Helihrizum - growing from seed when planted

Australia is the birthplace of 22 botanical species used in floriculture. Among them is the dried flower Helichrizum (immortelle), which is known even to beginners. Florists call him an immortal, which in French means "immortal."

Botanical description

Helichrisum belongs to the Compositae or Aster family (Asteraceae). All plants of this group of inflorescences are baskets. The botanical reference book is covered with the name Cimmin.

Solariums bloom continuously - from mid-summer to frost. At the end of the season, seeds form in the baskets. The fruit is a small achene, supplied with a tuft like that of a dandelion and able to fly under the action of the wind. The gram contains 1500 pieces. Germination lasts no more than 3 years.

Among immortelles there are species with different lifespans. Perennial in our climate are grown as annuals.

The most popular type of tsmina is large or bract. It is a perennial, but gardeners grow it as a letnik. The plant can be dug out in the fall with a lump of earth, transplanted into a pot and stored in the room. In the spring, the overgrown bush is divided and planted again in a flower bed.

Chmin structure:

  • leaves are arranged alternately, sometimes oppositely, edges without cuts,
  • baskets with one or two rows of stipules,
  • extreme pistillate flowers, central staminate,
  • inflorescences grow on the tops of the shoots, one by one or several,
  • rhizome horizontally extends near the soil surface.

The main feature of helihrizum - dry, brightly colored, arranged in several rows wrapping leaves on the inflorescence. After flowering, they can arch out or remain in the closed state.

Medical properties of immortelle and application in traditional medicine

One type of helihrizum Italicum - Angustifolia Tall Curry (Tall Curry angustifolia) - Italian immortelle has a strong spicy smell, which is why it is called a curry plant. Oil obtained from its colors by steam distillation is used for medical purposes. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and astringent effects, soothes itching, promotes healing of cracks and burns. It is added to perfume compositions to impart a spicy flavor. Dried leaves of this species are used as a spice.

Although Italicum is called a curry plant, it has nothing to do with real curry and is not added to Indian dishes. Its resinous, bitter aroma resembles rather a wormwood. In the Mediterranean (in the homeland of the species), young leaves and shoots of Italicum are stewed together with vegetables, meat or fish.

Cmin sandy has medicinal properties. It is harvested at the beginning of flowering, when the side baskets have not yet dissolved. Raw materials are dried at a temperature of 40 degrees.

In folk medicine, the plant is used in the treatment of diseases of the liver, pancreas, intestines and other organs of the digestive tract. It is impossible to use preparations of miners to people with bile stasis in the liver The plant is able to increase pressure, so hypertensive patients can not be treated for more than 3 months in a row.

Varieties and types

In the wild, there are about 500 species of immortelles, no more than 30 plants have been introduced into the culture. Tsminy are suitable for garden decoration. They are planted in flowerbeds, in rock gardens and rockeries.

Breeders pay most attention to helihrizum bract (Helichrysum bracteatum f. Monstrosum).

Several of his garden forms and varieties with baskets of various colors were derived:

  • white,
  • pinkish
  • orange,
  • all shades of yellow and red.

Petals single row or multi row. In the latter case, the inflorescence looks like terry.

Basket diameter is 4-5 cm. Tetraploid varieties with larger baskets (up to 7 cm) are obtained.

Most varieties have long stems and many branches. Plant height reaches 0.8 m. There are cultivars of dwarf size. So, at the garden Bikini group the height of the bush is only 25 cm.

Helihrizum pritsvetnikovy, popular varieties:

Helichrysum angustifolium or Cmin narrow-leaved is very different from the rest of the immortelles. It is planted not for cutting flowers, but for the sake of openwork grayish greens.

Helichrisum is petiolate or licorice from South Africa. Height is 150 cm, diameter of a bush is up to 150 cm. It is an evergreen plant weaving on the ground with fluffy greyish leaves and small white flowers. Foliage smells of licorice.

On the Alpine hills grow stunted rymin blossoms:

  • subulate (Subulifolium) - height up to 40 cm with bright yellow inflorescences with a diameter of 2 cm,
  • helmet-shaped (Casssianum) - height up to 40 cm, inflorescence width 1 cm, baskets are collected in scutes with a diameter of up to 7 cm, pink bracts,
  • Milford (Milfordiae) is an evergreen perennial creeping plant for an alpine garden up to 10 cm high and 50 cm wide with chamomile-like white flowers, decorated with a yellow center.

Cmin Milford's flowers bloom from May to July. In the southern climate can winter, if covered with glass. Over the years, plants form a low, dense rug, repeating the outlines of relief and stones, giving a multitude of flowers.

Low-growing species look great in low bouquets and rocky gardens. Their full-blown baskets do not lose brightness for several weeks.

Not all immortelles are from Australia. In our country also grows several species.

Sandy (Arenarium) - a representative of the flora of the European part of Russia, the Caucasus and Siberia. This is a perennial plant with very small, yellow or orange flowers of the correct form. The inflorescences are large and thick. It blooms from mid-summer to frost, without requiring any care. Height of shoots is 10-50 cm.

Tianshansky (Thianshanicum) - beautifully winters in central Russia without any shelters. In June-July it becomes covered with yellow inflorescences. The plants look like cmin sandy, but the leaves are more gray.

Any immortelles can be used in winter bouquets. The flowers are cut off in the un-dispersed state and hung down with their heads under a canopy.

Drying in silica gel allows you to handle flowers with large heads. Gel-dried gels withstand moist air, and are therefore suitable for decorating bathrooms.

After drying in the gel, helihrizums are placed on the wire, bending its upper edge with a hook. This frame supports heavy flower head in an upright position.

Planting and care for helihrizum in open ground

Immortelle diluted with seeds, which can be purchased at the store or collect yourself. Growing a helihrizum from seeds allows breeding the most capricious species at home.

In order for plants to enjoy blooming longer, they are sown early. In room conditions, seedlings can be kept for about 30 days without the risk of dying from a black leg and a lack of lighting.

Sowing is carried out in late March or early April in a warmed greenhouse, covered with glass. Seeds germinate at a temperature of 15-17 degrees. Stalk loops will appear in one or two weeks. Seedlings, with the appearance of this leaf, are seated in separate pots or thinned directly in the greenhouse.

When frosts are no longer threatened (usually at the end of May), you can plant helihrizum seedlings on a flower bed, leaving intervals of 25-30 cm. In regions with a long summer, seeds are sown immediately to a permanent place, and then thinned seedlings. For sowing choose well-lit areas with loose, nutritious soil moderate moisture capacity.

Seeds are small, it is better to sow them shallowly. So that all seeds are at the same depth, they are laid out on a slightly compacted soil, sprinkled with water from a spray bottle, making sure that the substrate is wetted by 1-2 cm, and covered with an agrovermiculite.

There is an interesting way of sowing seeds in the "snail":

  1. Make up a mixture of humus, sand and earth 1: 1: 2, the earth must be fertile.
  2. The substrate is sprinkled with a layer of 2 cm onto a polyethylene tape with a width of 15 cm of arbitrary length and rolled into a roll. The result is a "snail" in which the layers of soil are arranged spirally.
  3. Seeds are laid out on the surface and buried with a finger, sprinkled on top with water from a spray bottle.

Good seedlings have branched roots, covering a lump of land the size of a hen's egg, and two pairs of true leaves. The height of the above-ground part is not less than 5 cm.

It is convenient to grow seedlings on a windowsill in 2x2 cm cassettes. Such plants are easy to replant. They are taken from a box with intact roots, so they take root instantly.

Cassette plants are not placed in the holes, and in the grooves made pegs. The roots, along with a lump of earth, are simply inserted into the hole, sprinkled with earth a little and watered. Under each seedling should get at least a glass of moisture.

The care is normal, consists of watering, fertilizing and weeding. Plants can not feed, if they were originally planted in a little soil fertilized with humus. When planting seedlings, it is enough to add a tablespoon of organic matter to each well and mix with the ground.

Cmin easily withstands the hottest summer with a lack of watering. The short but powerful root system well fastens the plant in the soil, making it windproof.

Seeds ripen in early September. They can be safely collected for planting. From one bush a good handful of seeds is obtained.

Diseases and pests

The plant is rarely sick. But insects do not bypass it. On the bushes settle caterpillars and aphids.

Inseminated plants are treated with insecticides:

White rust can appear on a plant in damp years and completely destroy the plantings. They fight with fungus on helihrizum as it does on chrysanthemum, spraying with the drug Scor (5 ml per bucket of water). Especially carefully you need to handle the underside of the leaves. Outbreaks of the disease are facilitated by thickening of the landings and rainy summer.

Signs of white rust:

  • small pale yellow spots appear on the leaves, covering the upper and lower sides,
  • over time, the marks grow and turn yellow, the center turns brown,
  • on the underside of the plate, a bulge develops in place of the spot, which eventually becomes white and convex,
  • affected leaves die off, the plant has a burnt appearance,
  • at the beginning of the disease, the plates are twisted downwards, which affects the appearance of the whole bush.

Spores of the fungus remain on plant debris and in the soil, so the helihrisum is better planted annually to a new location.

Flower description

The genus of helihrizum is very diverse and includes annual and perennial herbaceous creeping or erect plants, semi-shrubs and shrubs.

The root system in plants is branched, fibrous, not very pronounced.
Stems ribbed, erect or creeping, spreading. Their height ranges from 8 to 120 centimeters. The stem and leaves are covered with a white edge.
The arrangement of the leaves alternately. Their form is lanceolate, narrow, 3-7 centimeters long. Color depending on the type of dark green, yellow or bluish.

Inflorescences in the form of baskets or broom-pots with dry petals, reaching a diameter of 7 centimeters. Their color is various, it can be white, pink, crimson, all shades of red and yellow, except blue. After flowering in place of the bud, a seed-seed is formed with a tuft.

The plant is tall, reaching 1 meter. The inflorescences are painted in shades of salmon, salmon-red and salmon-pink flowers.

A bush in height of 105 centimeters. Blossoming lasts from the 20th of June to the beginning of September. Inflorescence in diameter b centimeters. Scales wrappers golden yellow, filmy.

Bush height 35-45 centimeters. Terry inflorescences. The diameter is 3 centimeters. The color of flowers varied, pastel colors.

When to plant

Seeds, mostly tall varieties for seedlings, are sown in March.
Sowing seeds in open ground is carried out in April. Most often in the open field grown stunted varieties.

Cuttings of flowers are planted in August - September or in the spring, after wintering indoors.
Divided bushes are seated in the spring.

Annual varieties propagate by seed, and perennial most often by dividing the bush and grafting.

In order to independently collect the seeds of the helihrizum, the inflorescences remain on the stems until full maturity (about a crescent after withering). Then you can collect the seeds. They are stored in a tissue (paper) bag or glass container in a dry, cool place for 2 years.

Growing from seed

High varieties are more often grown by seedlings, and low varieties are planted directly in open ground.

Reproduction by rassadnym way allows to accelerate flowering of plants.
For sowing seeds, a sand and peat mixture is taken. It is placed in a container or box with drainage holes. Before planting, the soil mixture is watered with a hot solution of potassium pemarganate. After draining excess water, the seeds are buried 0.5-1 centimeter into the ground, irrigated from a spray bottle and covered with film or glass.

The first shoots germinate in 9-12 days. After that, you can begin to harden the plants. Glass (film) must be removed every day, increasing the ventilation time from 1 hour to a whole day. Strengthened sprouts for 14-16 days spikes in separate pots. In May, the strengthened plants are transplanted into the open ground.

When sowing seeds in open ground, wells are prepared in advance at a distance of 10 centimeters from each other. 3-4 seeds are placed in each well. Crops are covered with a film. Shelter is removed when the air temperature warms up to +15 degrees. After germination of all seeds, weak sprouts are removed.

Perennial species breed by cuttings and dividing the bush. Cuttings are made in July - August. To do this, cut the apical shoots with a length of 15 centimeters.

For quick rooting, the cuttings are placed in Kornevin's solution. Then they land under the film in a mixture of earth, sand and peat in a ratio of 1: 2: 1. After fresh leaves appear on them, they can be transplanted to a permanent place of growth.

Dividing bush

The division of the bush is carried out in the spring. For breeding helihrizum selected adult, strong plants. The roots are cut with a sharp knife. The cut is processed with crushed activated carbon. Divided bushes are planted in the prepared pits at a permanent place of growth and watered with warm water.

Planting and maintenance in the open field

Land for planting flowers should be well lit. Stony and sandy soils are best for plants.

Flowers are planted in May at a distance of 16-20 centimeters from each other. Fertilizers are applied to the soil for planting. Each fossa is loosened. A drainage layer of small pebbles, coarse sand or expanded clay is poured on the bottom (it protects the roots from soaking in winter). Растения пересаживаются вместе с земляным комом.

Уход за цветами не сложный, но требует некоторых тонкостей.

In tall varieties, the central shoot is pinned above the 6 leaf. This allows you to increase the number of buds and helps to strengthen the plant.

For abundant flowering helihrizum need to fertilize the land with a special fertilizer for flowers or compost, infusion of mullein.

The first feeding is carried out during planting, then it is repeated twice a month.

Watering should be moderate. In hot weather, the amount of watering increases.

Helihrizum in landscape design

In landscape design most often used helihrizum Pritsvetnikovy. It is combined with cereals and other dried flowers, as well as with antirrinum, orebeckia.

Helimerisums ampelous are suitable for planting in hanging pots and tubs.

Compact varieties are used for flower beds, borders, rabatok, rock gardens, rakarii. They land between rubble and stones. They are combined with breech, undersized iberis, lobelia, groundcover, shave, and stonecrop.

In one flowerbed, flowers are combined with lavender, thyme, hopper-like hunters, rosemary, pharmaceutical chamomile, sage.

Cut inflorescences at the beginning of flowering. Dried flowers in a dark, ventilated, dry room. Before drying for 12 hours, the inflorescences are fumigated with sulfur. After that, they fade a little, but after drying they acquire the original color and become bright. The collected bouquets of 12-15 pieces are hung inflorescences down. Dried flowers are used for bouquets, panels.

Helichrisum due to the variety of species is able to decorate a flower beds, tubs, hanging pots and baskets. This beautiful plant looks great, both in flowerbeds and in vases in the form of fresh and dry bouquets.

Having provided the plants with the necessary care, they delight in their flowering before the first autumn colds.

What is helihrizum

After the immortelle hit the European continent, gardeners immediately fell in love with it, because the plant has the following characteristics:

  • There are one-year and perennial, erect and creeping,
  • Stem with a ribbed surface height from 30 to 120 cm,
  • Whole narrow leaves of a dark green shade, fleecy on both sides, grow from 3 to 7 cm,
  • Branching the top of the plant,
  • Inflorescences, the size can reach up to 7 cm in diameter in the form of a panicle or shield, a bit like chamomile,
  • Flowering lasts an average of 3 months, from June to August, and may last until October,
  • Around inflorescences dry curving petals,
  • Varied color.

After flowering is completed, the fruits are formed as seeds. Their size is about 1.5 mm.

Cmin often grown for floristics. Of them make up winter bouquets, make dried flowers, used in flower arrangements. Fresh flowers will look good on flowerbeds, alpine and rocky hills, mixborders. A beautiful combination will be next to rosemary, thyme, chamomile, sage or lavender.

Helichrizum is often used for medicinal purposes. Immortelle flowers are part of several drugs. Widely used in traditional medicine recipes. The main therapeutic properties of the plant is considered choleretic effect. In addition to it, it has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. Essential oils from helihrizum apply perfumers to create fragrances.

Direct seeding

In preliminary preparation for sowing is not necessary. Only groundcover varieties are suitable for this method, as they are the most resistant to cold and temperature extremes. Sow them in the first decade of May. After the sprouts get stronger, it is worth thinning out, leaving a distance between them of more than 15 cm.

In such conditions, flowers will begin to bloom in late July - early August. If there are frosts, then the plant should be covered with a film or other covering material.

Seedling method

By the end of March and the beginning of April, seeds for seedlings should be sown. To do this, prepare a light ground. For this, a ready-made substrate from the store will be suitable or prepare it yourself by mixing:

You need to plant the seeds at a distance of 4 cm, and after planting, sprinkle the soil with water from a spray bottle. Then the container with the planted seeds must be covered with a film or glass, put into a room with a temperature not lower than 25 o C. The sprouts will sprout after about 10 days, but you should not forget to air and water them. Drying the soil can not be allowed.

After 2 weeks, the sprouts should already get stronger, and they can be seated in separate containers. At this time, the root system and the plant itself are already quite strong and will quickly adapt to new conditions. The main thing - do not forget to water in time. This seedling can be placed in the greenhouse before the time of landing in the ground.

Landing will depend on the region and weather conditions. This is usually no earlier than mid-May. In the southern regions of the country it may be earlier. It is important that there is no frost. When planting, the distance between the bushes is about 25 cm. Florists recommend adding a little peat to the planting holes.

If you choose this method of reproduction and planting immortelle, then it will begin to bloom in July.

Division and grafting

Perennial varieties of helihrizum multiply differently. It is necessary to divide the bush or cutting it.

  • The division process should be carried out in the spring. To do this, the bush should be dug and divided with a sharp knife into parts depending on the size. The root, in the place where the cut was, is processed with charcoal. This will allow to dry the root and prevent rotting and disease. After planting, split shrubs require daily watering and loosening until fully adapted to the soil.
  • Cutting should be carried out in the second half of summer. Cuttings about 10 cm long are cut from the bush. They should be placed in a prepared mixture of soil, sand and peat and watered regularly. After the plant has taken root, it can be transplanted in open ground or in a pot.

Care rules

The immortelle is an unpretentious plant. It does not require special rules of care, although if you pay more attention to it, then its appearance will be more beautiful and brighter.

Water the helihrizum should be in moderation. On hot days, watering is best done more often, but with a small amount of water. Too much water can damage the plant.

For fertilizing immortelle, you can use organic or mineral fertilizers.

Dry twigs and flowering flowers need to be cut in a timely manner. Also, the plant does not interfere with periodic loosening and weeding.

Solar caps - a good option for garden beds. It is a bright, beautiful and at the same time unpretentious plant. Having landed it in your garden, you can admire its flowering for almost the entire season, and then decorate your house with a beautiful composition of dried flowers.

Varieties and varieties

Of the 30 types of helihrizum that are cultivated, the following are the most popular:

  1. Helichrizum bract. This is a plant with a straight stem, about 80 cm tall and narrow leaves. It blooms with small flowers, tubular and reed, which are combined in a head covered with multi-row scales. It is characterized by a long flowering - from July to the first frost. Color depending on the variety of different. The most interesting are the varieties "Feuerball" (with red-brown flowers), "Violet" (dark red with a purple hue), "White" (white), "Yellow" (yellow) and others.
  2. Helihrizum coral. Groundcover variety with stems up to 25 cm. The leaves and flowers are very small. It blooms yellow. It can withstand low temperatures.
  3. Helihrizum is margaritkovidny. Ground-cover plant growing to 8 cm, with small leaves and white inflorescences, very similar to chamomile.
  4. Helichrizum albicans. Tall variety with stems up to 1.5 m in length. The leaves are large - up to 10 cm in length and up to 9 cm in width. The inflorescences are yellow in the center, surrounded by white or yellow bracts.
  5. Helichrizum Italian. It has medium sized stems - up to 60 cm in height. Its leaves have a strong odor, vaguely reminiscent of curry seasoning. It blooms yellow. This variety is used in medicine, perfumery and even cooking.
  6. Helichrizum Arenarium, or immortelle sandy. Plant with a simple and straight stem 30-40 cm tall. The leaves are small, about 2-6 cm. Blooms buds in the form of spherical baskets with a diameter of 4-6 mm. Each inflorescence consists of 10-30 tubular yellow or orange flowers. Used for decorative purposes, in medicine and as an insecticide.
  7. Helihrizum mifovidovy. Beautiful undersized plant, forming a solid carpet. The flowers consist of tongue petals, pink on the outside and white on the inside. It is characterized by long flowering - from late spring to mid-autumn.

Place and light

The immortelle is light-requiring. The area where he will comfortably grow should be well open to the sun's rays. However, it is not scary if a light shadow falls on it. Drought flower is not terrible.

Growing soil

The immortelle prefers fertile and light soil. Although it can grow in poorer soil, but not heavy clay. Optimal soils: black soil, loam, sandy loam. The main condition is the presence of good drainage, since the plant does not tolerate stagnant moisture. The soil should be neutral in acidity.

Care for helihdrum

Care for immortelle is minimal. You can even do without it. However, it goes without saying that if you follow the plant, it will look better and blossom more abundantly and brighter.

Watering for immortelle recommended medium - the abundance of moisture, he does not accept. In hot weather, it is advisable to do this more often - it is better daily in small portions.

During the growing season, the plant will need to be fertilized once every two weeks. For feeding you can use any complex mineral or organic fertilizers. If possible, you can feed with water extract mullein.

Tall varieties will need to pinch. The procedure is carried out on the central shoot over its fifth or sixth leaf. Ground cover species do not need pinching.

An important condition for the care of helihrizum is timely cutting of faded blossoms and dry stems. Periodic weeding and loosening of the soil are also desirable.

Greater care will require perennials. In addition to all the above procedures, they will also need a shelter for the winter (sawdust, lapnik, peat, dry foliage), since they are generally less cold-resistant than annuals. Usually they are dug up before winter, transplanted into pots and put into a room. Spring return to its original place. They need to water and feed more often. But they do not require pinching.

Other breeding methods

Perennial crops are propagated by vegetative means - dividing the bush and grafting. The division produced in the spring. Shrub should be dug and divided into parts with a sharp knife. The place where the knife remains is to be treated with charcoal, which will dry it well and will not let rot and infection develop. Directly after the separation, the bushes are planted in a permanent place. They are watered and loosened daily before they adapt well to the soil.

Cutting is also suitable for shrub forms. The procedure is carried out in summer (end of July - beginning of August). Carefully cut cuttings of 10 cm in length are planted in a previously prepared substrate of two parts of sand, one part of the ground and one part of peat. Landings require regular watering. After the appearance of the roots of young plants are transplanted in pots or in open ground.

Solar caps are beautiful and unpretentious plants that can decorate any flower bed, garden, summer cottage. Low-growing varieties also do an excellent job with the task of hiding the errors of the relief. Having planted such plants, you can always admire their long flowering, and after it is over, place a beautiful bouquet of dried flowers in the house and continue to enjoy the riot of colors in the winter.

Immortelle - the wealth of varieties and species

Family Astrovye (Asteraceae) includes lovely flowers. One of its representatives is Cmin. Otherwise, this plant is called helixhrizum or immortelle.

On the African continent and in Australia grow natural species of helihrizum, which has more than 500 species. The genus is represented by annual and perennial plants that are grown in culture as letniki.

Culture grows well and develops in conditions of extreme heat and lack of moisture. Rhizome, short and strong, firmly holding a strongly branched straight stalk.

Elongated lanceolate leaves are very narrow, pubescent or with a silver coating, which helps in the heat to evaporate less moisture.

Even in the photo you can see that the petals of tsmina are very hard and caustic. Inflorescences can have bright colored petals that do not lose color for a long time. The flower looks very attractive in bouquets and compositions of dried flowers.

Florists grow about 30 species of helihrizum, which include annual and perennial varieties:

  • helihrizum pritsvetnikovy,
  • helihrizum coral,
  • helihrizum is margaritkovidny,
  • helihrizum Italian,
  • helihrizum stalked.

Unpretentious plant is able to put up with a lack of moisture and rare watering, so tsmin often planted on an alpine slide.

During flowering helihrizum baskets, painted in different bright colors, catch the eye. The photo shows that the petals of the baskets seem to be made of silk, despite the fact that the flower is classified as a dried flower. Cut helihrizum flowers do not lose their petal color and shape.

Modern varieties of helihrizum affect the variety of shapes and colors. Shear varieties have high, durable stems (up to 80 cm) and bright bracts. Flower forms are also distinguished by their diversity: there are helihrizuma similar to daisies and lotus, terry and anemone.

Planting and caring for immortelle

The right place, the least amount of care and success is guaranteed. The immortelle loves heat and the sun very much, these are habitual conditions for the plant.

The plant is not particularly demanding on soils, it can grow well on fertile soils with rare watering.

Tip! In the hottest summer months, it is necessary to provide the plant with regular watering, but it is worth remembering that the immortelle does not tolerate excesses: for it stagnant water at the roots is destructive.

One-year varieties of tsmina more unpretentious than the perennial. It takes several times over the summer to weed the beds and loosen the soil. Perennial varieties do not tolerate winter frost: you must carefully cover the bushes or keep the dug bushes in a warmer place.

Immortelle: reproduction by seeds or division of the bush

Annual varieties of immortelle propagated by seeds, which ripen in large numbers after flowering bushes. Seeds can be sown on seedlings in greenhouses. Planted in the ground grown young plants take root well and bloom before. Seedlings are planted with the onset of warm days when the threat of morning frost is over. Pits for planting are prepared in advance, filling them with fresh earth with the addition of peat and sand. Perennial varieties of tsmina propagated by dividing the bush.

Immortelle in combination with other plants in landscape design

The device beds of medicinal herbs can not be imagined without planting immortelle. These resistant plants bloom from May to September, have many bright attractive flowers. And most importantly - these flowers do not wither.

Cmin perfectly gets on with the chemist's camomile, sage, hunter, lavender, rosemary and thyme.

A special attraction of immortelle varieties are to create an alpine slide. For this purpose, using stunted, pillow-shaped varieties, creating clumps. The plant is in harmony with stunted obrieta, lobelia, iberis, rezuhoy, ground-cover stonecrop, escholtsii.

Helichrisum is successfully used for planting in mixed flower beds and rabatki. It is appropriate to position the landing of the solarium in the framing tracks. Hard flowers are not damaged by animals and perfectly endure the summer heat. On a green lawn the curtain from a helihrizum of various colors ideally looks.

Having bought once a seed package of several assorted immortelle varieties, I have been enjoying their flowering for several years. I like their simplicity, resistance to not very favorable conditions, like their hard flowers. I keep a bunch of immortelle in the kitchen (although this is not considered a very good omen), I update it every summer, although the flowers barely fade over the winter. I also provide flowers to my neighbor, who works in elementary school: she does crafts with these flowers with her children.
