Good day to all!

The new year has come, the holidays are over, and the tangerine season is still in full swing. Today's article on how to grow a tangerine from a stone at home. Probably everyone tried to stick a mandarin or orange seed into a pot of flowers. Hoping, deep down, that the tangerine tree will grow. My children often do that.

And seeds sometimes germinate, and then wither. What's the matter? Let's take a closer look at what they love citrus and

How to plant a mandarin from a seed at home

Growing tangerine is not a difficult and exciting activity. Do it with your child, it is very interesting to grow your tangerine tree!

What do we do?

1. Soil preparation

Mandarins do not like dry, sour land. Therefore, we try to avoid getting peat into the ground. Purchased mixtures are almost always with peat. Read the composition and choose the land without peat. The best composition can be prepared by yourself.

  • 2 pieces of humus,
  • 2 pieces of forest land
  • 1 part of sand

Not everyone can do it at home, the main thing is that the earth was light, well let in water and air. If the land is ready, prepare the seeds.

2. Seed preparation and planting

Although I do not like customized seeds, but still soak mandarin seeds for better germination. You can put them in a damp cloth for a couple of days, put them in a warm place. Do not fill it with water, but make sure that the fabric is always wet and does not dry out.

Here our seeds are well swollen, and maybe sprouts have appeared, we are preparing a pot. The size of 4 liters is necessary for the grown sapling, but it is possible to sow while in the cups, then to transfer to a larger volume.

As for any flower, a drainage should be put on the bottom - a layer of pebbles, shards, and nuts. Then we fill it with earth and plant seeds to a depth of about 4 cm.

We plant several pieces at once, up to a dozen.

First, not everyone will grow if there is no proper care. Secondly, if you decide to plant a twig of a varietal mandarin on it, it is better to have a few bushes for the experiment. Grafts are not often successful the first time, the tree may die.

Before germination, we keep pots in a warm place, we monitor the humidity. Then we transfer the sprouts to a bright warm place, not lower than 20 ° С - the mandarin does not like the heat-loving southern plant and does not like the cold.

Semi-annual sapling of mandarin

Young, and adult tangerine trees do not like dry air and dry land. They need to be sprayed frequently with water, as in the apartments in the winter dry air and wipe the leaves from dust. Water as necessary, pour too harmful.

A tangerine tree can grow at home for many years. Every year it needs to be transplanted by transshipment into a larger pot. And after eight years, in a year.

For the health of your pet, it is important to notice pests on time.

4. Pest and disease control

Red ticks, aphids, flies may appear on the mandarin. There are different biological products, "green soap", or prepare an infusion of garlic, onion peel. Chemistry at home is better not to use. It is not needed if you notice the disorder with mandarins on time.

Rinse the entire plant thoroughly, arrange a real “bathhouse” for it. You can put the pot in the bathroom or sink, and not sparing the solutions, wash all the leaves and the trunk from pests. Because simply spraying will give nothing.

Read more recipes for preparing solutions for controlling plant pests here.

Flies usually breed in constantly wet ground, do not pour in mandarin, constantly loosen the ground, let the top layer dry up.

Also, from over-wetting, young mandarins can get sick with a black leg and die.

5. How to grow a house with mandarin fruit?

No vaccinations in any way. From the bone that we plant from mandarin grow wild. With beautiful shiny green leaves, which if you rub, smell great citrus. Maybe it will even bloom for 3-5 years and it will have a small green mandarin fruit. That is, as a decorative flower, mandarin grows well at home with many people.

Such beauty can be grown at home!

6. Vaccination

Need to find a friend or buy a fresh stalk of varietal mandarin. If you cannot graft it right away, store it in a bag in the bottom shelf of the refrigerator so that it does not dry out.

All operations are done with a sharp clean (disinfected) instrument. There are different types of cuts, as for any fruit trees. Which one is more convenient for you to choose.

The graft is made on a young tree as thick as a pencil. You can plant a bud and cutting. There are many different ways, you can make a T-shaped shallow incision on your wilderness, and insert a graft there almost under the bark. At the graft - the stalk needs to be cut at a sharp angle, try to make the cut completely fit into our cut.

You need to work quickly and clearly, like a surgeon in an operation. Think and cook everything in advance. Then we vaccinate the site of vaccination with garden pitch and tape it with fumlent, which is used in plumbing or adhesive tape.

It is desirable to cover the plant after vaccination - to make him a mini greenhouse. Maybe it looks like in the photo.

Mandarin after vaccination

After a month, you can remove the film, when a new branch begins to grow, we remove the bandage.

I do not have an article about vaccinations, I suggest to watch the video.

7. Video about grafting mandarin

A method of grafting rotape on thin twigs is shown. This method is also suitable for thicker branches, as long as they are of the same diameter.

When the graft goes to growth, we cut the wilder above the graft and cover it with garden pitch.

How to grow tangerine from the bone with his own hands at home?

The process of growing a tree from a stone consists of several stages:

  • The first stage is the preparation of pits.

The very first thing to do is to make the selected seeds swell.

To do this, you can buy seeds, but you can take them from the tangerine (only pre-dried).

Next, the bones should be soaked in gauze for several days.

The main thing to remember is that there should not be a lot of water.

Gauze should be wet. For one tree, you need to prepare about fifteen seeds, since not all will swell and give sprouts.

  • The second stage - planting / soil preparation

Hacked seeds must be planted in a pot.

Only first you need to choose the right soil / soil. The ideal option would be to purchase a special soil for citrus trees.

However, this is not so important, the soil is also suitable.

Since the home tangerine tree is unpretentious. Therefore, you can choose a mixture of soil from sod and leaves.

It is important to remember that it is impossible to choose peat, as it quickly sours and dries, moreover, it has a minimum of beneficial bacteria.

And you can also make a soil mix with your own hands. For this you will need: sand, turf, humus, leaf soil, clay.

For drainage needed: small pebbles, expanded clay, brick chips. Next to the bottom of the pot drainage layer runs out, and on top of it - the soil mixture.

Only after that, you can plant ready-made bones, which will sprout in a few weeks.

At the initial stage of growth, the future tangerine tree does not need any care. But as soon as it gives the first shoots, you need a special feeding.

Can be fertilized with organic and inorganic nutrients.

. However, for the best effect, you should purchase supplements for citrus representatives.

Which tangerine is necessary to use the bones?

Grow a tangerine tree from seed is not difficult.

The main thing to remember, in order for the seed to sprout, you need a large mandarin.

Remove from it you need only the most solid hard stones.

At home, it is best to engage in the cultivation of low-growing representatives. In principle, you can plant any kind of citrus plants.

But to obtain a fragrant harvest, preference should be given to such varieties of mandarin as:

  • Skoroplodny Unshiu. This variety refers to the yield and unpretentious. This is a low-growing tree with large foliage. And if you properly care, this variety will delight the fruits all the time.
  • Room Murcott. This variety pleases sweet, honey fruits.
  • Early conquering Shiva Mikan. Unpretentious, room representative of citrus. It smells strong and gives fruit.
  • Clementine. It will easily become a wild species so that this does not happen, a vaccination against domesticated mandarin is needed.

How to sprout bones before planting and check germination?

Before planting, you must prepare the seeds themselves in the amount of fifteen pieces. After all, not everyone will come. Next, you need to sprout bones.

This can be done like this:

  • A small piece of gauze needs to be folded several times. Then, in the resulting gauze segment you need to fold the bones. And constantly wet with water for a couple of days. After a while the seeds will be ready. They swell and hatch.
  • In addition, you can purchase a hydrogel. When interacting with water, it swells, besides, it creates excellent conditions for seed germination. Place the tangerine seed is necessary in the central layer of the hydrogel, as in the bottom a lot of moisture, and the top quickly dries.
  • Still not to prepare a seed. Plant directly into the prepared soil, and wait for the sprouts. Only at the same time it is necessary not to forget about watering defended with water.
  • Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine whether the seed will rise or not. However, practice shows that there are some points that need to be paid attention to.

There is one interesting way - you need to take the selected bones and put them in a bowl with water. The bones that went to the bottom are alive, which means they will germinate. But those who surfaced are dead and will not give germs.

How to cook the right soil, plant and water?

Soil for tangerine wood can be purchased already ready in a special store. And you can do it yourself.

This will require: the top layer of the earth, located in deciduous trees, river sand, humus, ash.

The recipe for preparing the soil will be as follows:

  • leafy ground - two glasses,
  • river sand - one glass,
  • humus - three tablespoons,
  • ash - one tablespoon.

At the beginning of the bottom of the pot is laid drainage, consisting of small stones, brick chips and expanded clay.

From above the ready ground is laid. Here such soil can already be planted prepared tangerine seeds.

And you need to plant as follows: each bone is placed in the deepening of the soil for four centimeters.

Water the tangerine plant should be as the soil dries.

At the same time it is impossible to allow full drying of the earth. The soil moisture must be monitored continuously, especially in the warm season.

Water for watering should be boiled. In addition, it must be defended for several days immediately before watering.

The emergence of the first shoots and proper care after the emergence of sprouts

It is impossible to say exactly when the first shoots will appear.

Each time you need a different amount of time. Sometimes germination occurs after a few days, sometimes after a fortnight, and sometimes after a month.

In any case, the important point is to monitor the humidity and temperature.

After the sprouts rise, it is necessary first of all to maintain the soil moisture and create additional lighting.

Care of small shoots is:

  • Watering. For the best growth of seedlings in the prepared water, you can add a little potassium permanganate.
  • Spraying. As well as for watering, settled water is necessary.
  • Do I need to cover the tangerine plant, the right lighting, watering, care and transplanting
  • Every year the plant is transplanted into a larger pot. The plant should feel comfortable. When the mandarin reaches the age of four, it is transplanted into a wooden container and left to grow for several years.
  • Mandarin transplant should be carried out in the spring, when the citrus representative wakes up completely. Begin transplanting should be a small dig, so as not to damage the roots.

  • To the ground better moved away from the walls of the pot, it must be moistened.
  • To root with the ground moved, the pot needs a little knock.
  • Tangerine tree must be carefully taken by the trunk and pull out, not brushing off the old soil.
  • Tangerine tree must be placed in a prepared container and filled with new soil from above.
  • Strongly tamp the plant is not necessary. It is necessary to water and put in the sun.
  • Tangerine plants need sunlight. The more light, the tastier and more abundant the harvest.
  • Mandarin soil should always be wet. In the summer it is necessary to water every day, and in the winter several times a week.
  • In winter, the tangerine plant does not need to be fed, but in the warm season it needs to be fertilized. The tree will need several nutrients a month. Fertilizers containing phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen, as well as mineral compounds are necessary.
  • Cover the tangerine tree with cellophane is necessary only for vegetative reproduction.

Features and important points when growing tangerine tree at home

When growing tangerine tree at home, it is necessary to take into account the features and important points:

  • Mandarin loves sunshine. Therefore, it should be placed on the illuminated side of the window sill.
  • He quickly gets used to the lighting from one side. Therefore, in order not to injure the plant. It must be rotated with care, so as not to disturb the metabolism of foliage.
  • For proper development, the mandarin requires accurate temperature, in summer it is 16 ° - 21 °, and in winter 12 ° - 15 °. It is imperative to monitor the temperature so that the plant does not wither.
  • Mandarin loves spraying and peeling. This is especially true for foliage.
  • Constant monitoring of soil moisture is necessary.
  • Mandarin should stand apart from the poisonous for him indoor plants.
  • Is it possible to grow mandarin at home and after what time

To grow a fragrant tangerine tree from a stone at home is quite real, and you do not need special skills.

It is the power of everyone.

Such an exotic plant has its advantages:

  • it is not whimsical and tenacious,
  • is a wonderful interior decoration
  • will constantly delight with fragrant bouquet and greens,
  • considered an excellent antidepressant
  • does not require special care
  • you can grow a tree from any purchased mandarin,
  • can grow both from the bone and from the shoot.

You can grow tangerine at any time.

First you need to prepare the seeds. It will take several days. Then ready seeds need to be planted in the ground.

The first shoots seem somewhere in a month. The development of a fruit tree will take about five years.

In conclusion, it should be noted that growing tangerine trees at home is not a difficult task.

The main thing is to follow certain rules.

Their observance will bring joy to the beginning gardener.

Seed preparation

Is it possible to grow tangerine from seeds in their own home? In fact, it is quite possible. With the bones really have to tinker. You should initially prepare yourself to grow tangerine from the stone at home is not always obtained. Firstly, the process itself is very slow.

Secondly, the indoor tree sometimes simply does not bloom, and then you will have to resort to different techniques to somehow stimulate it. But the first thing you should pay attention to when planting a tangerine from a stone at home is the choice or purchase of seeds. Remember: to grow a tree of mandarin at home will be under your power, if competently go to each stage.

Seeds of mandarin for breeding are recommended to be taken from hybrid varieties. A tree grown from the bone of a similar plant will form faster, because the germination of the seeds of the hybrid mandarin is much better. In addition, you have more chances to get edible and nutritious fruits, if you plant exactly the seeds of hybrid varieties.

In the process of selecting grains for seed, be sure to pay attention to their appearance. Seeds suitable for planting should not be deformed, have any noticeable defects, stains, or appear dry. In one flower pot, many prefer to plant up to five grains of a plant to ensure 100 percent germination of citrus shrubs.

Soil selection

Let's understand how to germinate mandarin pit and how difficult it is. First of all, the preparatory stages are important, such as the selection of seeds or the preparation of a soil mixture. Whether room tangerine will bear fruit and develop fully depends on the quality of the soil. Remember that this home plant does not grow too well on acidic or overly dry soil. That is why in the process of acquiring a soil mixture, by all means pay attention to its composition: if it includes peat, such a substrate is not suitable for growing tangerine tree from seeds.

If you do not want to spend money on purchased soil mixtures and are absolutely sure that you can prepare the necessary substrate yourself, the most optimal soil composition is a mixture of the following components:

When it comes to the need to plant a tangerine tree from seeds, remember that fruiting is possible if you use a nutritious soil mixture. Just digging up land in the summer cottage is not enough.

Planting seeds

Growing tangerine from the stone is a laborious process. Knowing how to plant a mandarin correctly, you will be able to qualitatively perform the entire procedure step by step, and eventually get a good result. Mandarin bones will ascend if you do not overdry them. Ideally, the sooner the seeds removed from the fruit are planted in the ground, the greater the chances that they will soon slip from under the earth's crust. However, there are other possible options.

For example, you took mandarin seeds from your friends, because you know that you will be dealing with a prolific hybrid variety. But you did not succeed in rooting the seeds at once. In this case, the seed should be soaked in water for several days. When the seeds can already be planted, they are rooted to the ground no deeper than 1–1.5 cm. After planting, be sure to water them and begin to care.

Transplanting seedlings

A mandarin from a bone grows at home only if you follow certain recommendations. Sprouting seeds in a pot, remember that soon they will need to transplant. But first, wait until four leaves form on each sprout. After inspecting all the processes and select the largest ones for further cultivation. Next, transplant sprouts and continue to care for them. The next transplant is needed when the root system of the young plant fills the entire flowerpot.

Care and maintenance

How to care for a grown mandarin tree? First of all, water it regularly. The daily irrigation of the land is optimal, since the citrus tree loves moisture. Do not allow drying of the upper earthen crust. Interestingly, the intensity and frequency of irrigation should not be reduced even during the winter period. As a rule, a potted plant is placed on or near a window, so a tree often costs near a battery. In winter, hot air comes out from there, which dry out the soil. This must be fought.

As for supplements, they are also necessary: add nutrient mixtures to the soil 2-3 times a week.

Most flower growers who know a lot about growing citrus trees prefer to buy top dressing in specialized stores. As a rule, two types of fertilizers are used at once: to enrich the substrate and directly to stimulate the growth of mandarin. Another important nuance for the care of tangerine shrubs - lighting. It takes a lot, but without artificial lighting can and do.

Grafting

How to grow a mandarin from the bone, it is necessary to understand in advance, then to avoid mistakes. Pay special attention to the procedure of grafting plants. It is recommended to plant a graft on a tree taken from a more mature and well-fruiting shrub. At the end of the vaccination, by all means use garden pitch for processing.

Diseases and pests

Even a beginner grower can grow a tangerine that will bear fruit. But you need to work hard. Very often the plant is exposed to various diseases and pest invasion. Among the most common parasites are red ticks, aphids, and also flies. You can get rid of them as purchase insecticides, and biologics.

Often, citrus plants lovers use home remedies (an infusion of onion peels or garlic). To multiply seedless mandarins on the windowsill or with the use of seeds is up to you. Knowing how to properly care for the plant, when to do the formation of the crown, how the fruiting plant breeds, you will achieve the desired results.

Tangerine from the bone - analyze the difficulties

Before you decide to grow a tangerine from a stone, you need to think: how much are you willing to work to achieve a result, and what exactly do you want from the tree you grow - just decorative or even fruit? Are you ready to wait? Tangerine from the bone grows quite slowly. Do you agree to experiment? In order for the plant to bloom, it will take more than one year, and there are often cases that the mandarin does not bloom at all, then you will need to help it.

In addition, if a mandarin grown from a stone gives fruit, they are not similar to those from which the seed is taken (for the variety to repeat it is necessary to propagate it vegetatively - by cuttings, grafts). However, what happens, in any case, pleasantly surprised!

What seeds to plant?

For planting mandarin is best to take the bones of the many hybrids offered today for sale. They sprout faster, bloom earlier, in most cases, give edible fruits and are easier to take root. It is very simple to distinguish them from real tangerines: the real ones do not have bones in the fruits, or very few of them, and the hybrids are always with bones.

Selected seeds should not be thin, as if drained, deformed or with a blackened tip. It is good that the mandarin seed is at least five, since not all will germinate, and if the plants are planned for grafting, at least ten, because grafting is not always possible.

Cooking the land and pick up the pot

The next task is the preparation of the substrate. It should not be peat, as the mandarin does not like sour soil. Therefore, the substrate is either bought at the store, marked pH = 6.5-7 (neutral soil), or made independently, mixing two parts of well-rotted humus, two parts of forest land (from under deciduous trees) and one part of sifted river sand. If there is no humus, you can just take a non-acidic soil and sand.

Now you need to pick up the capacity for landing. The first pots for young tangerines are quite capable of becoming plastic cups with a volume of 200 ml, a bowl, a depth of at least 7-9 cm (with a drainage hole required) or small pots.

Planting mandarin seeds

For all citrus fruits, there is a single rule: the faster the seed from the fruit gets into the soil, the higher its germination rate. Therefore, having eaten a tangerine, it is not necessary to dry its bones, it is necessary to immediately place them in the ground, prikopav to a depth of 4 cm.

If, for some reason, the seeds of the mandarin could not be planted immediately, then in order to speed up the germination process a little, they are recommended to be soaked for several days. At the same time, the dishes in which they will lie should be flat, the cloth should be damp but not filled with water, the place should be warm, but not in the sun. To keep the rag in which the mandarin bones are wrapped, do not dry out, the saucer can be placed in a plastic bag, slightly cover it, but not tie it.

From sowing to germination

It is impossible to say in advance how long it will take the bone to germinate and sprout. In some cases it is 15 days, but more often - about a month. In any case, it is important to monitor soil moisture and air temperature before germination, which should not fall below +20 ° C and exceed +25 ° C. At the same time, it is not recommended to place pots in a mini greenhouse, tangerines sprout so well, and plants grown in greenhouse conditions will then need to be accustomed to the conditions of the room.

Mandarin Formation

Mandarin - from those plants that often have to form. The first pinching (if he did not start branching himself) is done to him when the seedling reaches a height of 30-40 cm. This technique makes the tree start up side shoots of the first order. But for flowering this is not enough, because the mandarin fruits only on the branches of the 4-5th order. Therefore, pinching is continued, removing the tips of all the shoots after 4-5 leaves, as well as weak shoots and those that grow inside the crown. In general, the formation takes 3-4 years.

But in order to force branches of the first order to branch, you can take another way - to deflect the shoots with the help of fixation. This method is more laborious, but interesting enough. For its implementation, one end of the wire is fixed on a branch, and the other is fixed with a hairpin at the edge of the pot so that the mandarin escapes are bent closer to the parallel position relative to the ground.

Tangerine care at home

Care for tangerine trees varies somewhat depending on their age and purpose. If the specimen is young (up to 5 years) or grown exclusively for green foliage, it needs regular watering (the soil should be kept wet, but not flooded), spraying (fairly frequent) and plenty of light (with shading in the summer from the bright midday sun and backlit in winter days).

In the warm months, the tree can be carried out on the air (gradually accustoming) to a place protected from the wind. Once a month mandarin is useful to arrange a warm shower.

Like other citrus fruits, mandarin tends to turn the leaves to the main light source. Therefore, for a more uniform formation of the crown, it can be rotated around its axis. But this should be done no more than 10 ° C at a time and no more than once every two weeks, because citrus fruits do not like permutations and can react negatively to them.

If the mandarin began to bloom, then, in addition to the usual care, it needs a period of winter dormancy, at a temperature of + 10..12 ° C with less frequent irrigations (it is necessary to allow the ground to dry out a little), a smooth rise in temperature in the spring and optimum temperature for the formation buds (in the range of + 16..18 ° C). As well as moderate heat in summer - no higher than +25 ° C (at higher temperatures, the flowers can crumble) and gentle spraying (water should not fall on the flowers).

Since tangerines are sown for about 6 months, many people have a question: should the tree rest in the winter or dostaschivat it with a lamp so that the fruits ripen? The answer is to arrange. Even under conditions of + 10..12 ° C, the mandarins are slowly ripening.

Feeding mandarin

Small tangerines do not feed, they simply roll over into a larger pot. But older plants need to begin to fertilize from the beginning of spring growth until autumn. This should be done with a special fertilizer for citrus fruit or mullein infusion (1:10 with water) every two weeks. Suitable for dressings and chicken manure (tincture 1:20 diluted at the rate of 1:20 with water).

If the tree is planned to transplant, feeding mandarin stop at least three days before the event. After transshipment, fertilizers are returned no earlier than 2 weeks later. In winter, tangerines do not feed.

The first fruiting mandarins

In the fruiting mandarin grown from the stone, enters the 5th-6th year. Its fruits do not repeat exactly the maternal variety in taste and may differ from it in size, sweetness, aroma, but not only in the direction of deterioration of these qualities (as is commonly believed), but also in the direction of improvement (here - as lucky as anyone).

In this case, the first fruiting does not yet fully disclose all the characteristics of the plant obtained from the seeds. Therefore, if the mandarin has bloomed and tied fruit, it must provide the most attractive conditions so that the tree can manifest itself with repeated fruiting.

How to make mandarin blossom?

Well, if the mandarin blooms itself. And if not? In this case, it can be stimulated for this. It is necessary to take the copper wire and wrap it tightly with the base of the mandarin trunk so that it is pressed into the bark. This will disrupt the sap flow and make the plant “think” about the offspring - to bloom. After six months, the wire must be removed, and the wounded place treated with garden pitch - it will quickly recover.

However, the method will not work if the mandarin does not have a crown and does not have a rest period. Therefore, before embarking on an experiment, it is necessary to help the tree to grow branches of the 4th and 5th order and go through a cold wintering place.

Vaccination mandarin

Another way to get the fruit from a mandarin sapling is to plant it. To do this, it is necessary to grow stock (mandarin from the bone) to the thickness of the trunk with a diameter of a simple pencil (about 6 mm) and find a graft - a small segment of the shoot, taken from a varietal mandarin, or rather, a kidney (peephole) with a leaf stalk.

At a height of 7 cm from the soil on the bark of the rootstock, it is very sharp, preferably with a special budding knife, to make an incision in the shape of the letter “T” in such a way as not to cut through the wood. The length of the incision should be about 2.5 cm, the upper web (cap of the letter “T”) is about 1 cm. Insert the cut mandarin bud (with leaf petiole) into the bent ends of the bark (push them back with a knife) and press it back. Treat all garden pitch and wrap tightly with blue tape, leaving the petiole out. Place the grafted plant in the greenhouse of the package.

If the mandarin vaccination was successful - the kidney will take root within three weeks, the leaf stalk will turn yellow and will easily disappear. If the vaccination has failed, the stem will turn black.

In case of success, the greenhouse begins to be a little gradually aired, gradually increasing the time of the sessions. One month after the emergence from the new bud of the shoot, the stem of the mandarin stock is cut with shears at a height of at least 5 mm from the site of inoculation, obliquely. The bandage is removed. The cut is treated with a garden bar.

Mandarin care during flowering / fruiting

In the flowering and fruiting phase, mandarin needs more phosphate and potash fertilizers than nitrogen. Watering should be regular, but not excessive. When the plant blooms, it must continue to spray, but in such a way that the water does not fall on the flowers.

In most cases, the mandarin sheds excess flowers and ovary, self-regulating the load. If this does not happen, he needs to be helped by removing the extra flowers and tangerines, leaving one fruit on the plant for every 15-20 leaves.

If ripening mandarins burst, then the plant is watered irregularly, or experiencing an excess of nitrogen. To Mandarin laid flower buds, he necessarily needs winter rest.

Mandarin Pests

It is noticed that, grown from a stone, mandarin is much more resistant to environmental influences and pests than those that can be bought in the store. But, unfortunately, he has malicious enemies. Most of them are afraid of ultraviolet radiation and high humidity, so observing good plant conditions is at the same time a preventive measure against them. Who is it? Spider mite, scab, mealybug, and more - aphid.

Spider mite

With a size of only 0.3-0.6 mm, it is almost not visible to the human eye. But it can be calculated by the presence of small bright dots on the underside of the leaves of the plant and the presence of the thinnest cobweb. If a tick is detected, the fight against it must be immediate.

The first thing to start with is to thoroughly wash the plant with warm running water using laundry soap. Then it is necessary several times with an interval (7-10 days) to spray a tangerine Fitoverm, Intavir, Aktelik or other insecticide.

It is a convex oval-shaped plate with a size of only 4 mm. The main sign of its presence is a sticky syrup-like bloom that appears on the leaves of the plant. If the pest is not destroyed - the tree is quickly exhausted and dries out.

You can try to cope with the shield by treating mandarin with a soap solution with the addition of kerosene: for 1 liter of water 5 g of soap and 10 g of kerosene. Spray up to two times a week.

But more effective treatment (from 3 to 5 times with an interval of 15 days) insecticides Aktara, Fitoverm or other, which can always be found on sale. However, after such treatment, the fruit from the tree cannot be eaten and it is necessary to change the top layer of earth in the pot.

Mealybug

It is quite simple to detect: the pest resembles a white fluffy plaque scattered around the plant in the form of small dots, with a diameter of 3 to 6 mm. You can manually fight the insect by carefully collecting individuals using insecticides such as Karbofos, Decis, Intavira, or infusion of soap and garlic (2 cloves of garlic per 0.5 liter of boiling water to insist 4 hours).

Practically everyone is familiar with this pest: from 1 to 3 mm long, light green in color, it multiplies rapidly, lives in colonies. The harm of aphids is that it sucks the juices from young shoots and mandarin leaves, deforming them and depleting the plant.

In the fight against it, they use repeated (at an interval of 5-7 days) washing the plant with a solution of soap, spraying garlic infusion (1 head of finely chopped garlic per glass of water, leave for 2 days), tobacco infusion (40 g per 1 l of water).

Yellowing and Falling of Foliage

This problem may have different causes.

In this case, you need to take care to rearrange the mandarin closer to the light, or arrange it artificial lighting.

Mandarin leaves can be discharged due to too dry air (in the absence of regular spraying, especially during the heating season), improper transplantation (when the root neck is deep, choosing a too large pot volume), drafts. If you find one of these reasons, they just need to be eliminated.

Drying and dropping of the lower leaves of the mandarin, despite the fact that the leaf begins to dry from the tip, is associated with regular waterlogging of the soil. This phenomenon occurs either as a result of excessive care, or because of a too large pot in relation to the seedling. In any case, the plant must be transplanted into the appropriate pot with fresh loose (breathable) soil, after removing the rotten roots.

If yellowing began from the bottom of the crown and extends to the top - this indicates a lack of nitrogen. In this case, the mandarin must be fed with nitrogen fertilizers.

The light yellow color of the young leaves of the mandarin, which gradually passes over to the old leaves, indicates chlorosis (iron deficiency). Here will help the processing of iron chelate.

Mandarin leaves fall for no apparent reason - the plant may be lacking potassium. In this case, it is necessary to feed potassium nitrate.

How to sprout mandarin pit

Bones should be selected from ripe fruit. The best time will be the season of active fruiting, that is, in the winter. Mandarin seeds should be round, without damage, blackening, not thin, not cracked. To check the seeds for good quality, they must be thrown into the water. Heavy will sink, and light, empty will remain to float on the surface.
For germination, it is better to select about 10 seeds. Some of them will not germinate, and some will die from disease, or during vaccination.
Do not plant dry seeds immediately into the soil. In order for them to settle down better, the bones should be allowed to swell and grow. This can be done in 2 ways:

  1. In gauze, moistened with water, wrap the seeds for 3-5 days. Do not pour gauze with water, it is better if the fabric is just wet. Periodically it needs to be moistened so as not to dry.
  2. The second method is a convenient hydrogel, which can be bought at any flower shop. Then the bones will be constantly hydrated and will not require wetting.

Bones may well slip without soaking. But this time will need more.

Meet, this is a tangerine, a resident of exotic countries, the owner of a familiar fragrance, unpretentious to care, hardy and long-lived. Elegant branches, shiny leaves, white fragrant flowers and tasty fruits (with proper patient care) make it a welcome guest in every home. The plant propagates either by transplanting seedlings or by planting seeds, which can be simply pulled out of any tangerine. The tree belongs to the family of rutovy, evergreen foliage is replaced rarely enough - once every four years. Tangerines at home from seed, in the end, bear fruit, but they are “wild”, not different taste. To change the situation, then grafting is applied. Next, we will step by step consider all the procedures that can squeeze the maximum out of the tangerine seed.

The plant propagates either by transplanting seedlings or by planting seeds

From seed to tree

Every gardener knows that if you plant a seed in the ground as it is, it may not work. Therefore, as a rule, before seeds allow to soak and germinate. They are soaked in gauze, and after a few days the “roots” hatch. Avoid excess moisture - the seeds must always be in a humid environment, but not float in it. For a guarantee, they germinate not one or two, but a dozen or one and a half seeds, since many of them will die before planting and rooting. A moist, effective medium for growing seeds, is also created by a special hydrogel. It can be purchased at many garden stores. The advantage of a hydrogel is that it not only nourishes the seeds, but also creates the best microclimate. It is important not just to scatter the bones on the surface, but to immerse them in the middle of the layer.

Plant should be planted on the south side, avoiding the neighborhood of poisonous plants, if any. When it germinates, it comes time to transplant. Both pot and box are suitable for this purpose. Before pouring the soil into the pot, lay the bottom with small pebbles or expanded clay, ensuring drainage. Pick the soil carefully, avoiding the peat - the peat dries out too quickly, it easily sours, and not too nutritious. The most suitable soil composition for mandarins is made from the following ingredients:

  • Three pieces of turf soil,
  • According to one part of leafy soil, sand and rotted manure,
  • Some clay, or part of clay soil.

If you do not have the opportunity to independently make such a composition that it is quite common for city dwellers, the neutral soils will be no less nutritious. Excellent proven “Biohumus"And"the Rose”.

When the first sprouts appear, feed them with fertilizers; both mineral and organic will be required. The best option - special fertilizers for citrus plants. Fertilizing should be done every two weeks, immediately after watering. To give tangerine truly sweet fruit, it is especially actively fed from mid-spring to early autumn.

For the first eight years of a tangerine tree, repot the tree every spring, and then every two years. At the same time, the root system is removed and transplanted along with the ground into which it has sprouted, only the surrounding layer changes.

Make sure that the temperature of the air, where mandarin grows, is always above 13 degrees of heat. Dry air is harmful to the plant, so it is recommended to put the pot with it surrounded by dishes with water. In the hot season, the tangerine bush requires abundant watering with room water — long hours, several times a day, and in cold weather, as the soil dries out (about 2-3 times in 7 days). Spraying is done weekly.

  3. As carefully as possible, cut a small layer of wood with a kidney from the graft, it should be immediately inserted into the incision.
  4. Wind the incision site with adhesive tape, fixing the graft on the stock.
  5. For a month, keep the grafted sprout under a plastic bag or a small jar cap. This is necessary to create the desired microclimate of high humidity.
  6. Since in a month the sap flow period is already over, for the guarantee, repeat the procedure several more times on the same day - at least one kidney, but it will germinate.
  7. By germination, it is time to free the germ from the bud from the winding, and then accustom it to the fresh air, increasingly removing it from the bag.
  8. A month later, making sure that the new shoot was growing rapidly, cut off the old trunk that belongs to the stock. It is necessary to make a cut obliquely, close to the shoot (about 0.3 cm above).
  9. To prevent the plant from losing its juice, the cut is smeared with garden pitch. Thus, the juice will now get a new, fruiting escape. He also needs to help grow vertically by installing a small rail next to it.

In greenhouses, fruit plants are produced by grafting. Therefore, if you want to feast on juicy fruits, then you will need to instill an exotic pet. But first of all it will be necessary to sprout a bone, and to make room on the lightest window-sill.

We prepare the soil

Citrus fruits do not like sour dried earth. For them, the earth mixture should not contain peat. The stores sell soils, which include peat. therefore it is better to prepare the mixture yourself. It should include:

  • leaf ground - 2 parts,
  • humus - 2 parts,
  • sand - 1 part.

The result should be a light, good ground and air permeable. If there is no possibility to prepare such a soil, then in specialized stores you can buy a special mixture for citrus or for roses.

Planting pits in the ground

Hatching seeds first planted in boxes for seedlings or individual disposable small cups. At the bottom of the tank you need to put drainage in the form of expanded clay, perlite, nut, shards or pebbles.

In the prepared soil, seeds are sown to a depth of 4 cm, and sprinkled with earth on top. Rassatnye containers covered with glass or cellophane, and placed in a warm place. Get a greenhouse effect, and the seedlings will ascend quickly and together.

After the seeds have come, they will be tediously rearranged to a bright place, shaded from direct sunlight. The temperature in the room where the seedlings of citrus plants grow should be at least + 20C. Do not forget to moisten the earth in time.

When the seedlings grow and get stronger, they can be transplanted into pots, the volume of which should be about 4 liters. Transplantation is best done by way of handling, so as not to damage the roots. In this case, young bushes soon take root in a new place.

Peculiarities of citrus tree care

Mandarin loves the sun, so you need to choose a bright place for it, preferably on the southern window-sill. However, care must be taken that the midday rays do not burn the leaves of the bush.

At home, caring for an exotic pet is required observe the following rules:

  1. Regularly water and spray the plant, because citrus is vital for high humidity. Water should be defended at least three days with water. Watering should be regular and abundant. Increased humidity can be achieved by spraying. It would also be nice to moisten the air around the plant with a pallet with wet expanded clay, peat or moss, placed near the pot with mandarin.
  2. A young plant every spring must be transplanted into larger pots. This should be done without damaging the integrity of the soil around the root system. An eight-year-old transplant plant requires every two years.
  3. Two weeks after the appearance of the first shoots, they need to start feeding. To date, there are special citrus fertilizers on the market, which are recommended for use. Top dressing should be made only after watering. Dry soil with a solution of fertilizer is better not to water, because you can burn the roots.

Protection of mandarin from pests

Citrus pets at home often get sick, and then die from pests. Most exotic pets suffer from attacks:

  • scythes,
  • citrus whitefly,
  • spider mite,
  • aphids.

These invisible at first sight pests feed on sap plants. As a result, the bush is exhausted, the leaves fall, and the tree dies.

Young plants from time to time need to inspect. And, seeing the smallest spider web or the pests themselves, it is necessary to take urgent measures:

  1. It is necessary to wash the bush well under the shower. Spider mite is very afraid of water.
  2. At home, it is better to use folk remedies in the form of infusion of onion peel or garlic. Well helps and processing "green soap".
  3. A heavily infected plant requires the use of chemicals, which include "Fitoverm" and "Aktelik."

Sometimes around the pet you can see the flies that inhabit the wet ground. Their larvae could already be in the purchase ground, or appeared from constant waterlogging. When such flies appear, the ground should be loosened, dried, and sprinkled with the “Thunder-2” preparation.

How to instill mandarin at home?

To grow a tree bearing fruit, can not do without vaccination. The best time for it is August, April and the beginning of May.

To vaccinate an exotic pet you need to prepare:

  1. The stock is a mandarin tree grown from a stone, the trunk of which must be at least 6 mm in diameter.
  2. The graft is a fresh peephole or a stalk cut off from a fruiting citrus bush. The branch of the plant from which the graft will be taken should be no older than two years. Variety of mandarin can be purchased at a flower shop or greenhouse.
  3. Inoculum inoculum knife.
  4. Elastic tape.
  5. Garden var.

After everything is prepared, you can begin to vaccinate.

  1. First of all, an incision in the form of a letter T is made on the stock. It should be located at a height of 10 cm, and have a vertical length of 2-4 cm, and horizontally - 1 cm.
  2. Leaf blades and spikes are removed from the graft, and it is gently inserted into the incision.
  3. The junction is wrapped with tape.
  4. The bush is closed on top with a plastic bag or a can.
  5. About a month later, after the bud germinates, the plant needs to be aired daily.
  6. Airing time is gradually increasing. A month later, the stock stem is cut diagonally. Make it necessary to 3 cm above escape. The cut is processed by garden pitch.

Now your tree is grafted, and soon, with proper care and cultivation, will begin to bear fruit.

As can be seen from the instructions, planting and growing a fruiting exotic tree in your house is not so difficult. The main thing, have patience and strictly follow all recommendations. As a result, a tangerine bush grown from a bone will complement a homely atmosphere with coziness, comfort and a pleasant aroma.
