What is unique about Lenkoran Acacia or Silk Albizia?

For several years I have been growing various ornamental trees and shrubs in my plot. The graceful Lenkoran acacia is one of my favorite trees. A beautiful representative of the tropics is also known as the silk tree or the silk albition.

It can be found in two forms: shrub and tree. If you, too, conquered her fragrant inflorescences, then I will be happy to share with you the experience of planting and caring for albition.

Planting and care for albition

The greatest height of the altitude pompadour, is another of its names, in the backyard area of about 15 meters. In nature, the representatives of this species can reach 20 meters. Silk albition is a thermophilic, drought-resistant plant.

Landing in open ground is carried out in early May, when the earth is already sufficiently heated by the sun's rays, at a distance of one and a half to two meters.

Growing from seed in room conditions

You can also grow seedlings. For this, it is necessary to plant the seeds of albition in the tank, to a depth of 4 mm. Seeds are required to stratify.

Since I do not like the hot method, I put my seeds in wet peat moss and put them in the fridge. One and a half months later they can be sown, the best time for planting seeds is February-March.

Necessary conditions for growing albitions:

  • large amount of diffused light
  • drained loamy soil
  • high air humidity
  • compliance with seasonal irrigation,
  • observance of temperature conditions.

With strict control of all the nuances of your plant will develop well.

Ground and lighting mode

In warm regions, the tree is most often grown in garden conditions. Garden acacias practically do not get sick, they are not disturbed by pests either. The main thing is that the plot is not in the shady side of the garden, and the rainwater does not stagnate. The soil is suitable loamy, fertile, with the addition of lime. For homemade albiti soil can be prepared by yourself.

To do this, take 3 parts of sod land, two parts of peat and one part of sand. Capacity for an acacia is necessary spacious and deep, with big drainage openings. For drainage fit small river stones.

Silk Albizia is very fond of light, so be sure to think of lighting so that the light day of your plant is at least 10-12 hours.

Albizia can tolerate direct sunlight, but its shadow will destroy. Therefore it will be better if you add natural diffused light with a fluorescent lamp.

The plant that lives in indoor conditions must be protected from direct sunlight. In the summer, it will feel great on the balcony. Watering during this period should be regular and abundant. In addition, be sure to spray the plant with a spray bottle, while pritenya it.

Temperature and feed

Remember that the albition is still a southern plant, therefore, the temperature of its habitat must be appropriate. For home plants, the optimum air temperature in the summer is + 19- + 25 degrees, and in winter the temperature should not fall below + 8-10 degrees.

For garden trees, the air temperature in summer is + 25- + 27 degrees, and in winter, not lower than +5 degrees. They can survive short frosts down to -10 degrees.

Feeding is carried out only from the second year after planting seedlings. It is best to buy ready-made complex fertilizers that are applied no more than once a month, during the growing season.

In winter, when the acacia enters a state of rest, we do not fertilize it.

Albizia is rarely affected by diseases and pests, but care errors can lead to the onset of a spider mite. You can get rid of it with the help of special tools. In rare cases, whiteflies that live in greenhouse conditions can attack. Then without insecticidal drug you can not do.

Reproduction of acacia silk

You can propagate the plant in different ways:

  1. seeds
  2. radical cuttings,
  3. cuttings.

Regarding the cultivation of seeds, I already wrote at the beginning of the article. As for cuttings, you can cut off young or lignified, as long as they are with the kidneys, this is done in May. For a good rooting process the cuttings with growth stimulants, it can be heteroauxin or root.

After that, lower into loose soil at a temperature of + 14-15 degrees. Full rooting will occur in 2.5-3 months.

Lifespan, growth and bloom

Lankaran acacia lives in natural conditions for 50-70 years. Indoor species live a little less, it all depends on the observance of all the rules of care and cultivation. Acacia grows quite quickly, starting from the second year of life. When landing in open ground, its height in 3-4 years will be about 5 meters.

Albitia blooms from July to August-September, dissolving delicate inflorescences with a delicate honey aroma. Color is from pale pink to crimson. Unfortunately, indoor species practically do not bloom.

Difficulties in growing Lankaran acacia

Watch the acacia, by its appearance, you can always understand exactly where you made a mistake:

  • Drying the soil will cause flower buds to drop.
  • A wetted or too dry substrate causes the leaf plate to wilt.
  • The lack of lighting causes a change in the color of the leaves, they fade.
  • Dry leaf tips indicate that the humidity in the room is too low.
  • When the plant freezes or drafts, dark spots appear on the leaves.

Compliance with all the rules of care will save your plant from many problems.

Places of growth

According to one of the versions, the birthplace of albition is Australia and tropical Africa. According to another, this plant was found for the first time in the Azerbaijani city of Lenkoran. This tree is very common in Argentina, Mexico, India, China and Madagascar. Often you can find Lenkoran acacia in the Crimea, the Caucasus, Moldova, the southern regions of Ukraine and in some European countries.

Care and landing for Lankaran Akatsia

Silk Acacia - a plant is very thermophilic and drought-resistant. Landing in open ground is carried out at the beginning of May, in warm, sun-warmed soil, at a distance of 1.5-2 m from each other.
You can use a seedling method of growing. For this, seeds are sown in small cups, to a depth of about 2-4 mm. When the seedlings grow well, they are planted in a permanent place. Seeds for seedlings can be planted in February and March.

Priming fertile, sandy, with a mixture of lime is suitable for acacia. For planting room ambition, you can make the soil yourself. This will require turfy ground, peat and sand. It all takes in the proportion of 3: 2: 1.

Light mode for silk acacia is very important. She loves light, can withstand direct sunlight and does not tolerate shading at all.

Thermal mode. When growing albitsi on the street, the air temperature in summer should be around + 25-27С, and in winter - not less than + 8С. In some cases, it can withstand short frosts, but not below –10С. For a room type, temperature indicators are different: in summer - + 20-25С, in winter - + 5-7С.

Top dressing can be done only in the second year after planting. For this well suited special complex fertilizers. Feeding is carried out no more than once a month, and only during the growth period (May-July). In winter, the plant is not fertilized.

Watering Acacia in the summer need infrequent, but abundant. In winter, the plant is watered very rarely and little. Water for irrigation should be clean, settled and not cold.

Air humidity for room albiti can be low or medium. It does not need spraying. When grown outdoors, spraying can sometimes be performed, but not often.

Bloom Albitsii is long and abundant, from the end of June to the end of September. Flowers are excellent honey plants. The leaves remain on the tree until winter.

Smell the flowering acacia is very strong and pleasant, with bright notes of violet and raspberry.

Pruning Albits spend in early spring, before flowering. Cut all the sick, old and dry branches. Remove excess thickening shoots. You can carry out this procedure after the end of flowering.

Reproduction of Lenkoran Acacia. Can be used for planting seeds, root shoots or cuttings.

Root shoots breed not all trees. When the roots protruding from the ground, they can be cut, rooted and landed separately.

Any type of acacia can be propagated by cuttings, both indoor and outdoor. The stalk can be taken young or already woody. It must be at least 2-3 buds. Can be planted without soaking. The soil should be fertile, but not heavy. After a few months, most shoots take root.

The easiest way to breed is seed. Before planting, the seeds can be wrapped in wet moss and put in a refrigerator for 1-2 months. Some growers prefer hot processing. To do this, the seeds for several hours poured very warm water and planted in the ground, without deepening. With this method of planting, during the first year, growth is very slow. No fertilizer is needed during this period. But regular watering is necessary.

Lifespan silk acacia is about 50-70 years old. Room species lives a little less, but with proper care can bloom for a long time.

Growth rate. Starting from the second year of life, the albition begins to grow very quickly. When planted in open ground, it can reach a height of 5 m in three years. It grows about 30 years, after which the aging period begins.

Diseases and pests

Garden acacia Lankaran is almost not affected by disease and does not suffer from the attack of pests. Acacia may be affected by spotting during hypothermia, and spider mite, in low humidity.

Pest control

You can notice the appearance of a tick by the presence of reddish spots on the underside of the leaves. Later, the leaves are covered with a dense sticky web.

To get rid of this pest, you must increase the humidity around the plant and wash the stems and leaves with warm soapy water. In case of severe damage, treatment with acaricides can help, but only if t is above + 18-20С.

Disease treatment

Leaf spot is a bacterial disease. To cope with it is easy. It is enough to cut off all the affected leaves and process the plant with a fungicide. You can also use copper sulphate or Bordeaux mixture. During this period, watering sharply reduced.

Caring for this unusual plant is quite simple. In the southern areas it can be planted in the garden. Lankaran acacia will decorate any part with its beautiful flowering and unique aroma. A room album perfectly complement the interior.

Next you will see a photo of Lenkoranka Acacia:

Latin name "Albizia" comes from the name of an Italian nobleman - Filippo del Albiztsi, brought the plant to Europe in the middle of the XVIII century. Title "Julibrissin" derived from the ancient Persian language, means "silk flower", where jul = "Flower", abrisham = "Silk".

Since the plant leaves the leaves at night, in Asia it is known under the standard name "sleeping tree».

In Europe, they learned an unusual tree thanks to the Italian Filippo del Albiztsi, who brought a bush from Constantinople. Silk Lenkoran acacia has spread widely in many regions:

  • East Asia - China, South Korea, Japan,
  • Front Asia - Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan,
  • countries of the Indian subcontinent.

Many consider the small town of Lenkoran to be the birthplace of albition in Azerbaijan. The hot climate, dried up deserts, wet soils, stony slopes - an unpretentious beauty takes root everywhere.

The main growth condition is a warm climate, the soil features are not so significant.

Thermophilic plant adorns the squares, parks, open spaces of streets. Lush crown decorate urban areas, cultivated in outdoor recreation areas. Entire lanes are created from Lankaran acacia in Crimea, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine.

Deciduous tree with flowering period from June to October. There are two main types of plants:

  1. Tree. In the open field, the albition grows with a mighty trunk up to 9–15 m high and an umbrella crown, which is 5–7 m wide. Development requires a large amount of space, so you will not find an acacia in greenhouses or closed patios.
  2. Bush. Smaller hybrid forms retain the decorative look of a natural counterpart. Grown indoors, home conditions.

Lankaran acacia produces allergenic pollen during the flowering period. This factor must be taken into account in room dilution.

The bizarre leaves of the tree consist of many shares, which gives the crown an openwork look. The upper part of the petals are dark green in color, the lower part is whitish. At night or intense heat, the leaves fold and wilt.

The flowering of Lenkoran acacia becomes a bright seasonal period from May to October. Fluffy panicles of delicate shades, from cream to lilac, cover the lush crowns of plants with thousands. For these wonderful flowers from silk threads, delicate fragrance, gardeners are so fond of albition. The fruits of the plant are bean pods filled with seeds of 7-9 pieces each.

The frost resistance of Lankaran acacia is low due to the superficial root system. Small frosts can destroy the landing. In warm climates, silk albition lives up to 100 years. Natural changes gradually reduce the life span, after 30 years there is an aging tree.

Silk acacia is a medicinal plant listed in reference books of pharmacists. The content of minerals, essential oils allows you to use a natural resource for the treatment of sciatica, varicose veins, inflammatory diseases. It is widely used in the field of cosmetology in the fight against fading of the skin.

Lankaran acacia is useful not only for people, but also for other plants. The soil on which the albition grows is saturated with nitrogen, which refines the soil.

External attractiveness, unpretentiousness and resilience of blooming albition open the hearts of gardeners and ordinary people who value silk alleys in urban buildings.

Brief Description of the Silk Tree

The tree that emerged from the subtropics of south-east Asia attracts the attention of gardeners to the exotic structure of flowers and non-standard flowering period. Abundant bloom lasts from July to August. Often, every flower lives a day or two. The inflorescence of the silk stock is a spherical tuft of thin stamens. Some species form clusters of inflorescences, collected in spikelets. From a distance, they resemble fluffy cylinders.

Experienced growers use this species for growing bonsai.
The subtropical plant reaches a height of one and a half meters in indoor conditions and up to ten meters in open ground. Twice feathery leaves grow to 20 centimeters in length. The branches form an umbrella-shaped crown, which is characteristic of the Australian and African flora. Flowering ends with the formation of beans with seeds.

A subtropical plant successfully grows in a warm climate close to a subtropical one: on the Crimean peninsula, in Moldova, in the south of Ukraine, in Georgia, etc.

Conditions agrotechnics albitsi at home

Agrotechnics subtropical guest is not particularly complex. Acacia tree or shrub gratefully take care in the first three years of cultivation. Mature plants are almost completely autonomous, not counting the indoor. It is important not to forget that the plant belongs to deciduous species with a pronounced period of rest.

The mode of illumination of the Lenkoran album

Silk acacia, though it migrated far beyond the natural range, still remains a big fan of sunlight. Regardless of the cultivation conditions, the plant should highlight the lighted place of the apartment or area. Young flowers should pritenyat from the scorching rays of the midday sun.

During the rest period, the silk acacia still needs good lighting.
Silk beauty positively perceives holidays in the open air, balcony or terrace. It is preferable to choose a place protected from the sun at noon and available for lighting at other times. Some species of albiti react to heat by twisting the leaves, which bloom again in the afternoon.

Optimum temperature and humidity

The silk tree belongs to the heat-loving cultures and perfectly tolerates 25-degree heat. In anticipation of rest, it is recommended to reduce the air temperature to eight to ten degrees Celsius. Albizia goes into hibernation after completion of leaf fall.
Subtropical acacia does not apply to frost-resistant crops. In the open ground it planted no earlier than three years of age.
Exotic tree does not impose special requirements on the humidity of the air and perfectly dispenses with spraying. Dry air does not affect the vegetative development of this plant.

Rules for watering and feeding albitsi

Exot perfectly responds to frequent and abundant watering. It is extremely important to use separated water for this. Too hard water of urban water supply is softened by boiling or freezing. Увлажнение субстрата проводят способом верхнего полива только после просыхания верхнего слоя почвы.
During the rest period, watering is reduced to a minimum.

Over-wetting of the substrate during the winter period can provoke root rot and subsequent death of the plant.
Albizia positively responds to the introduction of complex fertilizers for decorative and deciduous crops. Fertilizing make every month. The acacia grown in open ground is fed no more than once or twice a year. Mineral dressing combined with irrigation.

How to transplant the albition of Constantinople

Transplantation of deciduous plants is carried out before the start of sap flow and bud break. This is usually done in early March. Young specimens are transplanted annually. Starting from the age of three, transplants are performed every two to three years. Sometimes plant transplants are compensated by replacing topsoil. This trick is for adult acacias only.

Albizia belongs to the thriving crops and needs a spacious flowerpot.
Acacia requires a loose, well-ventilated substrate. From industrial mixtures suitable primer for decorative leafy crops. Experienced gardeners prefer to independently procure ingredients for soil mixture. Home soil is prepared by mixing calcined sand with turf ground, crushed peat in a ratio of 1: 3: 2.

A quality layer of drainage material should be placed on the bottom of the pot for good outflow of excess moisture.
Ways and rules of reproduction of an ornamental bush

There are two most common ways of breeding the Lenkoran albition:

  • seed germination,
  • overgrowing
  • rooting cuttings.

The first method is used in the presence of inoculum and does not represent any particular hassle. Productivity depends on the freshness of the seeds. Cutting is done when there are no acacia beans on hand.

Seed propagation is not very difficult and consists of the following:

  1. Seeds must be stratified within two days. Both hot and cold methods are used to accelerate the development of seedlings from seeds.
  2. Swollen seeds are shallowly buried in a wet peat substrate.
  3. The beds are covered with polyethylene to maintain high humidity.
  4. The first shoots appear two to three months after sowing.

The propagation of albition by radical growth is characterized by simplicity and high productivity. The only problem is that under room conditions, shoots appear extremely rarely. It is recommended to remove it so that the landing does not thicken. These sprouts are separated from the root system with a small part of the root and are planted in a separate pot. Saplings quickly take root in a new place.

It is extremely important to thoroughly disinfect the cut with a fungicide or activated carbon powder.
Reproduction of acacia of Constantinople by cuttings allows you to get a new instance in the absence of seed. Suitable sprigs are selected from waste after formative pruning or cut directly from the tree. It is recommended to select semi-woody one-two-year shoots.

The length of the cutting varies from 10-15 centimeters. Extra leaves are removed, leaving two or three. The remaining leaf plates are shortened to reduce moisture loss. The branches are planted in the substrate and clean in a cool place. Rooting cuttings lasts one to two months.
Experienced gardeners process cuttings of growths with growth stimulants to speed up the process of root germination.

Rooted cuttings are planted in separate pots in early autumn. Subsequent care is no different from the conventional for this culture.

The origin and types of albition

In 1749, Alberto Albiztsi brought an unknown plant with open leaves to Europe from Turkey. In scientific classification, the find remained under the name of its discoverer, thanks to the Florentine scientist and doctor A. Durazzini.

About 130 species of plants belong to the genus Albizia. All of them belong to the legume family. These are mainly trees and shrubs growing in the tropics and subtropics. Representatives of the genus have inflorescences in the shape of a ball, where each individual flower is supplied with long stamens. Only one species has gained wide popularity in the culture - Albizia julibrissin.

Specialists consider Azerbaijan to be the birthplace of Lankaran albition. If you literally translate the name from Farsi, you get a "silk flower". Such names also firmly entrenched: the silk bush or the silk acacia, the Crimean mimosa, the gul – abryshim (pink silk robe).

Other types of albumition:

  • bunch flower (short shrub up to 6 m),
  • white flowered (white stamens in inflorescences).

At home, grown acacia hybrids, adapted to the indoor content.

Area of distribution and morphology

In nature, Lankaran acacia (albition) is found in the countries of Front and East Asia, Southeast Asia, on the Indian Subcontinent, in China and Japan, and South Korea. As a decorative culture is popular in all Mediterranean countries of Europe, in southern Ukraine, in the Crimea, in the Caucasus. In Argentina, alleys and squares are planted out of albition.

Acacia - refers to deciduous species. Under natural conditions, it grows over 15 m tall. The crown is spreading, shaped like an umbrella. The leaves are pinnate, light green, up to 20 cm long. At night, the acacia turns the leaves, in the morning it opens again. In the same way reacts to too bright or direct sunshine.

Flowering begins in July and can take up to September. Acacia blooms pale pink inflorescences with a subtle indescribable aroma.

Attention! Acacia pollen is a strong allergen.

In the autumn there are fruits - long pods with seeds. Each pod usually contains 8–9 flat beans. After ripening, the beans spill onto the ground. Around the same time, the tree is preparing for wintering, dropping foliage. The root system of albition is highly developed, but is located shallowly. This feature affects the frost resistance of the crop; at temperatures below -15 ° C, the tree dies.

Lankaran acacia is known for its rapid growth. In natural conditions there are centenary specimens. At the age of 30 years, tree bark cracks, hollows appear. In young acacias, the trunk is smooth, the bark is of a uniform gray color.

Content at home

For a flowerpot with an acacia, they take away the brightest place. In this case, the scorching midday rays are absolutely contraindicated, burns will appear on the leaves.

In the summertime, the albition will feel good at temperatures of + 20 ... + 25 ° C. When the room content does not necessarily maintain a high level of humidity, the plant is not demanding to this.

Water regularly during the active growing season with warm settled water. Overflowing, like overdrying of soil, ruin the plant. For the full development of feeding complex mineral fertilizers.

In winter, the pot is placed in a cool (+ 8 ... + 10 ° C), but well-lit place. Watering is reduced, but not brought to a complete drought. Fertilizers in the dormant period are not required.

In the spring make the formation and pruning of the crown. Remove excess thickening branches, damaged or diseased. Young albumitions are transplanted annually in larger pots, more mature plants - once every 2-3 years. The soil is cooked loose, nutritious. Part of coarse river sand and peat (riding) is added to the mixture of sod and leafy land.

Council For large albitions, instead of traumatic root transplantation, a change of topsoil is possible.

In the home content should not be sudden changes in temperature, irrigation and lighting. Violation of the usual conditions will cause the death of a tropical plant.

Reproduction, difficulties in growing acacia

In nature, acacia produces multiple basal shoots. Cuttings cut, rooted in the soil at a temperature not higher than + 16 ° C. Usually the process takes no more than a month. Keep track of the condition of the soil, the earth should not dry out and overmoisten. As the cuttings fit and side shoots of an adult tree. Harvest them in early summer, rooted in the same way.

Quite easy to propagate acacia seeds. The material is pre-soaked in warm water for swelling, and then treated with a growth stimulator. Planted in cups with a nutrient mixture. Containers are placed in a greenhouse or covered with polyethylene.

In the southern regions of acacia often contain as a garden plant. In the garden, the culture is rarely sick and is not affected by pests. The condition of the room acacia is judged by the appearance of leaf plates. The lack of light will affect the color of the leaf, wilting is a sign not only of drying out, but also of the bay of the plant. Low temperatures cause dark spots on the acacia.

Of pests possible invasion of spider mites. They can be infected from other home flowers, the “visit” of an insect is often associated with dry air in the room.

Many Lenkoran acacia is associated with holidays and recreation in southern countries. For home content - this is a rather unusual and exotic culture.

Silk acacia - what is this tree

Lankaran acacia (Albizia julibrissin) is the most decorative species of the genus Albizia with delicate pink flowers, for which it is often called silk. Albitia can often be found growing in the open field in the south of our country - the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory and in the Crimea. Therefore, the name of the Crimean or southern Acacia entrenched in our language is not accidental. Depending on the growing conditions, it may take the form of a tree or shrub. Also, this albition can be grown in room conditions, with proper care.

His name is obliged to Florentine del Albiztsi, thanks to which the Europeans first learned about this plant. The second part of the name in translation from Farsi means “silk flower”. In addition, silk acacia has many unofficial names: Chinese Acacia, Turkish albition, Persian silk tree, albition, silk acacia and others. The birthplace of albition (from where it was born) is the Lenkoran area in the south-east of Azerbaijan.

Lankaran Albition is a deciduous tree, it can reach a height of 16 meters (on average, from 6 to 9). The crown of the plant is sprawling, formed in the form of a huge openwork umbrella. Silk acacia root system is well developed, but superficial. Because of this, the frost resistance of the silk tree is insignificant (it can withstand temperatures down to minus 15 ° C for a short time), this is enough to grow on our Black Sea coast, but not enough to grow in open ground, for example, in the Moscow region.

Lankaran Albizia - high deciduous tree

The leaves of the Lenkoran albition are unpaired, two-branched, dark green above and whitish on the wrong side. On the central petiole are located from 9 to 15 lobes, on which, in turn, there are about 30 pairs of sickle-shaped leaves. In the evening and in hot weather, the leaves of silk acacia fold along the central petiole and droop. Because of this, the Lenkoran albition is sometimes called the "sleeping tree."

Acacia flowers are yellowish, bisexual. The corolla is a funnel-shaped, yellow-green color, weakly pronounced. Long (about 3.5 cm), bright pink stamens protrude from the corolla. The corolla with stamens is located inside the bell-shaped calyx. Flowers of the Lenkoran Albizia are collected in fluffy spherical inflorescences. Flowering begins in July and continues until the end of August. This “silky acacia” blooms so impressively that it becomes a real event.

Formula of the Lenkoran albition flower:: ↑ Ч5Л1 + 2 + (2) T (9) + 1П1

The fruits of silk acacia are elongated, double-leaved beans, about 20 cm long. When mature, the pods are dry, yellow or brown in color. For the winter, Lankaran silk acacia sheds foliage and falls into a state of rest.

The tree grows very quickly and, under favorable conditions, can live for up to 100 years (on average, about 50). The plant is listed in the Red Book, as a species that is endangered.

Blooming Albizia Lankaran

In the nature of Russia, Lankaran silk acacia can only be found on the Black Sea coast. Especially famous are alleys from the Crimean albition, for which it is often called the southern or Crimean acacia.

Silk tree in landscape design

The Lankaran southern plant Albizia, winter hardiness is weak, therefore, when creating landscape compositions, this important factor must be taken into account.

Since the albition silk looks luxurious and a single tree, and next to other plants, it is successfully beaten by masters of landscape design. It fits perfectly both in the garden and in the city alley. Due to the fact that the leaves of Lankaran acacia let the sun's rays through, it is possible to plant light-loving plants under it. And in combination with a swing or a picnic table, a silk tree will fill the garden with romance, tenderness and comfort.

In the urban landscape, tunnel lanes look particularly advantageous. To this end, the acacia of Lankaran is planted on both sides of the path or walkway. The older the plants become, the more they spread their crowns above the path, forming a green tunnel.

Lankaran acacia planting and care

There are several ways to grow a silk albition at home:

  • from seeds,
  • grafting,
  • transplanting root shoots.

The cultivation of Lankaran albition from seeds is recommended to begin in the fall. It is believed that at this time of year its seeds have a higher percentage of germination. Seeds need stratification before planting. To do this, they are placed in warm water before swelling. After that, seed is planted in a substrate of a mixture of sand and peat. The first shoots appear a few months after planting. At this time it is necessary to maintain the temperature above 20 degrees and to prevent the soil from drying out. Albit Seeds

When reproducing acacia lenkoranskoy cuttings need to take half-lignified cuttings from the side shoots. The procedure for pruning cuttings is recommended in early summer. The length of the cutting can be 10-15 cm. Next, the cut shoots are planted in a sandy-peat substrate. Seedlings are recommended to be removed in a cool place and after rooting, they should be transplanted into separate containers.

Root shoots can be propagated if you plan to grow a plant in open ground. In this case, part of the root shoots of the parent tree is taken and transplanted to another location.

When growing albizia in open ground, one should remember that the plant is light-requiring and will not tolerate shading neighbors near itself. She also likes wet soils, but she is able to endure drought for some time. Very well tolerated sanitary pruning dead shoots.

Sprout from albition seed

Harsh winter conditions near Moscow southern beauty can not move. Frost below -18 ° C is already destructive for a silk tree, although isolated cases of plant acclimatization are known in central Russia and even in Siberia. A good option for open ground will be pruning of young shoots and wrapping basal necks. Even so, there is no 100% guarantee that the plant will survive. The ideal option is to cultivate the Lenkoran albumition in greenhouses or indoor conditions as an ornamental plant.

Fight against diseases and pests

Silk Lenkoran acacia has good immunity to various kinds of diseases and pests. In room and greenhouse conditions, it can occasionally be affected by spider mites and scutes. When grown in open ground, almost no ill (if not freezing).

When attacking shchitovki on the branches of albition, visible brown growths of insects appear. To remove them, in order not to harm the bark of the plant, is quite difficult. It is best to use a sponge or rag moistened with insecticide.

With the invasion of a spider mite, thin, barely noticeable cobwebs appear between the branches of the albition, and leaves are covered with white bloom. If you do not take any measures, the acacia leaves dry up, the plant begins to fall.

To get rid of this pest can not only insecticides, but also folk remedies. For example, use tobacco dust or spray a plant with infusions of garlic and onions.

Improper care can also cause silk tree disease:

  • With a lack of moisture at the tips of the leaves dark spots appear.
  • With excessive watering, the root system suffers.
  • When the earth coma dries out, it may not bloom.
  • Insufficient lighting leads to a change in the color of the foliage, it becomes dull and faded.
  • If the plant is in a draft, chlorous spots appear on the leaves.

How to grow bonsai from Lankaran acacia

Since the silk albition is not bad for forming pruning, you can try to grow it in the form of a miniature tree - bonsai.

Initially, it is necessary to determine the shape of the future tree. In nature, albitia often has a multi-stemmed form or powerful lateral branches on a short central trunk and an umbrella-shaped crown. But, due to the fact that the acacia gives a good new stem buds, you can choose any style of bonsai.

It is possible to grow the Lankaran bonsai albition by cuttings and seed methods. When growing should remember:

  • емкость для выращивания бонсай нужно брать керамическую, небольшую, с крупными дренажными отверстиями,
  • ни в коем случае нельзя допускать затенения нижних ветвей, иначе они погибнут,
  • корни и крону лучше всего обрезать после цветения,
  • периодически нужно выполнять корректирующую обрезку кроны,
  • wire winding, to give branches the form, to do no more than once every two years and no more than 4 months,
  • When winding with a wire, it should not be too tight, so the plant bark can be damaged,
  • since the leaves of acacia have a complex shape and give decorativeness, their artificial removal does not have any effect, therefore it does not apply,
  • bonsai needs to be replanted every two years.

The most acceptable height of a miniature silk tree is about one meter.

This is how you can turn a Persian silk tree into a work of art. This will give a southern flavor and will be a great addition to any interior.

Lankaran acacia - healing properties

Lankaran Albitia is a thermophilic honey tree or shrub (the form taken depends on the growing conditions), but unlike white acacia (Robinia), honey of albition has a slight distribution. The lists of pharmaceutical plants are not listed, but are often used as decoctions (teas) and tinctures in traditional medicine for increased irritability, insomnia, and arrhythmias, as well as for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and for inflammatory diseases of the skin.

Contraindications and warnings

Contraindications to the use of albition as an alternative medicine can be:

  • pregnancy,
  • kidney and liver failure
  • ischemic disease
  • stroke,

With caution - during lactation and for oral administration to children up to 12 years.
