to one and a half meters tall with dairy inflorescences-balls, living among tall grass.
    • The large-bathing bath-house comes from the Primorsky Territory with open inflorescences of orange shades.
    • The Asian bathing ground is a species often found in culture, represented by plants up to 80 cm high with bright orange spherical flowers. In the wild, it grows not only in forest zones on the plains, but also in the alpine belt of the Ural Mountains.
    • Dzungar bathing - low in height with a height that in nature does not exceed 15 cm, and with proper care in the garden can be 45 cm. The name of the variety is due to the natural habitat - Dzungar mountains. The flowering phase, during which flowers characteristic of the genus bloom, occurs at the beginning of summer.
    • Chinese bathing ground - a species of interest to breeders of a later flowering period in the second half of summer. At this time, the raw edges are covered with orange caps of wild flowers.
    • Lilac bathing-ground is a wild-growing form, which, due to its growth in high-mountainous regions, is practically unable to take root in the gardens. However, the view deserves attention due to its rare color, which is not typical for swimsuit inflorescences.
    • The Ledebour bath is a tall variety up to one and a half meters in height with flowers of orange color on average in diameter.
    • Altai swimsuit - a species that has much in common with the Asian swimsuit, differs only in a dark spot from twisted stigmas in the center of an orange inflorescence.

However, under adverse weather conditions and contaminated soil may develop the following diseases:

    • Septoria is a fungal disease that develops on the leaf plates and, if left untreated, can cause the death of the whole plant.
    • Smut - the disease leads to blackening of the stem or its transformation into dust.

In case of manifestation of diseases, it is necessary to stop their development with the help of a fungicide preparation and remove the affected parts of the shoots. In the autumn, before preparing for winter, all plant residues are cleaned.

The basic rules of landing, which should be considered during the work, are as follows:

    • Timing - the best time for planting seedlings is the end of August, because early frosts are possible.
    • The distance between the holes - the wells dug at a distance of 40 cm from each other.
    • Nutrient substrate - the wells are filled with soil mixture from the extracted soil and peat.

    Bathhouse: care in the garden

After landing the swimsuit in open ground caring for an extraordinary and very decorative flower practically does not take time from the grower.

The main requirement in the cultivation of a swimsuit in the garden is to maintain a constant soil moisture under plantings. At the same time watering should not be carried out until the top layer of soil slightly shakes.

    Weeding and loosening

During the growing season, flowers should be weeded 10 cm from the central shoot about two or three times, depending on the intensity of weed growth. To maintain the friable structure of the soil several times during the summer, shallow loosening is carried out, which facilitates free access of water and air to the roots.

Plants are supplemented by additional nutrition during the growing season:

    1. In April, the swimsuit is fed with nitrogen fertilizers, which stimulate the buildup of green mass.
    2. A phosphorus-potassium complex is introduced into the phase of budding under the plants, giving the culture the necessary macronutrients for abundant and prolonged flowering.

Important! Timely dressing allows you to get lush and bright inflorescences.

    With seed reproduction:

    • freshly harvested seeds are sown in the fall into the ground, where they undergo natural stratification,
    • after the disappearance of the snow cover and the warming up of the soil, shoots begin to appear that require constant moistening.

Seeds of some varieties of swimsuit for normal germination must be sown in spring.

    During the procedure:

    1. Rhizome along with shoots removed from the ground.
    2. With the help of a sharp knife, the bush is divided into several parts, each of which should have at least 3 buds.
    3. Delenki without shaking from the remnants of the roots and soil are planted in permanent places of growth.
    4. Planting before the onset of cold weather is moistened and covered with a layer of mulch.
    5. Next spring, new specimens will have up to seven flower stalks and bloom.

Unpretentious plant swimsuit is used in landscape design to decorate various art objects:

    • stunted species and varieties are great on the rocky alpine hills with a shady side,
    • moisture-loving and bright plants, ideally combined with ferns, forget-me-nots and irises, adorn the shady zones of the garden, where other cultures develop poorly due to the constant soil moisture,
    • ornamental flowers are often found near artificial reservoirs that decorate homestead plots and landscape gardening ensembles,
    • swimsuits with lush inflorescences will not be redundant in flowerbeds, rabatkah and mixborders.

Thus, an unpretentious representative of the buttercups will be a great addition to the garden and will bring even in the most shady areas a ray of light, giving vigor and a sea of positive emotions.

    Flower care

Under the care of a swimsuit means frequent watering and loosening of the earth. The plant is necessary to weed several times per season from weeds and feed it with peat or humus. The flower has a superficial root system, so often it is not necessary to perform fluffing. If there is such a need, then do it carefully, no deeper than 5 cm.

Regular grounding will provide reliable prevention of the appearance of weeds and retain moisture in the roots.

If you want to achieve re-flowering for the season - get rid of all faded flowers.

Bathing suit is a frost-resistant plant that does not need shelter for the winter.

This unpretentious flower successfully grows on all types of soil. Ideally, it is suitable light, fluffy ground with weak acidity. The main requirement is its hydration. If the area is sandy soil - add peat, deciduous humus or moss. These components retain moisture well. Although the plant loves moisture, planting it in wet wetlands is not worth it.

How to independently propagate the swimsuit?

At the end of flowering, you can easily collect the seeds. They are located inside the fruit and are oval and black in color. Another method of reproduction is the division of the root system. This method is much simpler, it is necessary to divide the growth so that each part contains not only the root, but also the cuttings. It is best to do this in early autumn, so that the plant has time to take root before the onset of frost. In the process, you should cut the leaves. In 2-3 weeks after planting, new young leaves will appear. This procedure should be carried out in gloves, as the plant is poisonous.

Like many other wild plants, swimsuit belongs to the self-propagating species. It quickly grows, conquering more and more space on the site.

    Bathing in medicine

This plant is often used in medicine for the preparation of infusions of edema and liver disease, despite the fact that this plant is poisonous. The tincture of the leaves is quite effective. It has a choleretic effect, it can be used to expand the cholagogue ducts and reduce the tone of the gastrointestinal tract. Herb bathing for a long time used as a medicine for cancer. It effectively helps in the fight against scurvy.

Bathing suit is a diuretic, anti-inflammatory plant, therefore it is often used in traditional medicine. With its help they get rid of scabies, dropsy, reduce the symptoms of epilepsy.

    Contraindications

Despite all the useful qualities of a bathing vessel, it must be remembered that this type of plant is poisonous, self-treatment of decoctions and tinctures is strictly prohibited.

Pollen or sap from this plant is very dangerous to the eyes or mucous membranes. If this happens, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

    Swimsuit in landscape design

A bathing ground is one of the favorite flowers of gardeners. It is planted in the design of the site in small groups, it perfectly complements the alpine slides and curbs. Look particularly impressive near the lakes and under the trees.

Bathhouse is not demanding to care, lives for several years and blooms for more than a month with bright sunny flowers. Most often, the swimsuit in the beds combined with blue irises or forget-me-nots. This flower looks great in complex bouquets, it is long standing and does not fade.

Garden culture has several shades: orange, lemon, golden, amber and yellow. These flowers emit a fragrant aroma that resembles the smell of tangerine. When the sun is strong, it seems that the petals have a glossy base.

Low-growing species feel great on the hills of stones from the shady side, ornamental flowers can often be found near artificially created reservoirs, decorating gardens and parks of private plots. Flowers with its lush flowering look great in flower beds, rabatkah and mixborders.

Using a swimsuit, grassy plantings are very effectively diluted, giving the overall composition a delicate and harmonious appearance. Flower will serve as a great addition to the garden of stones.

Thus, an unpretentious plant, the bathing vessel will be an excellent addition to the garden and will bring rays of sunshine into the most shady areas, will give vivacity and a sea of positive emotions.

    "Troll Flower"

In garden culture there are various hybrids bathing, the main difference of which is in the color of flowers.

They make this plant so valuable from a decorative point of view: despite the relatively small size of flowers (up to 8 cm), the bathing suit has many advantages.

The flowers themselves are very beautiful and bright, and they bloom profusely.

The plant has a branched stem, and the leaves are collected in a rosette in the lower part of the plant. A swimsuit can grow almost a meter in height.

In most species, the first buds begin to form in early May, which then bloom and begin to bloom. The flowering period lasts on average 20-25 days.

    Soil requirements

The swimsuit is unpretentious, so the planting of this plant may not be accompanied by additional soil preparation.

Structural medium loamy soils are best suited to it, and stagnation of groundwater can badly affect the bathing place.

If you still want to provide optimal conditions for the plant, then before planting in the hole, you can add 5-6 kg of peat with humus (per 1 sq. M) and 1 tablespoon of nitrophoska.

How to care for the bushes bathing

The description of care will not take much space, as the bathing vessel is an unpretentious plant. The entire care for her is in timely watering, weeding and dressing.

Before winter, the leaves die off, and they need to be cut, leaving only the base of the petioles. They will provide the buds with protection, from which the peduncle will then be formed.

    Weeding bushes

This procedure is very important for plant development. Weeding and loosening should be carried out regularly, at a distance of 10 cm from the flowers. Loosening does not need to be carried out too deep, 3-5 cm will be enough.

    Fertilizer and dressing

Usually swimsuit is fed in the first days of May, repeated feeding is carried out before flowering. To prepare the solution you will need:

    • 10 liters of water
    • 1 tbsp. l urea,
    • 1 tsp nitrofoski,
    • 1 tsp “Agricola for flowering plants”.
All this must be mixed and this solution in small doses to produce dressing.

    Seed method

Seeds for further planting are collected in the fall, immediately after they ripen. It is recommended to plant them at the same time, because at this very moment their germination rate will be maximum.

You will see the first shoots in spring, but there will be few of them, and they will develop slowly. If you decide to plant seeds in the spring, the seeds are usually stratified at a temperature of 3-4 ° C for three to four months.

    Bushes division

The flowers of the bathing vessel also multiply by dividing the bushes, cultivation in this way can be produced both in autumn and spring.

In autumn, September is best suited for newly-formed plants to take root. In spring, this procedure is best carried out immediately before flowering.

When planting delenok make sure that the root neck is drowned in the soil by about 2 cm. Also, new plants must be mulched.

    Why does not swim flower

The swimsuit belongs to the moisture-loving plants, so the lack of moisture for it is much worse than an overabundance.

The answer to the frequently asked question, why the bathing vessel does not bloom, is quite simple: the soil is too dry or too moisture-wicking. In the first case, the plant should be transplanted to a more suitable place, and in the second - to increase the intensity of irrigation.

    Diseases and pests

Not many plants can boast a powerful immune system against various kinds of pests. Fortunately, bathing - one of them. It is practically not subject to disease, with the exception of fungal. Occasionally it may be affected:

    • Septoria,
    • smut,
    • penetrating nematode.

How many bathing suits were there! I do not remember any other colors, but these yellow balls were everywhere.

And they were for me such a kind of symbol of freedom and, perhaps, happiness without boring counselors and pioneer lines. Soon, they soon ceased to send me to a pioneer camp, but for many years after that, when I met a bathing place somewhere in the June forest, it was as if I plunged into childhood and felt the very same freedom and happiness.

And many years later, at the end of June, in the forest near the dacha, I stumbled upon a fading bush of a swimsuit. Since everything was already being actively built up by that time with new cottages, I decided that I absolutely must save it. Since then, already 20 years old he lives in my garden.

    Asian swimsuit - Altai miracle

When I was 14 years old, my mother-geologist took me on an expedition to Altai. It was in June, there was snow in places in the mountains, the first tiny primroses bloomed along the streams flowing down from the glaciers, but the foothills amazed the absolutely endless fields of orange roasts whose botanical Asian bathing title (Trollius asiaticus). It was something unimaginable! I did not see anything like this before or after!

Especially these orange fields impressed against the blue sky, the mountains in the distance and the stunning beauty of the lakes. From that trip I brought a whole package of all kinds of primroses, and of course, frying. Alas, almost all primroses have died in a few years, but frying has been growing in my garden so far, for more than 30 years now. And although their surroundings are more than prosaic, when they bloom, fantasy immediately draws around Altai lakes and mountains.

    Chinese swimsuit - surviving

About 15 years ago in a garden center, I came across a counter with not sold out rhizomes of perennials in time. Alas, the beautiful Dutch packaging with bright pictures contrasted strongly with the absolutely unviable roots, sprinkled with dry peat.

I twisted these bags in my hands for a long time, and finally, in one of them, I thought of life. A tiny whitish sprout protruded from an absolutely wrinkled spine. On the packaging was written "Chinese bath (Trollius chinensis) ". Since my two kinds of bathing on the prowl were not at all like, and her price was extremely ridiculous, I decided to take a chance.

The whole first year the plant looked as if it was about to die, but to my surprise it survived the winter and, even next month (almost a month later than the first two species), even bloomed. A year later, it was a rather lush bush with a dozen flowers. Well, who would have thought that this miraculously saved plant could have such tremendous vitality! Since for several years in a row I didn’t have time to cut flower stalks in time, this bathing vessel provided me with such a crazy self-seeding that it had long become almost a malicious weed. As a result, all my neighbors and friends are already provided with this plant. By the way, I'm still not sure whether the exact name of the species was indicated on the package. The very swimsuit is Chinese (Trollius chinensis) is similar to Ledebour bath (Trollius ledebourii).

    About bathing names

There is a version that the Latin name of the bathing place comes from the German Trollblume, which can be translated as "flower of trolls". According to the German and Scandinavian legends, this plant was considered the favorite flower of trolls. According to other versions, in connection with the round and even spherical shape of the flower, the name was formed either from the Latin word trulleus, meaning “round vessel, cup”, or from the old German word troll - “ball”.

But with the Russian name, everything is quite clear - it is associated with the inclination of the plant to wet habitats.

Although in many regions of Russia adopted various national names that designate the types of bathing suits: kupava, kupavnitsa, kupavka, kolupalenki, frying, lights, siberian rose, italmas, avdotki, bells, beaters, kucherskaya weed.

    Appearance

In gardens, not natural species are more often grown, but varieties and hybrids derived from them, the height of bushes and the size of flowers can vary greatly. The bathing-house is European and the varieties obtained on its basis have a height of about 35-70 cm, the size of their spherical flowers is 4-6 cm, and the shades vary from pale cream to lemon and dark yellow. The Altai and Asian swimsuits and their varieties are slightly higher and can reach 80 cm, the size and shape of the flowers are approximately the same as in the previous species, and the shades are from light to dark orange.

The highest varieties are obtained on the basis of the Chinese and Ledebour swimsuits - up to 90-100 cm. Their flowers are very different in shape from previous species and can reach 6-7 cm both in diameter and in height. The unusual shape they give long petals, nectaries, located in the center. They are twice as long as the sepals, towering above the flower like feathers, giving it an openwork look, and come in various shades of orange.

    Optimal growing conditions

Bathing suits are absolutely unpretentious to the soil. Ideal - wet loams, but in general, they grow beautifully on any soil, except for very dry sandy. Despite the fact that these plants are moisture-loving, they do not tolerate stagnant moisture. In this case, help drainage and raised flower beds. In the sunny areas, the swimsuit blooms earlier, but their flowering also ends much faster than in partial shade.

    Flowering time

All of these species and the cultural forms obtained on their basis can be divided into early and late-flowering in terms of flowering time. The first bloom at the end of mine - early June and bloom about 2-3 weeks, the second - at the end of June - early July and bloom about 3-4 weeks. The first group includes the European, Asian and Altai bathing houses, the second - the Chinese and Ledebour.

Why do I love bathing (and I advise you)

    • Absolutely unpretentious to growing conditions and require minimal maintenance. Hardy
    • Grow well in partial shade and even in light shade. They live for a very long time (that is, they do not belong to youngsters) and can grow in one place for a long time.
    • Never get sick and are not affected by pests.
    • They grow very moderately, do not overwhelm all the space around them.
    • They can multiply by dividing the rhizome (even during flowering!), And, if necessary, by seeds (even self-sowing, although I only have a Chinese swimsuit).
    • Many species add a rather rare and very optimistic orange color to the colors of the blooming garden.
    • Bushes with carved dark green leaves pretty well and neatly look after flowering.

And I also have a dream - varietal swimsuits of pale lemon and cream color. I hope that sooner or later they will certainly make company to my three beauties. Somewhere there are dwarf species for an alpine slide - for example, purple bathing suit (Trollius lilacinus) with tender lilac flowers ... In general, you can dream and dream of bathing suits!

    The fact of the bathing

The soil at the landing site of the bath should be fertile and slightly acidic. And most importantly - wet! Ideally, medium loam. In the sandy add peat, humus and moss, which will help retain water. In addition, the plant loves high humidity. It is useful to moisten the swimsuit entirely - for example, sprinkling from a watering can. More watered in May and June.

It is possible to plant a beautiful woman both in the sun and in partial shade - she will feel good anywhere.

There are two ways of breeding bathing.

The division of the bush. The bush dug out at the beginning of September is broken up into 2-3 parts by hands so that each has both roots and shoots. Then each delenka is planted separately, at a distance of 20 cm from each other. The leaves should be cut off, leaving only a pair on each. Bushes water well and mulch. When dividing, remember: the plant is poisonous, do the work with gloves.

No less effective way - seeds. They almost all mature, with excellent germination, i Sown in a special little school immediately after harvest or before winter. On the eve of the May planting, a 2-month stratification should be carried out in the refrigerator.

Seedlings seated in the school at a distance of 10-12 cm from each other. In the fall transplanted to a permanent place. Rooting stimulants are not used.

The bathhouse has one secret: it is considered a plant for the spring garden, but it can bloom in the summer! To achieve this, you need as soon as possible to trim the flowering buds.
