Features of growing and caring for ampella petunia

When the hot summer comes and everything around is blooming with various shades, turning into a paradise greenhouse with a unique palette and texture, many owners of private houses, villas and country houses think about the design of the backyard area with something beautiful. In search of creative solutions, many prefer the eternal classics in the form of lush flowers, which quickly turn into an incredibly stylish decoration for a balcony or summer cottage.

Among the most interesting ways to transform the design of the facade of your house - landing ampelous petunia. This plant has very beautiful long shoots with a large and bright flower. They can be hung on the balcony, installed in a drawer or arranged around a garden path. As a result, such actions will create a special colorful and summer atmosphere around you.

Who is engaged in cultivation of ornamental plants for quite a long time knows that petunia is considered very whimsical "green friend". Its homeland is considered to be tropical regions with a humid and hot climate, where there is an abundance of precipitation and prolonged contact with direct sunlight.

However, as a result of the hard work of experienced breeders, many hybrid varietieswho have become more favorable to their owners in terms of the choice of conditions of detention, and at the same time they look very magnificent, elegant and graceful. Ampel petunia differs from cascade only in name. In fact, the two types are completely similar and it makes no sense to compare them with each other. Someone used to call a flower ampelny, while someone calls it a cascade.

Famous varieties

Today we can distinguish a lot of varieties of ampelous petunia, due to which it is a universal plant and has no analogues of its kind. Every novice gardener can pick up something that is ideal for its capabilities. Among the most common varieties:

  • Variety "Snow Queen". It is characterized by a unique aroma and bright color, represented by snow-white tones. The plant remains very clean and light,
  • Sort "Explorer". It boasts a large variety of colors and shades. Often reaches one and a half meters in height. The flower is very large and strong, due to which it lives quietly in our latitudes and remains healthy despite any climatic changes,
  • Variety "Catherine". Representatives of the variety have orange inflorescences with characteristic flowers with a diameter of 6 cm,
  • Variety "Black Velvet". Treats the most unusual grades at which large black inflorescences with a diameter of flowers up to 8 centimeters,
  • Milliflora variety. The main characteristic of the variety is its compact size, due to which it will become a valuable find for connoisseurs of compactness and touchingness.

As for terry varieties of petunias, they are distinguished by some whimsicalness in terms of care. They are very capricious and tender, so they are grown only in enclosed spaces, subject to certain conditions and rules.

Growing petunias at home and planting them

Petunia is considered to be the favorite flower of many gardeners, moreover, as beginners and more experienced professionals. Currently, there are two groups of such plants:

Spray Petunias will be a bright addition to the backyard landscape, while representatives of this type will perfectly complement the pots that are hung on the balconies and verandas. To bloom was successful, it is important to ensure the flower competent care.

If you have never engaged in the cultivation of petunia ampelnoe, you should carefully study all the features of the upcoming lesson, following the advice of professional florists and established rules. Sowing seedlings from seeds carried out in February, if possible, to provide additional illumination for seedlings. If this is not possible, then it is better to postpone the landing to mid-March, when the light day will become longer and sufficient for the full growth of the flower. Among the main requirements for the composition of the soil:

  • friability,
  • nutritional value
  • ease,

To obtain a similar soil, it is necessary to combine two parts of peat, two parts of sod and leaf earth, two parts of humus and one part of sand. The upper part of the soil is pre-screened, and the day before planting it is watered. For a more successful germination, it is advisable to mix the seeds with dry sand or pour them onto the prepared soil. For germination it needs to be covered with film and glass, maintaining the temperature up to 21-22 degrees Celsius.

A week after planting the first seedlings should appear through the ground. They need to provide enhanced care, which consists of a two-time spraying with water and airing. It is also important to take care of sufficient humidity. When leaving should provide reliable protection against the formation of dangerous condensate that can cause the development of diseases and pests. After the appearance of the first leaf, it is better to remove the plastic film.

Watering and feeding

As already mentioned petunia is a very demanding plant. In order for the cultivation to be as successful as possible, it must be provided with optimal access to nutrients from top-dressing, as well as balanced watering. If you do not hold such important activities, it may cause stickiness on the leaves. Experienced owners of this exotic plant are advised to give preference to ready-made mineral compounds for plant nutrition and to conduct similar activities with each watering. To do this, you can use the following scheme:

  • The first week you need to water the plant with water and humates,
  • The second week to watering add the use of potassium sulfate,

Observing such recommendations, you can improve the productivity of plant growth and make it truly lush and beautiful.

Planting the plant in open soil

Sprouted cuttings are immediately placed in open ground for permanent stay. At the same time, such a landing should be carried out taking into account the following features:

  • The most optimal time for landing is an evening in cloudy weather,
  • It is recommended to dive the seedling together with the soil from the tank in which it grew earlier,
  • The size of the recess for planting should have a diameter of 10x10 centimeters,
  • Between seedlings need to maintain a certain distance. It is determined by the size of the flower. If the petunia has large flowers, then this distance should vary within 24 centimeters. If the flower is not large, 19 centimeters is enough. Between the bushes is better to leave about 29 centimeters of free distance,
  • After replanting, it is advisable to root the flower with peat or humus. Such measures will provide reliable protection against possible low temperatures, as well as provide an opportunity to maintain optimal humidity,
  • After all the re-planting activities, the ground is watered again.

Features care and collection of seeds

To bloom petunia was lush and constant, it is important to regularly remove wilted flowers, because it is in them that ready-made seeds are formed. When the flowering period begins, it is important to carefully assess the condition of the lower inflorescences and identify some buds. Faded buds must fully mature. Only in this case, you can start collecting seeds. For full ripening of seeds it takes from two to two and a half months, depending on growing conditions.

It is important to understand that the productivity of seed collection is largely provided by the plant variety. For example, it is very difficult to carry out such a procedure with representatives of the terry variety, since such specimens are very unstable for further cultivation. According to the experience of experienced flower growers, even if the seed collection was carried out correctly, taking into account all the subtleties and peculiarities, there are no guarantees that they will provide the basis for a new, healthy plant. Sometimes the result looks very strange, because the sprouted plant gets a different size, color and shape.

Disease. Care for a diseased plant

All exotic plants are exposed to various pests and diseases. Ampel petunia is no exception. If leaves have become withered or yellow in the species, it is advisable to evaluate them for the presence of dangerous pests or fungal microorganisms. In addition, there are many other signs that indicate a serious disease of the plant and the need to provide it with more thorough care. Among the most common diseases are the following:

  • Blackleg. It is characterized by a black, watery stem and appears through too dense planting or excessive watering. The causative agent of the disease is a dangerous fungus. The disease spreads very quickly, which is characterized by pale colors and the destruction of the leg. For treatment, it is necessary to process the flower with a special suspension.
  • Gray rot. With the disease, the plant is covered with a bloom of gray color, which soon causes rotting of individual parts of the flower. The causative agent is an imperfect fungal microorganism that appears as a result of prolonged contact with low temperatures, uncomfortable lighting or too abundant irrigation. Also the problem may be caused by a thick landing. To combat it is recommended to use different biological products and chemicals. The particular efficacy of treatment is noticeable only in the early stages
  • Brown spot. This problem is represented by the appearance of characteristic spots on the leaves, which causes the flower to wilt in the future. The reason for this kind of event is high humidity or a number of mechanical damage. For treatment, it is better to use spraying with high-copper drugs,

To prevent the further development of various diseases should take care of proper watering and the optimal distance between the bushes during planting. You also need to ensure optimal temperature conditions, which determines the active and productive growth of the plant in the hanging pot,

Varieties and types

Popular varieties:

  1. Explorer This species has the longest sprouts. Their size can reach up to one and a half meters. In addition, this plant is powerful and not afraid of gusty winds. Large flowers have a wax surface that protects the variety from rain.
  2. Black velvet. The variety has an original color and heavily branched shoots. The inflorescences are large, reaching a diameter of 9 cm. Black petals have a velvet surface.
  3. The Snow Queen. The size of the shoots can reach up to 85 cm. White inflorescences exude an unforgettable delicate aroma. Petunia looks perfect in hanging pots and will be a good addition to any landscape decoration.
  4. Svetlana Variety with lush sprawling shoots. Wavy inflorescences have pink streaks and snow-white openwork edging.
  5. Catherine. It has large inflorescences of bright salmon color.
  6. Masha. Strong branchy hybrid. The inflorescences have a rich pink color with a golden heart up to 8 cm in diameter.
  7. Ramplin Neon Rose. Large-flowered variety with purple buds. The plant has a meter shoots, which bloom a lot of flowers.

Breeding methods

Petunia can be propagated: seeds and cuttings.

Petunia cuttings.

Before the grafting process, a uterine plant must be prepared. Since the rooting procedure itself takes place in the spring, it is necessary to harvest them in the fall. To do this, in August, choose a healthy plant and carefully prune all elongated shoots. The bush is placed in a room with air temperature not higher than 12 degrees. During the winter period, the plant may lose its decorative effect, but do not be discouraged, since during this period the petunia is in a sleeping period. With timely care, the plant will rise and begin intensive growth.

To grafting should begin only after careful research uterine plants. A strong plant can grow only when planting healthy cuttings. Cuttings are cut to a length of 10 cm. Lower foliage is removed, and the upper leaves are cut to ½. Prepared cuttings deepened to 5 cm in loose nutrient soil at a distance of 2−3 cm from each other.

For quick rooting cuttings need to create a favorable microclimate. To do this, you need to make a micropick. Saplings take root only at 12 hour daylight, therefore, with a lack of light, additional lighting should be installed. Care of seedlings is timely spraying and watering. Watering is best done through the pan.

After the appearance of 2−3 young leaves the plant is transplanted to a prepared place. It must be remembered that the ampelous petunia does not like constant transplants. If the plant grows in open ground, you must wait until the soil is fully heated.

Seed propagation.

To multiply petunia seeds long and difficult. In order to grow petunia from seeds, it is necessary to acquire high-quality seed and ensure that it has an air temperature not lower than 25 degrees.

Before sowing, the soil is spilled with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Petunia has very small seeds and, therefore, they are sown superficially into the prepared soil. Capacity with seeds covered with glass or polyethylene and clean in a warm bright place. It is not recommended to open it within two weeks. During this period, care is only to collect condensate from covering material.

When the first shoots appear, they need to be opened for a short time to improve air microcirculation.

During this period, care is to spray and feed seedlings. Every day airing is carried out for a longer period. When 2–3 leaves appear, the shelter is removed completely.

Care rules

In order for the plant to enjoy lush flowering, it is necessary to ensure its proper care. Since the flower is not particularly whimsical, it is necessary to follow simple rules:

  1. Pinching a young plant. Without timely pinching, the plant looks sloppy. For the formation of a fluffy cap, you must pinch the shoot after 4-5 leaves. This procedure allows the plant to increase lateral shoots. The second pinching is carried out 14 days after the first.
  2. Lighting. Petunia is a light and heat-loving plant. When grown in the shade, the plant lags behind in development, and the flowers bloom small and inconspicuous. Therefore, it is necessary to grow petunia in a well-lit place, especially since with timely watering the plant tolerates even open sun.
  3. Temperature. The plant quietly tolerates minor climate changes. Even at a temperature of zero degrees petunia will continue to delight in its flowering until the first frost.
  4. Watering. Petunia loves water and therefore it is impossible to allow the earthen clod to dry out. In the hot and dry summer, the plant is watered in the morning and evening hours, but so that the moisture does not linger on the soil surface. Therefore, before planting on the bottom of the pot you need to put a layer of drainage, which will protect the soil from waterlogging.
  5. With insufficient watering, petunia loses its decorative effect. The leaves lose their saturated color and become sluggish, and the buds, before they open, begin to fall.
  6. Fertilizers. For lush blooming, ampelous petunia is fed twice a month with complex mineral fertilizers containing an increased amount of potassium. From him, the number of buds in the plant increases, and the color becomes saturated bright color.
  7. In the period of growth you need to timely remove wilted flowers. This is necessary for the rapid emergence of new buds, as well as to preserve the decorative appearance of the plant.

Diseases and pests

With proper petunia care, you can not think about diseases. But there are unforeseen circumstances under which a plant may suffer from such diseases and pests:

  1. Spider mite It is possible to detect this insect by the appearance of a thin web and white spots on the foliage. When untimely help mite quickly spreads to other plants, destroying them completely. The treatment consists in treating the flower with folk remedies or using acaricides.
  2. Thrips. At defeat flowers and buds start to be deformed, foliage gets white dried strips. Petunia can be saved by treating it with insecticides.
  3. Mealy dew. The sheet plate is covered on both sides with a white coating. This plaque interferes with the process of photosynthesis, with the result that the sheet dries out, twists and falls. To avoid mass infection, the affected leaves are removed, and the plant is treated with garlic or mustard infusions or one of the preparations: Topaz, Scor, Bravo.
  4. Gray rot. The first sign of the disease is the appearance of black spots on the leaf, which eventually grow and destroy the leaf plate. To get rid of gray rot, you must promptly remove the damaged leaves and use: Trichodermin, Skor or Topaz, separating them strictly according to the instructions.
  5. Blackleg. Petunia seedlings often suffer from this disease. With the disease, the stem turns black, softens and rots.

Among the large number of varieties, you can easily choose a plant that harmoniously fits into the landscape decor of your backyard.

Petunia ampelous: description of the plant

Petunias are eagerly used for growing in the garden, in flowerbeds, decorating balconies, verandas. It has the most diverse color of flowers, which can bloom no larger than a coin or reach 9–10 cm in diameter. All this diversity is divided into two main groups: upright and ampelous petunias. The length of the shoots of upright plants reaches 70 cm, but after stretching upward, they gradually fall to the ground. These varieties often take to plant in the flower beds.

The latter is characterized by long hanging shoots, which are used as a living decoration. In some varieties, the length of the loops reaches one and a half meters. Petunia is grown in pots, baskets, boxes. Sometimes it is used as a ground cover in the garden, on alpine hills, used in flower cascades.

Some experts single out another group of petunias - semi-amber It grows a lush bush with shoots no more than 40 cm and is used mainly as an indoor plant.

The plant has a variety of flowers in color. They can be monophonic, with two or three tones. At the same time, hearts, veins, a border around the edges and even just specks can be painted in a different color. Flowers of bell-shaped form can be terry or semi-double, corrugated, carved, fringed or smooth.

Hybrid varieties have evolved in two ways: many-flowered and large-flowered. Each such amunium petunia has specific rules for planting and care. So, many-flowered considered unpretentious. They are sufficiently watered in time, periodically adding fertilizer to the water, and provide sufficient lighting. They give small, up to 5 cm in diameter, but numerous flowers. Faded inflorescences disappear independently.

Large-flowered can reach 10 cm in diameter, but gives not such plentiful flowering. However, their care is needed more thorough. They need a certain amount of light, heat, specific soil composition, as well as regular pruning of faded buds.

How to plant an ampelous petunia

As a rule, the cultivation of ampelous petunia begins with the sowing of seeds. In order for the plant to bloom as early as possible, they are engaged in sowing in February, as the plant develops very slowly. You can sow it in March, but you must take into account the characteristics of the variety and the conditions in which the flower will grow. It is noted that the large-flowered petunias give the first flowers at 85–90 days after sowing, and small-flowered ones - at 70–75 days. In any case, at the beginning of the growing season of the plant, he needs to provide additional illumination.

You can plant and flowering plant, buying it in a specialized store. In this case, you will enjoy flowering until late autumn.

Choosing a place for a plant

When choosing a place for a petunia, keep in mind that she loves light very much. It will suit the south side, where during the day is the maximum of the sun. The site itself should be open and not shaded. To plant a plant in the open ground can only be sure that it does not catch frost on the ground. As a rule, this is the second half of May. The landing itself is carried out in the evening or on an overcast day.

If you want to land a petunia in the apartment, also choose the southern window-sills. In case of insufficient lighting, place fluorescent lamps in order to lengthen the light day for the plant to 14–20 hours.

Soil requirements

In the question of how to plant a petunia, it is important to determine the correct composition of the soil. In order for the flower to give a lush flowering, the mind needs a loose and nutritious soil with a sufficient level of moisture capacity. Therefore, it will suit loamy, sandy, sandy sandy soil.

Before planting, it is desirable to dig up it with leaf humus or rotted manure. But fresh organic matter must be abandoned, as it provokes fungal diseases.

Basic rules for planting seedlings of ampelous petunia

There are several basic rules for planting a petunia ampelous seedling. If you stick to them, you will definitely grow a healthy and luxuriantly flowering plant.

First of all, select high-quality seeds from western manufacturers for sowing. So you are guaranteed to get good germination of seeds. Choose the right and high-quality primer in a specialty store. Before sowing, it is desirable to ignite it in the oven or disinfect it with special means.

Observe planting dates. It is necessary to engage in germinating seeds not earlier than February, but not later than April. Strictly adhere to the recommendations for sowing and planting seedlings of a particular variety. So, the seedlings need to swoop in time. In the open ground it is planted along with an earthy clod, so as not to damage the root system. Amunia petunia has its own planting pattern: there must be a distance of at least 30 cm between bushes. It is important to plant water after planting, and to mulch the planted area the next day.

Water the plant regularly, focusing on the amount of water consumed by flowers. Strict temperature conditions are important only when growing seedlings. Seeds should germinate at a temperature of 18–20 ° C, and spike at a temperature of 16–18 ° C. But the most important is the mode of refreshment. Until the seedlings grow and mature, it should be lit at least 14 hours a day. The entire period of vegetation petunia requires feeding. For this, liquid or granular fertilizers are used.

How to trim ampelous petunia, form a bush

Even when the petunia is well groomed, by the middle of summer shoots from the root to the middle of the length shed their leaves, and flowering remains only at the ends of the branches. In order to preserve the aesthetics of the plant, it is necessary to carry out activities for the formation of the bush. To do this, without special pity, cut off about two-thirds of the shoot, despite the fact that there remains almost a bare branch.

Amun petunia is precisely trimmed, pinching in this case will not help much. If only the end of the shoot is removed, new shoots on the exposed part will not appear anyway. To avoid the lack of aesthetics of such a procedure, it can be carried out in several stages, cutting off two to three branches with an interval of a week.

Amulet petunia: pinching

To flower was lush and flowering, it must be pinned. This will save the branches from possible damage during growth, ensure the emergence of new shoots and the density of the bush.

How to pinch ampelnoe petunia correctly? As with any other plant, you must remove the tip of the shoot, especially if it is too stretched. Together with him it is necessary to pinch off all the bloomed buds, especially if the seed boxes appeared on them. Otherwise, the plant will put all its forces on their formation, and you will not see any more flowers.

Seed propagation

If you decide to grow a flower from seed, then buy fresh from the store. It is not recommended to collect them independently from petunias growing in the area. Most of the varieties that are represented in stores today are hybrid. This means that not all signs of the mother bush are transferred to the next generation, and in the end you will get a degenerate variety. In addition, if you have several varieties on the plot, they are likely to re-pollinate. And some varieties are not able to set up seeds at all, such as, for example, terry.

Purchased seeds are sown in a well-hydrated loose nutrient soil, poured into special boxes. Seeds are not sprinkled with soil, but covered with a transparent film or glass so that they are sufficiently illuminated.

Good seed germination is achieved at a temperature of 22–24 ° C and air humidity of 95-98%. Sprouts make their way in about a week or two. With the first sheet remove the shelter. Every day they must be sprayed and gradually reduce the temperature. By the time the seedlings in the box get stronger, the ambient air temperature should be 18–20 ° C during the day and 14–16 ° C at night.

About a month after sowing, when there are at least two leaves on sprouts, they dive, deepening the sprout in the ground to the first leaf. The growth of seedlings can be very slow, because at this time all the forces of the plant go to the formation of the root system. When it forms two or three more leaves, it is necessary to carry out a picking.

Do not forget to water the seedlings in time and sufficiently, but at the same time avoid stagnant moisture. Young sprouts are prone to black leg disease.

Before planting seedlings in open ground, it must be well tempered. Properly prepared plants feel good even when the temperature drops to 10 ° C.

During reproduction of petunia, grafting is also used. They spend it in February - May, but if you create good conditions for planting material, you can spend it all year round. These conditions include illumination and temperature range of 15–22 ° C. The cuttings are planted in peat tablets, half-liter cups or boxes for seedlings with a suitable soil mixture.

Cuttings from healthy uterine plants are cut at an angle so that the planting material has 4–6 leaves, and the cutting itself is no longer than 10 cm in length. Only two upper leaves are left on it and immediately planted in the ground for a fourth of the leg’s length. When planting in a box, make sure that the distance between the cuttings is not less than 1.5 cm. Seedlings should be covered with glass or transparent film, provide a temperature not lower than 21 ° C and plenty of light.

The roots of the cuttings appear on the 5-10 day. Then they need to take care of in the same way as for seedlings obtained from seeds. When the root system is sufficiently strong, they dive into separate tanks. The advantage of such seedlings is that they give flowering within 20–35 days after planting.

Petuniarelatively undemanding plant. If you provide it with an intense and abundant light and monitor the soil moisture, you can ensure its long flowering. For the pomp of the bush enough time to hold the nip and pruning. It can multiply as cuttings and seeds. The last option is the most profitable, especially if you buy seeds in specialized stores. Among the huge number of varieties and hybrids, you will surely find one that fits perfectly into your garden.

Features of ampelous petunia

Ampel petunia is a herbaceous, perennial culture, spread from tropical countries in South America.

Attracts with its abundant, long flowering, variety of varieties. Flowers funnel-shaped, reaching a diameter of 10 cm. Petals of inflorescences can be simple, double, semi-double, corrugated and with fringe. And color shades from white to dark, almost black.

There are several classifications of petunias. One of them is ampelous, or cascading, which are used in landscape design. Plants have long, falling stems.

Ampelnaya differs from the cascade more elongated - up to 100-120 cm, what attracts in vertical gardening. Her growth points develop horizontally, smoothly falling down. Cascading grow first up, and then under the weight descend, so they are used in the creation of flower balls.

Soil requirement

The flower requires airy, fertile soils, loamy, sandy. At the site of the flowerbed before planting, you can fertilize with rotted manure or leaf humus.

For planting in pots, the boxes use a mixture: 2 parts of soil, 2 parts of peat, 0.5 parts of sand. You can use the store soil or from the site by adding leaf humus and sand.

Selection and preparation of planting material

Examine the different varieties of ampelous petunia and select the best ones for your taste, more suitable for the site design. Buy seeds should be in the store, examining on the package the name of the variety and photo of the plant.

Seeds are very small, are common or in the shell. Conventional - cheaper, germinate faster, but more susceptible to disease. To facilitate sowing, they are mixed with sand. The seed in the shell is more expensive, but it facilitates planting, and the nutrients of the shell stimulate the growth of the culture.

Use for planting their seeds are not recommended. Quite often hybrid varieties are sold, the seeds of these plants do not repeat the quality of the parents. When growing several plants there is a risk of over-pollination of petunia ampelous.

Growing seedlings

Sowing on seedlings from seeds begins in late winter, in early spring, then in early summer buds will appear on the flower.

  1. Boxes, peat cups or disposable cups are chosen for planting, but peat tablets are more convenient, since they already have a prepared substrate for planting.
  2. The containers are filled with soil mixture and moistened with a spray bottle. Peat tablets soaked in water for 4 minutes.
  3. Sowing is carried out using a toothpick or using a sand-seed mixture. Press down lightly.
  4. Cover with foil or glass to create a greenhouse effect. Daily open, air, increasing every day this period. The film is removed after the appearance of the first shoots.
  5. Grown at a temperature of 25 ⁰C. Shoots appear in 1-2 weeks. During this period, the temperature is lowered to 18-22 днC during the day and 14-16 ⁰C at night. The lighting is enhanced with daytime lamps and increases the daylight hours to 14-20 hours. At night, leave a muffled light.

3 weeks after germination (at the stage of 2 true leaves), a picking is carried out. It is necessary for the formation of a strong root system. From the pre-moistened soil transplanted escape with an earthy clod. The temperature is reduced to 14-16 ⁰C. The rapid growth of petunia begins at 6 weeks of age.

Before planting in the open ground, seedlings grown independently or purchased, harden 4-5 days on the street.

Planting acquired plants

Landing on the street is carried out in the evening or on an overcast day in late May or early June. Plants are planted in a bed at a distance of 25-30 cm from each other. When pot growing is required for one plant 3-5 liters of volume and more. Depending on the size, you can calculate how many pieces to plant in pots or pot.

Petunias are planted in one tank with the same growth force, so that weak plants are not oppressed. Up to 4 types of ampelous petunia can be planted in one pot. It will look spectacular if the period of flowering plants is the same.

Watering frequency and water requirements

A flowering plant consumes a lot of water, but does not like waterlogging. And the constant drying of the soil provokes the loss of a beautiful view - the shoots lumber, lose their leaves, the number of flowers decreases, they shrink.

Watering is carried out twice a day, in the morning and evening. Used for this settled water comfortable for the flower temperature. Also in the evening after sunset, it is advisable to spray it with a spray bottle in order to increase humidity and reduce the risk of sunburn.

Favorable temperature and lighting

For active growth and an increase in the number of buds, a temperature of 18-22 ° C is favorable. The plant can withstand a drop in temperature, but freezing is destructive for it. Young shoots are more demanding to a constant temperature of 18-20 ° C.

Bright lighting is the key to the growth of a strong and strong young sapling. Therefore, during the spring sowing, daylight is increased to 14-20 hours with the help of fluorescent lamps.

Rules and methods of pruning

No matter how much you look after, in order to grow an ampelous petunia in a beautiful bush, in the middle of summer its aesthetics deteriorates. Shoots are pulled out, leaves fall, flowering continues only on the tops of the plant.

To restore bushiness pruning. Remove 2/3 of the stem. Although it turns out unattractive, naked appearance, but this procedure stimulates the growth of young, lateral shoots.

Another option is to trim gradually. Every week, cut off part of 2-3 stems. Then a petunia ampelnaya will gradually restore its pomp.

If you plan to save the plant for the next year, carry out autumn pruning. Also 2/3 of the bush. In winter, the flower is stored in a bright, cool room with a temperature of about 10 ⁰C.

The next pruning is carried out in early spring, elongated shoots are removed, causing the growth of lateral points.

Pinching young shoots

The secret to growing bushy seedlings, and subsequently a large flowering plant, is pinching, which is performed twice.

The young shoot reaches a height of 10 cm (2-3 true leaves). After the apex is removed, growth slows down, but later the petunia becomes more lush.

The height of the growth of ampelous petunia reaches 15 cm. Cut pruning is used for propagation by cuttings.

Bud care

Species diversity is represented by large-flowered and small-flowered varieties. As a rule, in large-flowered specimens, buds appear on the 85-90th day, with small ones on the 70-75th day.

Proper cultivation and care of the ampelous petunia consist in regular cutting of faded flowers and seed pods. This gives the bush an aesthetic appearance and stimulates the formation of new inflorescences.

Fertilizer selection and application dates

Feeding is carried out every week, excluding the winter period. The first - a week after landing in the ground. Well suited complex potassium phosphate fertilizers for flowering plants.

For prophylaxis, regular watering with potassium permanganate solution is carried out.

Among the dangerous diseases for adult ampelous petunias are gray rot (brown spots are formed on the leaves, a fluffy scurf appears). Causes - high humidity, temperature below 14 ° C, excess nitrogen.

“When aphids appear, the plant is washed in the shower. If the lesions are strong, use insect repellents. ”

Grades of ampelous petunia

Ampel petunia surprises with its diversity. The names of the varieties and their beauty in the photo attract in terms of breeding and design of the landscape area, terraces or loggias. New hybrid varieties are striking in their beauty and grace.

"Velveteen". Ampel petunias with these varietal names have a velvety surface of the petals and leaves. To speed up late flowering, use growth regulator and double pinching. Possess excellent melliferous properties, and attract insects.

Shock Wave. Hybrid. Simple and double flowers appear 2 weeks earlier than other species. Flower diameter reaches 3-4 cm, and shoots with emerald foliage grow up to 70 cm. It is used for indoor cultivation and in the winter.

A new hybrid of this “deep glass” series, featuring early flowering and rapid growth, has been introduced. A scattering of bright colors of 5-6 cm in size pleases the whole season. Long stems up to 90 cm resistant to breakage. The variety is used for vertical gardening and as a ground cover.

"Avalanche". Decorative variety creates a beautiful view on the balconies, gazebos, flower beds. It is characterized by long flowering, variety of shades.

Among them, reviews of the petunia "avalanche yellow star f1" characterize it as a beautifully prostrate plant with two-tone white-yellow buds with a diameter of 7-9 cm.

Hybrid saplings upright, reaching 60 cm, fall. Demanding bright lighting and regular feeding.

"Opera supri". Hybrid variety of Japanese selection. The plant grows up to 120 cm in length, has a good covering. It is unpretentious for the length of daylight, but requires large volumes to grow, up to 8 liters per root, and regular pruning.

The flower of this variety “opera red” from June to October pleases with bright colors with a diameter of 8 cm.

Rapunzel. Ampel petunia with falling shoots up to 80 cm. The stems are covered with flowers of 8 cm. The difference of this variety is in its drought resistance, therefore it is successfully used in the refinement of balconies, arbors, and loggias.

Proper cultivation and care of the ampelous petunia is the basis for creating spectacular compositions in garden and balcony decoration. For lush growth and flowering, it is important to create the necessary conditions: bright lighting, timely watering, pinching and a sufficient amount of land.

Features of planting and caring for ampelous petunia, growing at home

Most Popular:

  • "Snow Queen" - a variety with white flowers that exude a wonderful aroma and refreshing the landscape.
  • "Explorer" - a representative with powerful shoots, covering flowers of various colors, easily tolerates bad weather.
  • "Masha" - a plant with shoots of 80 cm, which are covered with alternate, short leaf leaves and small pink or yellow flowers.
  • "Catherine" - an orange hybrid with small flowers, the diameter of which does not exceed 6 cm.
  • "Svetlana" - an elegant variety with flowers, stand out pink veins and branched shoots up to 1 m.
  • “Black velvet” - a distinctive feature of the variety is the almost black color of flowers with a diameter of up to 8 cm.
  • "Ramblin Neon Rose" - decorative large-flowered form of ampelous petunia, growing in width up to 1 meter.

Sowing seeds is carried out in late winter - early spring as follows:

  1. Capacity for seedlings is disinfected and filled with a light, fertile substrate with a loose structure.
  2. The soil is pre-ignited in the oven to destroy pathogens and larvae of pests, and then it is poured on with a strong solution of manganese directly in the box.
  3. After the soil has slightly "shaken off", the seed is distributed over its surface.
  4. The container is covered with glass and installed in a warm, shaded place.
  5. After the emergence of seedlings and the development of 3 pairs of true leaves in them, the protective glass is removed, and the seedlings are swooped in separate containers, which are moved to diffused light where they are kept until the return frost in the garden is passed.
  6. During the growth of seedlings, to ensure the lush blooming of petunias, the seedlings are fed with mineral fertilizers twice a month and are systematically moistened to prevent the earthen clod from drying out.

Planting in open ground

In late spring, when the soil warms up sufficiently and stable heat comes, you should start planting home-grown seedlings into open ground.

It is worth to land a petunia in the evening or on cloudy days in previously prepared holes.

Planting pits with dimensions of 10x10 cm are dug out in sunny or slightly shaded areas with a distance of 25 cm. The soil on the site should be fertile and loose with good drainage properties. After planting copies of the beds, it is recommended to mulch, which will allow you to maintain the required level of moisture in the trunk circles.

How to care for the soil

It is recommended to loosen the beds several times during the growing season, ensuring the soil looseness and free air circulation. Covering the near-stem circles with a layer of peat mulch will prevent the rapid evaporation of moisture and save time on loosening.

Pruning and shaping the bush

The formation of ampelous petunia suggests the timely shortening of overgrown stems by ⅔ of the length, which will preserve the attractiveness of the bushes and prevent their lower part from being exposed.

Due to the fragility of long shoots of petunia under the influence of wind and precipitation, it is recommended to systematically carry out sanitary pruning to remove the injured parts of the green mass to maintain the decorativeness of the flower and stimulate abundant flowering. Also, as necessary, seed boxes are cut from the spectacular bushes, spoiling the overall appearance of the plant.

Do I need to pinch ampelnoe petunia

To enhance the decorative qualities of the plant by expanding in width and the formation of strongly branching shoots, it is necessary to nip the flower. In order to achieve the task and increase the number of flowers in young plants, all points of growth on the newly emerging shoots are removed.

Fight against diseases and pests

Amulet petunia, subject to the rules of care, is rarely affected by pests and diseases. However, when too thick plantings and in conditions of systematic waterlogging on the plant can be observed manifestations of powdery mildew and gray rot, the spread of which occurs very quickly. At the first symptoms of disease, the affected parts of the shoots are removed and burned, and the remaining plantings are treated with systemic fungicides that prevent the further development of pathogenic fungi.

Among the pests stand out settling the flower at low humidity aphid, thrips and spider mites. In order to prevent attacks should organize the sprinkling of petunias. But if harmful insects are already marked on the plant, the insecticide beds should be treated immediately according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the package.

With green cutting:

  1. From mature shoots, cuttings of 5–6 cm in length are cut, from the bottom of which all foliage is removed.
  2. Individual pots are filled with peat and sand substrate.
  3. The cuttings are buried in the prepared soil and poured with a growth stimulator.
  4. Rooting, in which the cuttings are under protective caps, occurs after 4 to 8 weeks.
  5. During the entire period of landing moistened and ventilated.

Growing in pots

Suspended pots are very often made with the help of ampelous petunias with bright colors, which allow you to maintain the decorative look of plosek for a long time. However, due to the tendency of petunia bushes to grow and thicken, which can cause the development of diseases and loss of attractiveness, the florist must know exactly how many shrubs to plant in one pot. The key parameter in calculating the number of pieces is the diameter of the flowerpots.

To make a flat with a diameter of 30 cm was a spectacular decoration of the garden, it is enough to plant 2 - 3 copies of the ampelous beauty into it.

Amunium petunia is a beautiful flower with a long and lush flowering, which, if you follow simple care procedures, will decorate the garden with bright colors for a long time.

The ampeltic petunia in the flower-pots looks extremely beautiful, creating a colorful summer atmosphere.

Ampel petunia varieties

The varieties of ampelous petunia are very diverse, differ in appearance, length of shoots, as well as growth and adaptation to adverse weather conditions.

Of all the variety of varieties is not so easy to make a choice, all varieties of petunias are beautiful in their own way.

In order to facilitate the selection, the growers conditionally divided the ampelous petunia into two types: the ampels are real and the half ampelled petunia or cascade.

Petunia ampelous and cascade differences:

  • For the ampel are characterized by beautiful falling shoots that resemble a colorful curtain of flowers.
  • Ampel seedling develops horizontally.
  • Cascade petunia begins its growth upwards, as the young shoots grow, under their own weight they lean down. From a cascade petunia, extraordinary balls of flowers of regular shape are obtained.
  • Cascade petunia shoots are significantly shorter.

"Avalanche" - a variety with high decorative properties with a long flowering period. It is often used for the decoration of balconies, arbors, loggias. Growing up, hanging shoots form a spectacular floral avalanche of bright juicy flowers. Petals can be painted in different colors: white, red, saturated orange, blue, purple and pink.

Shock Wave is a cascade grade of petunia, a hybrid form. It has small double flowers (diameter 3-4 cm) and shoots of medium length up to 70 cm. Its peculiarity is that it blooms earlier in 2 weeks of other ampelous hybrids. Shock Wave is easily propagated by cuttings.

Velvet is an ampelous petunia with velvet petals and foliage. This is a wonderful honey plant, attracting a huge number of bees, so gardeners often plant this variety in gardens that lack pollinators. The flowering period is quite late. The variety needs to use growth regulator and pinch so that the flowers are larger.

"Opera Suprim" - unpretentious in the care of a hybrid of the F1 series. It can easily be grown in flat conditions at any time of the year. Grows rapidly even with insufficient light and watering. Timely trimming is required to create an attractive decor element. Remarkably grows on balconies, loggias, hanging down shoots up to 1.2 meters. The buds are small and simple.

“Black velvet” is a handsome man and a favorite of ampelous petunia with spectacular large inflorescences of black color. The velvety petals are up to 8 cm in diameter. The bush is lush, up to 35 cm high. The deep black color looks most advantageous with other bright petunia varieties, creating a contrast against their background.

How to grow seedling of amunium petunias from seeds?

Growing an ampelnoe petunia at home requires attention and preparation: it is necessary to provide seedlings with lighting and a favorable temperature for their growth. Before you start growing seedlings of petunia, you should decide on the type and type of petunia. For a decor of a balcony, arbors ampelny grades will be suitable, and cascade perfectly look in beds.

Prepare a container with soil and sand substrate for planting seeds. Soil should be of high quality, fine fraction containing high-quality peat.

Before planting, fine petunia seeds should be mixed with dry sand (1: 5) and distributed evenly in the soil mixture in a prepared container. Petunia seeds can be clean or coated.

Clean seeds germinate faster and are cheaper in cost, but are not protected from diseases and mechanical damage, as in a shell. Shell - the natural protection of the seed from adverse factors, facilitating the process of sowing. Planted petunia is recommended in February or early March.

Since there is not enough sunlight in winter, in the room where the seedlings will grow, arrange additional lighting. After sowing, the seeds are moistened with an atomizer, and then covered with clear glass or film, maintaining the room temperature up to 25 degrees.

When the first shoots appear, the film or glass is removed, watering the soil should be reduced, since the young shoots do not tolerate moisture well. For growing petunia, complex fertilizers are used in the form of fertilizing with nitrogen fertilizer several times a month.

Ampute petunia pick

For rapid growth and sufficient nutrition, the plants produce a pick. In this case, the petunia is placed in a separate container, transplantation contributes to the formation of a stronger root system. Diving is both an important and difficult point in the care of seedlings.

Young shoots are very fragile, so treat the procedure with extreme caution. A dive is made three weeks after the shoot of the young shoots, when the first leaves appeared on them.

Moisten the soil well and gently pry and remove the seedlings with a wide stick, for example for ice cream, while keeping the lumps of earth on the roots.

The next step is to transfer the seedling into a cup or other small container with moist soil, in which a small hole must be made in advance. Transplantation is carried out together with a lump of earth and compacted.

It is worth noting that in the first months of growth the formation of the root system occurs rather slowly, and the plant reluctantly grows. Already after six weeks after the shoot, their active growth begins.

Planting of amunoi petunia in open ground

When the frosts are over, in May, the plant can be taken out to fresh air, it is recommended to moisturize the soil well. It is possible to transplant into flowerpots much earlier, but on condition that the temperature drops, containers should be brought into the room. Before transplanting into the ground, seedlings should be hardened.

To do this, remove it to fresh air for 5 days. It is necessary to plant a plant at a distance of 20-25 cm, given that the bushes grow quite quickly.

The root with a clod of earth must be moistened, the soil in the tank, where the petunia is transplanted, must be moist, pre-mulched with peat or humus, which will retain moisture and preserve the roots.

Formation of ampelous petunia, how to pinch

The luxurious spreading crown of the cascade petunia is achieved by pinching, which is held twice. When reaching the top of the stem 10 cm, when the shoots are strong enough, will gain strength and begin to stretch, it should be removed. Shoot growth may slow down and side shoots will begin to form.

The result of such an important manipulation - abundant flowering, lush bushes, studded with large buds. The next pinching is done when the length of the shoots is 15 cm. The cut shoots can be put into the water, where they take root and can be planted in boxes or pots.

In order for the stems to grow strong and not break, the ground level in the tank or pot must be at the level of the edge.

Reproduction by cuttings

Petunia can be propagated by cuttings that are cut slightly at an angle. On the shoot should be a few top healthy leaves. Put the cuttings into the water in a warm room, roots will appear in a week, and petunia can be transplanted into the ground. Propagation by grafting has a drawback - petunia bloom begins no earlier than 25-35 days.

Petunia ampelous, care

In order for a petunia to please its bright flowering as long as possible, it is necessary to properly care for it to the Plant, in order to increase its green mass and bud formation, minerals, trace elements and nutrients are necessary.

If you want to get a lush bush with abundant flowering, you should take care of regular petunia feeding. From the beginning of summer, plants should be fed with complex liquid fertilizer for flowering plants.

The first top dressing is made about a week after the planting of the plant in the ground, for this purpose ready-made complex fertilizers with a balanced composition and potassium content are used.

The following feeding is carried out once a week.

Ampel petunia grows remarkably in light, loose, fertile sandy and loamy soils. There is a ban on fertilizing the soil with fresh manure, this will lead to a fungal plant disease.

Optimal fertilizer soil - making rotted manure, rotted foliage. When stretching shoots, it is recommended to cut them in half, thereby providing enhanced growth of lateral new shoots.

With the onset of cold weather, boxes, pots of petunia are brought into the room, where they continue to grow and bloom. During the winter period feeding is stopped.

Diseases of ampelous petunia

Although petunia is rarely a disease, there are some common diseases:

  1. On the leaves and buds, gray and wet rot appears in the form of light brown spots, which eventually become covered with gray fluffy bloom. Infection occurs due to excessive humidity and lowering the temperature below 14 degrees, as well as an excess in nitrogen fertilizer.
  2. Another danger lurking petunia - aphid. With a small amount of them, it is enough to wash it off from the plant with a stream of water, and with abundant contamination, treatment with aphid preparation is required.
  3. With sharp fluctuations in air humidity and temperature, white bloom appears on the leaves and flowers of the plant - powdery mildew, which is removed, and the affected areas are treated with sulfur.

Petunia ampelous: planting in pots

Very elegant and attractive looks ampelina petunia in hanging pots that will decorate the balcony, loggia, gazebo. For one petunia bush, choose a pots of 3-5 liters. The soil should be light, loose and waterproof, it can be purchased at a specialty store or prepared by yourself, mixing the soil with peat and baking powder in proportion

Watering petunia in pots is necessary in the morning and in the evening, and after sunset you should spray the bush with water, this will save the plant from the spider mite. Regularly remove the withered flowers, thus maintaining the decorativeness of the plant: new buds are tied and their long flowering occurs.

The flower does not tolerate overmoistening, so when heavy rains are recommended to bring them under a canopy.

Useful tips for growing in pots

  1. Do not combine in the composition varieties of petunias with different growth forces. Stronger shoots will inhibit weak ones, slowing their growth and flowering.
  2. Do not plant in pots with different flowering time. Pick varieties that require the same conditions for growing. Permissible cultivation in one pots up to four types of petunias.

  • The compositions look beautiful when stronger and taller shoots are located in the center of the pots, and cascade and ampelous varieties hang along the edge.
  • Cache pot or pot should ensure the outflow of water.
  • The place for the flowerpots should be protected from wind, rain, it should be well lit.

Under such conditions, petunia will bloom profusely. In the shade, the plant slows down its growth and stops flowering.

Today there is a huge selection of a wide variety of varieties of ampelous petunia. Each variety is unique and attractive.

Growing luxurious flower cascades in pots, in a box on the balcony or a gazebo at the cottage is not difficult and even a beginning florist can.

Planting and caring for a petunia

A variety of varieties of this beautiful and delicate flower is difficult to convey in words. Miniature and large, terry, small-flowered, large-flowered, floribunda, ampelous and surfinia - the first difficulty faced by the florist is the need to choose the type of seed. After all, you still need to decide on the color of the future decoration of the garden or balcony.

The colors of the long-blooming petunia are similar to the result of the artist’s fantasies. They are pure white or streaked, lemon, lilac, all shades of pink, scarlet and burgundy, with spots, asterisks and stripes. Proper planting and care for the petunia, the photos of which are presented below, depend on the place where it is grown: in pots on the balcony and on the street or in open flowerbeds.

    Planting and growing seedlings

Petunia multiplies mainly by seeds (more rarely, by rooting cuttings).

For planting, take the number of seeds with a margin, as their sowing in early spring with insufficient lighting or other adverse conditions does not guarantee one hundred percent germination. Terry varieties sometimes germinate less than 50%.

If there is no additional lighting for the seedlings at home, the seeds are sown in the second half of March. With special lamps, you can sow seeds in February.

The soil for seeds should be lightweight and contain sufficient nutrients. The top layer of 1 cm is desirable to sift to obtain a uniform consistency.

The day before sowing, the soil is moistened.

Small seeds mixed with sand are scattered on the already wet ground, sprayed with water from a spray bottle, covered with glass (in its absence, a transparent film can be used, at least a newspaper).

In the absence of special mini-greenhouses for seedlings, plastic containers with a transparent lid will be a good option for containers. The coated seeds, coated with nutrients and a growth stimulator, are laid out on the ground individually.

Alternatively, you can plant seeds in peat tablets, pre-placing them in a container with a lid. Condensate appearing on the lid, glass or film must be wiped in a timely manner. All this can be seen in the photo for planting and caring for petunia.

About a week later, a maximum of two, the first shoots appear, tiny and very fragile, so they need to pay special attention and follow some rules in order to properly care for the ascents:

    • Twice a day, the container should be turned with different sides to the light,
    • spraying should be carried out only with a sprayer, make sure that the soil is moist, but without moisture stagnation,
    • daily conduct airing 5-6 minutes, lifting the glass or film, and when the first leaf appears on the shoots, you can remove the shelter from them,
    • when the second true leaf appears, the sprout dives into a separate container (cups, containers, jars).

Plants are planted in a permanent place in the open air since May, after the onset of a stable positive temperature (exact dates depend on the region).

If the sprouts become cramped in the container, and the landing date has not yet arrived, they carry out a second dive into a larger container.

They bloom at 70-80 days after the emergence of shoots, so usually a bush with buds or flowers is usually planted in a permanent place.

To avoid the difficulties of adapting to the street cold snaps, young flowers gradually harden. The shoots are waited at a temperature of up to +25 ° C, the appeared sprouts feel good at a temperature of +20 ° C, and after picking, the temperature should be reduced to + 16 + 18 ° C.

Planting and care for petunia flowers at home

It is not necessary to have a garden or a flower bed to grow a beautiful petunia. A flowering plant grows beautifully in flowerpots, and the most advantageous looks in hanging pots on the balcony or on the window. The limited amount of packaging leads to the fact that caring for a petunia in pots requires more attention of the grower than when grown in open ground.

Transplanted seedlings in pots or containers for maintenance outside the window or on open balconies after mid-May, when there are no night frost.

If the balcony is closed at night or it can be closed in case of a cold snap, then the seedlings are planted in permanent pots at the end of April. Planting density for plants in a limited container - 70 bushes per 1 m2.

The most suitable varieties of petunia for cultivation in the form of hanging - ampelous, that is creeping, growing in length.

From the temporary container, the seedlings are transplanted in the evening or overcast weather into the already wet ground, they are watered, the surface is mulched with peat. Mulch does not evaporate moisture and protects the soil from frost.

The composition of loose and moisture-rich soil should include: humus, sand, sod or leaf soil, peat. To alleviate the earth, perlite and hydrogel are added to it, and lime is used to reduce acidity. Before filling the pots with primer, a drainage layer of 5 cm is laid on the bottom: expanded clay, gravel, etc.

To grow a good petunia in pots, it is important to observe the correct mode of watering. Plants in hanging pots require frequent watering at the root, especially on hot dry days — up to three times a day.

During heavy and prolonged rains, containers with flowers should be brought under the shed or on the balcony, as water harms delicate petals.

Shelter may be required in strong winds, so it is better to immediately place the pots and hanging vases in places protected from the wind.

Tip: water the petunia should be in the evenings or in cloudy weather, so that the sun could not burn the wet flower petals or leaves.

For better flowering, plants should be fed 1 time in 10-14 days with organic or complex fertilizers with a high content of potassium, and at slower growth and development - with stimulating solutions (Zircon or Appin). For maintenance of decorativeness in a timely manner wilted flowers are removed.

Growing petunia in the open field

Long and lush flowering and brightness of colors contribute to the fact that petunias are often planted on flowerbeds, alpine slides, front gardens, decorate borders with them, while combining them with other colors. Planting and care in the open field is somewhat different from the content of flowers at home.

Seedlings are planted in a permanent place in the second half of May, when the cold snap is not expected. The distance between large-flowered bushes is maintained at 20–30 cm, between small-flowered 15–25 cm, depending on the variety (see recommendations on packages with seeds).

Thickening planting can not be, because it can lead to diseases of individual bushes and even the death of the entire flower bed. A place for planting should be sunny and open, the ground - sandy or loamy, you can add perlite, humus, peat to it.

Before planting plants outside, it is advisable to pre-harden them, taking them out for a few hours in a cool room or outside.

Land in a flower bed should always be moist and loose, weeded and fertilized. For irrigation use separated water. Watering is carried out as the land dries, and at the root, so as not to injure the delicate flower petals. Fading flowers are removed to maintain an attractive appearance.

At different stages of development, the plant needs fertilizers:

    • when planting seeds in soil or water for irrigation, growth promoters are added (Zircon, Appin),
    • at emergence and after picking, irrigation is carried out with fertilizers containing phosphorus (P) for the development of the root system and nitrogen (N) for the growth of green mass (Criston is white, Agricola for ornamental leaf plants),
    • For a set of buds and good flowering, fertilizers are needed that contain potassium (K), which is responsible for flowering, and phosphorus (P) (Crystal red, Kemira Lux, Agricola for flowering plants, Aquarin flower).

Garden shops sell liquid and dry fertilizers of various brands. The most important thing to pay attention to when buying is the ratio of N, P, and K. Dry fertilizers in the form of powder or granules are dissolved in water before use.

Some gardeners before planting make long-lasting fertilizers in the soil, dissolving gradually (superphosphate, nitroammofoska).

But with such fertilizers it is difficult to determine which nutrients the plants lack in a specific period of development.

The regularity of nutrient irrigation depends on the specific fertilizer and the recommendations specified by the manufacturer on the product packaging. Usually it is 1 time in 1-2 weeks.

If desired, more frequent feeding, you need to proportionally reduce the dose applied each time.

Top dressing can be carried out both under the root and “on the leaf”, and the concentration of the fertilizer solution for foliar spraying should be weaker than for irrigation “under the root”.
