How to plant carrots

Carrots are probably one of the most beloved and often grown root crops in the summer cottage. It is hard to imagine traditional home cooking without this colorful ingredient: many varieties of this garden crop can be kept fresh for a long time, representing an invaluable source of microelements and vitamins in the winter season. Is it easy to cultivate carrots on your plot? Cultivation and care in the open field for this vegetable crop have a number of features. Despite the seeming simplicity of this process, one should not forget that carrots are a rather capricious vegetable. Unsuitable conditions, untimely watering or top-dressing will lead to the fact that instead of a flat juicy carrot, at best, you get a harvest of forage vegetables. Therefore, it is so important not only to know how to plant carrots with seeds in open ground, but also how to ensure that the root crops are properly watered, cared for and protected from pests. When should you start sowing? What you need to know novice gardeners to grow a beautiful and tasty carrots? Planting and care in the open field, methods of seed preparation and simple proven methods of protection against the natural enemies of this root crop are collected in this article.

When is it better to start planting carrots?

The time when sowing carrots in open ground depends largely on the root variety. Conventionally, they are subdivided according to maturity. It:

  • early ripening or early varieties of carrots, in which the growing season begins 50-60 days after germination,
  • mid-season (from 90 to 110 days),
  • late (late ripening) - from 120 days,

Certain varieties are quite suitable for podzimnogo sowing under the film. These include, for example, the well-proven Moscow Winter, Amsterdam, Incomparable, very delicate carrots Children's Sweetness, hybrid Baby Baby F1, cold-resistant variety Paris Carolian and other early and mid-season varieties. The optimal time for the sub-winter planting of seeds can be determined independently. Summer residents, practicing this method of cultivation for more than one year, recommend waiting for the first small freezing of the soil, 3-5 cm deep. This will avoid untimely shoot. It is possible to begin to germinate overwintered carrots in the second half of April. To do this, a small greenhouse or just an arc covered with a film is installed above the bed, after which intensive watering is provided to the seeds.

Time for ordinary spring sowing, of course, should be determined taking into account the climatic features of a particular region. Particular attention should be paid to such characteristics as the ability for long-term storage. For juicy early ripe varieties, such as, for example, carrots "Tushon", "Lydia F1", "Minicore F1" and similar varieties, this quality is not important. For winter stocks of this vegetable, it is preferable to choose seeds of carrot varieties that preserve their properties for a long time: varieties of the variety “Nantes”, “Orange Muscat” and “Fairy” suitable for April planting, “Shantane” or any late varieties.

If you focus on the conditions of the middle band, then for the cultivation of the first crop rich in vitamins, early varieties of carrots are preferably sown no later than the end of April. That is, starting from about 20-25 numbers. Juicy, early ripening varieties are excellent for this: “Amsterdam”, “Orange Muscat”, very sweet carrots “Tushon”, “Favorite” and others.

For the harvest "in reserve" carrots should be planted no earlier than May, preferably in the middle of the month. It is recommended to choose varieties related to late or mid-ripening, but always with a long period of preservation of all the properties of the root. Excellent can "perelezhat winter", for example, mid-season carrots "Alenka", "Nantes", "Leander", "Grenada", "Vitamin". Virtually all later varieties are able, with proper storage, to lie through the entire winter season and remain tasty and healthy until next spring. Good characteristics deserve the popular varieties "Red Giant", "Queen of Autumn", "Mo", "Flaccus", "Incomparable", "Saint-Valery" and other late-ripening varieties. Particular attention should be paid to the variety "Perfection", which is highly immune to decay from moisture.

Stratification and germination

What tips experienced gardeners should use in order not to end up with a crooked and tasteless “fodder” carrot? Planting and care in the open field begins with the preparation of seeds of this root, long before entering the ground.

First of all, you should pay attention to when the seed was harvested. As a rule, gardeners use purchased seeds or rather fresh “homemade” seeds collected from last year’s crop for sowing. If purchased are used, then before planting carrots with seeds in open ground, you should pay attention to the expiration date affixed to the bag with seed: a guaranteed good result in the form of an excellent harvest can be obtained from seeds, which at the time of sowing are not more than 3– 4 years.

Further, a reasonable solution would be to conduct preliminary training to increase the germination of seed material. This procedure includes pre-germination and stratification, that is, the period of seed storage in special conditions. How is the carrot seed stratification done at home? The whole process of preparation and hardening will take at least 10 days.

The first thing you need to do is soak the carrot seeds for two hours. Water should be neutral at room temperature.

After soaking, the seed spreads evenly on a damp cloth. From above, the seeds are also covered with a moistened cloth.

They should be kept in the cloth until they swell. All this time the fabric needs to be moistened. Not allowing the seed to dry out, they need to be gently mixed from time to time.

As soon as the seeds begin to spit, they must be placed in the refrigerator. Hardening in such conditions is carried out for 10 days.

There is another, long-known method of pre-germination of seed. To do this, the seeds are simply poured into a bag of cotton fabric and “buried”, that is, they also dig into the ground for a shallow depth for about 10 days.

Where to plant carrots? Choose a suitable place on the site

To get a good harvest, it will be necessary to take a suitable place on the plot that meets all the necessary conditions for carrot beds

One of the main needs of this vegetable is a lot of sunlight. Carrots in the shade of poorly gaining height and does not have a good taste.

If winter sowing is supposed, then it is necessary to make a bed not only on the lighted, but also on the elevated plot of land. This will avoid further erosion of the seeds with melt water.

It is important what cultures grew on this place last year. Carrots cannot be grown for several years on the same bed - the soil is depleted, giving up microelements to the root crop, so the earth must be given a "rest" for at least one or two years. In addition, the natural enemies of this root can be transmitted, pests can remain in the ground from last season. For the same reason, do not plant carrots after parsley. Beans, cumin, dill, parsnip, and fennel are also considered bad "predecessors". Best of all carrots grow after cereals, solanaceous (tomatoes or potatoes), onions, cucumbers, cabbage, garlic.

How to prepare a soil for carrot beds?

Before planting carrots with seeds in open ground, the ground should be prepared.

The area set aside for spring sowing is best to start cooking in the fall. It will be necessary to dig deep and thoroughly, choosing roots and weed residues, to apply fertilizer. After such preparation in the spring, it will be necessary to simply loosen the area for carrots and begin planting.

The land should be fairly light, loose, it will allow the root to grow well, while maintaining a smooth shape. Dense soil is best mixed with sand, compost, well-rotten manure or peat.

Particular attention should be paid to the level of acidity of the soil. An excessively acid-rich soil adversely affects the taste of carrots. The optimum Ph level for growing this root is 6-7. To achieve the desired acidity can be done by adding to the ground known means: dolomite flour, wood ash or chalk.

Several convenient ways to sow small carrot seeds

The small size of carrot seed creates certain inconveniences when sowing: it is not easy to put light seeds into the groove evenly and not too often. Here are some proven convenient ways to sow small carrot seeds.

One of the quite popular ways, though requiring patient work, is to stick carrot seeds on toilet paper. Many summer residents prefer to spend several winter evenings, sticking seeds on a paste (it’s best to do it with a match or toothpick) and drying the resulting paper tapes, so that instead of tedious seeding, put “blanks” on toilet paper in the grooves and sprinkle with earth.

It is much faster and easier to stir the seeds with a small amount of sand before sowing. This seed spreads evenly into the groove and does not stick together.

Sow carrots can be in a paste of potato starch. To do this, the seeds are mixed with the chilled potato "kissel" and poured into the grooves through the kettle and sprinkled with earth.

Make pellets with seeds homemade way. Seed material in a special shell that does not need additional germination is surely every summer resident met in stores. You can make such a “blank” by yourself: cut paper napkins (toilet paper) into small squares, in each of which you place carrot seed with a drop of paste and a granule of suitable mineral fertilizer. After that, you need to roll the paper squares and dry. It is also possible to do such preparations in the winter and to store in the dry place prior to the beginning of the sowing period.

Fertilizers and feeding

It is necessary to introduce fertilizer into the soil before planting carrots with seeds in open ground. This can be done even during the autumn preparation of the site allotted for planting this root. Natural fertilizer is well suited for this purpose rotted cow manure per 0.5 bucket per 1 m² of land. It is important to remember that fresh manure cannot be used for fertilizing a carrot bed: it will excessively increase the acidity of the soil, which is why the roots will grow crooked.

For pre-feeding you can also use nitrogen fertilizers mixed with phosphates. For example, based on 1 m², you can make a mixture in the following dosage:

  • double superphosphate (granules) - 2 tablespoons,
  • dolomite flour - 2 tbsp,
  • wood ash - 2 tbsp,
  • potassium sulfate - 1 tbsp,
  • saltpeter (sodium) - 1 tbsp.

Periodic feeding of carrots can be carried out using a mixture of mineral additives in two stages.

Three weeks after the emergence of seedlings, a solution is applied to the soil between the rows at the rate of:

  • 1.5 Art. l double superphosphate
  • 1 tbsp. l of potassium sulfate,
  • 1 tsp urea,
  • 10 liters of water.

Half a month after the first feeding you need to make a solution at the rate of:

  • 1 tbsp. l azofoska,
  • 1 tbsp. l of potassium sulfate,
  • 10 liters of water.

Feeding can also be carried out with an organic mixture - a solution of chicken manure with water (1:10) with the addition of superphosphate. The resulting additive must be infused, and then diluted with water again 1:10. The resulting composition should also be made no more than two times.

Additionally, growing carrots can be fed with a solution of boric acid with water in the proportion of 1 tsp. on 10 l. Make this composition should be twice per season: in the first decade of July and the beginning of the ripening of root crops (the first of August).

Important! It is necessary to strictly observe the prescribed dosage, applying nitrogen-containing fertilizers. An excess of nitrogen in the cultivation of carrots not only leads to the hardening of root crops, but also contributes to an increase in the level of nitrates.

Watering rules

Carrots, like many root vegetables, can suffer from overdrying of the soil, and from an inadequate amount of water. Proper watering carrots is to respect the "golden mean".

Before planting, watering the bed with planted seeds should be often, but with a small amount of water.

Watering after emergence of shoots is required only once a week, not abundant: the ground should be soaked with water no more than 30 cm deep. Excessive amount of water is guaranteed to cause cracking of root crops, and if the beds are not shed deep enough, this will lead to the formation of many small shoots and give the harvest so-called hairy carrots.

The lack of moisture, the long absence of watering affect the taste of the crop: the carrot becomes very hard, loses sweetness.

With excessively hot summer weather, watering can be done a little more often, as the soil dries out, about 3 times a week.

When there is enough moisture, experienced gardeners recommend abandoning watering about 3-4 weeks before the start of the carrot harvest. This contributes to long-term storage of the root, and also improves the taste of ripe carrots.

Thinning, loosening, hilling

In order to gather flat and large carrots from the garden, cultivation and care in the open field must include the removal of weeds, hilling of root crops and timely thinning.

First of all, do not neglect the timely regular loosening of the carrot beds. Despite the fact that the soil was made as light as possible when preparing before sowing, after the first shoots the roots need to be provided with sufficient oxygen. It is necessary to loosen the damp earth, after watering or a rain, and it is extremely careful. In this period, tender, not strong “roots” of carrots are located near the surface, and inaccurate loosening can easily damage them.

With the same caution should be treated and thinning - an important "operation" that allows you to get a crop of large root vegetables. It should be carried out after the appearance of strong first "leaves" of carrot tops. It is important to remember that if improperly thinned, the remaining root crops can be injured, leading to undesirable processes and the harvest of “horned” carrots. Therefore, you need to carry out this procedure according to the following rules:

  • only thinned in well-wetted soil,
  • it is necessary to slowly remove the “extra” roots, pulling them upwards, swinging the spine out of the ground or sharply pulling them out,
  • It is better to thin out in two stages: for the first time, it is enough to leave a distance between root crops of about 3 cm, after 14-16 days the procedure should be repeated, leaving the largest carrot at a distance of about 4-5 cm from each other.

Spuding carrots, covering the root with earth, is necessary to avoid the formation of a green top. If this is not done, the substance “solanine” is formed in fruits with a “green stripe”, which, during winter storage, gives the carrot a bitter taste.

Pest Control: How to protect crops from insects and diseases?

One of the main natural enemies of this root is considered a carrot fly. There are several simple, including preventive, methods of dealing with this insect:

  • do not leave cartots and weeds removed to the top after thinning near the beds,
  • Mulch growing roots with clean straw or pour the bed surface with one of the natural products from carrot flies: tobacco dust or hot pepper,
  • It is recommended to put onions as a “neighbor” next to the carrot, the fly also does not tolerate its sharp smell.

Aphids plant on the leaves and aboveground parts of the plant, feeding on their juices. It is recommended to treat insecticides from the above-mentioned insects (Bitoxibacillin, Lepidocid), but not more than 2 times a month.

The wireworm, which is the larvae of the beetle bug, spoils the crop of root crops, gnawing at them the moves. In order to collect most of these pests, dig trap pits, in which a small amount of well-rotted grass and a piece of raw potatoes should be placed. Above the fossa sprinkled with earth and left for 2-3 days, and then the larvae are removed and destroyed.

Garden slugs are less dangerous than wireworms, however, it’s better to fight them. As a “trap,” you can lay out pumpkin slices in the garden or dig a few tanks of beer near the beds. Slug, gathered overnight for the smell of "trap", easier to collect and destroy. Well help pryvidit slugs from carrot beds needles needles, scattered between rows.

Winter scoop.

It requires an urgent "treatment" - the treatment of all root crops in the garden with a disinfectant.
  • White rot is a consequence of an excess of nitrogen that occurs when a large amount of nitrogen-containing fertilizers. To neutralize this disease, special copper containing preparations should be added to the soil.
  • Bacteriosis and Alternaria (black rot) - diseases arising from the use of low-quality seed material. They can be prevented by pre-disinfection. Treatment - spraying fungicides.
  • Phomosis (or dry rot) is caused by fungal pathogens and is practically not amenable to disinfection. Prevention is pre-fertilization with potassium.
  • Felt disease manifests itself after harvesting carrots and interferes with the storage of root crops. You can fight it by spraying fungicides.

Timely prevention and treatment of these diseases, along with proper care, will allow you to get a harvest of even sweet carrots, which can persist until spring.

When to plant carrots?

Plant carrots for three seasons: spring, summer and autumn. True, in each case, there is a special method of landing. How to plant carrots to get a good harvest in each of the seasons?

Winter carrot varieties

  • Spring is planted in early May - 1-10 numbers. You can follow proverbs, the lunar calendar, or any other, but the time of landing should fall on a period when the earth is already warmed, but not dried from the abundance of the sun.
  • In the summer they plant carrots for subsequent winter storage. As a rule, these are late-ripening varieties. If the spring shoots are scarce or none at all, the second planting can give greater yields. This is done in late June or early July.
  • Before winter, in the fall, seeds are sown, if there is a need for early shoots - the beginning of June. It should be immediately noted that the chance of survival of such carrots is extremely low in the conditions of the middle and northern climatic zones. This is done a week before the first frost (late October - early November). In autumn, only certain varieties can be planted, specially designed for this purpose: “Shantene 2461”, “Nantes 4”, “Moscow Winter”.

How to cook the seeds?

Seeds of carrots germinate for a very long time due to the high content of essential oils in them. Therefore, in order to speed up the aging process, before planting carrots in open ground, seeds are pre-soaked in warm water (+50 degrees). When the water has cooled, they are washed with cold water and dried.

The second option is to germinate the seeds. To do this, they are soaked for 2 hours in water at room temperature. Then pour it on a damp cloth and cover it. Seeds should be kept in a warm place until they swell and hatch, from time to time they are sprayed and stirred so as not to rot. When sprouts appear, it is recommended to determine them for 10 days in the fridge in order to harden well.

Only after one of these procedures can we hope for good, friendly shoots. Otherwise, it will take about 4-7 days longer to sprout.

How to plant carrots?

Every gardener should know about how to plant carrots in order to get a good harvest. What methods are used when sowing seeds?

As a rule, carrots are planted in rows. To do this, make a furrow depth of 2 cm. Then it is watered. And at a distance of 5 cm from each other, you can sow carrots. Some gardeners sow seeds thicker, it is also the correct method. If a person is not sure of the seeds, then rare sowing may not give results at all. A thickened seedlings can, if necessary, thin out. Planted seeds 1 cm sprinkled with earth, compost or biohumus.

Planting carrots in open ground

Seasoned gardeners, answering the question of how to plant carrots, recommend planting it with onions. This can be done either mixed up in the same bed, or a row through the row. Thanks to this method, the smell of onion will scare away some carrot pests.

For landing for the winter using a different method. Garden is preparing for the month. An even place is chosen with light soil. Then they dig it up and fertilize it. After that, the ground must be loosened and furrows are made into which peat is poured. In this state, the bed is left until the sowing of dry seeds.

When the temperature in the street is +5 degrees (but not lower), you can sow the seeds. First, compost or humus is poured into the pits, then seeds are sown. They need to sprinkle with earth on 1 cm and from the top to carry out mulching with peat. In this state, the plant is left for the winter.

How to care for the culture?

To get a good harvest, you need to know not only how to plant carrots, but also how to take care of it. After the carrots are planted behind the bed should be well maintained.

What sort of carrots to choose

Most popular varieties:

It is believed that fresh consumption is suitable:

  • early varieties of carrots (Incomparable, Callisto),
  • mid-season (Vitamin, Moscow, Shantane).

And for winter storage planted late varieties, for example, the Queen of Autumn.

Variety selection depending on region:

  • For regions of Siberia and the Urals, it is preferable to choose mid-season carrot varieties: Altai, Mo.
  • In central Russia and the Volga region, fruit varieties Tushon, Samson, Canada are excellent.

Landing periods

Spring days are traditionally considered the most suitable for planting root crops. However, experienced gardeners know that carrots can also be sown in the fall. When planting carrots, each summer resident decides on his own.

Planting carrots in spring

In order for the sown seeds to ascend more quickly, choose the time when the soil warms up to + 8-10ºС, and the air temperature will not fall below + 13-15ºС.

It must be remembered that carrots are cold-resistant vegetable crops and tolerate frosts down to -6ºС. Therefore, sown at lower temperatures, but then shoots appear later.

In the northern areas it is recommended to focus on the middle of May, in the Urals, it is desirable to hold sowing in early May.

When to plant early carrots in open ground in the Moscow region and central Russia? Sowing root seed is allowed from the second half of April.

In regions where thaws often occur in winter, it is recommended to sow carrots in March.

Autumn sowing

To get a good harvest, it is important to choose the right place for planting carrots at the end of the season. The plot should be horizontal, otherwise the flow of spring water can wash the seeds. The main advantages of autumn sowing:

  • the first harvest can be harvested earlier than usual
  • fruits ripen fairly large,
  • the vegetable is less sick.

No pre-soaking of seeds is required - they are naturally saturated with water and hardened.

It is important to choose the right time when sowing carrots. The main requirement - the culture should not grow to the cold. Shoots should appear only in the spring. Therefore, in different regions, the sowing time is selected individually. In the middle lane, it is preferable to plant the seeds in early November.

Oktyabrina Ganichkina shares tips on sowing carrots for the winter.

You can make and summer crops of carrots (in the northern regions - the beginning of June). This allows you to save the culture from lisobloshki. However, the temperature should be no more than 22 degrees, otherwise the root crop will be rough.

When to plant carrots according to the lunar calendar of 2018

Favorable days for planting carrots in the spring in 2018.

* Data on the calendar Krasnopevtseva

When to plant carrots in 2018 before winter - favorable days.

Days of the new moon and the full moon (work is not recommended for 12 hours before and 12 hours after the onset):

  • March - 17, 2, 31,
  • April - 16, 30,
  • May - 15, 29,
  • June - 13, 28.

Useful information on the signs of the zodiac:

  • At the sign of Sagittarius, carrots and other root vegetables are best watered - the harvest will be high.
  • Capricorn - the leader that promotes the growth of root crops (especially for storage).

Cleaning for storage - September 17, 18, 19.

June 1-15 is a good time to thin carrots.

July 20 - August 1 - harvesting early carrots.

Seed preparation

According to reviews of gardeners, carrot seeds have a low percentage of germination (approximately 55-75%).

It is believed that the seed older than three or four years no longer germinates. Therefore, it is better to use last year’s seeds.

Do I need to soak the carrot seeds? Friendly shoots of a vegetable are difficult to obtain, since essential oils impede the access of moisture to the germ. To wash off the essential oils and accelerate the germination of seed, it is soaked in water. Preparation is done in several ways:

  • Seeds are put in warm water for a day. Moreover, the fluid must be updated every 3-4 hours,
  • during heat treatment, a bag of inoculum is dipped into hot water for 20 minutes (temperature + 45-50ºС). Then the bag is taken out and immediately put in cold water. With this method, there is still a disinfection of seeds.

Seed treatment with growth stimulants - additional preparation of carrot seeds for planting in the spring. Use solutions of different drugs: in a liter of water diluted Planta (1 tsp), Fitosporin (1 tsp).

Prepared seeds can be sown immediately in open ground or additionally germinated - put in a wet cloth and leave in a warm place. If not enough attention is paid to the seed preparation stage, the first shoots of carrots may appear in two or three weeks.

How to prepare a plot for sowing

According to gardeners, the high yield of this vegetable crop is harvested from fertile, loose soil. It is not recommended to make manure on the eve of sowing, otherwise the fruit will grow clumsy forms.

The most suitable soils are light loamy or sandy peaty, having a slightly acid or neutral reaction.

Areas cleared from weeds should be in well-lit places. If you plant a root vegetable on stony dense clay lands, then carrots can grow shallow, ugly and tasteless.

Throughout the season, soil moisture is required, but water should not be allowed to stand on the site. If the ground is plentifully poured after a period of drought, then the vegetables can crack. After you decide when to plant carrots, you should proceed to the preparation of the soil.

Preparing the plot for planting begin in the fall. Carefully choose the rhizomes of weeds, stones (can put develop root crops). The soil is well digged and at the same time add fertilizer.

  • Per square meter beds make a bucket of rotted manure, a tablespoon of superphosphate and potash fertilizers.
  • Heavy soil is desirable to ease: per square meter of space poured across the floor buckets of sand and peat. You can put rotted sawdust - 1-2 liters. Some urea is added to sawdust.

Preparing beds for planting carrots in spring takes less time. It is enough to pour urea onto the surface of the plot (at the rate of 1 tsp per square meter of area) and then loosen the soil well with a rake. On the eve of sowing seeds (for the week), the soil is well watered.

Some gardeners recommend covering the area with a dark plastic wrap to prevent the land from drying out and to ensure its warming.

Seeding options

During sowing should not be densely poured the seeds, so as not to thin out planting in the future. Since pulling out unnecessary sprouts takes a long time and leads to the exposure of the roots of neighboring seedlings.

If pre-sowing material mixed with sand (in a ratio of 1: 5), it will also prevent thickening of the planting.

How to plant carrots?

It should be borne in mind that the bed should consist of about 4 grooves (for planting it was convenient to care for).

The first furrow with a depth of 2-3 cm is carried out at a distance of 10 cm from the edge. It is recommended to adhere to this depth, otherwise the seedlings will appear late (with a strong deepening) or the seeds will die (with small sowing). Between adjacent grooves leave an aisle about 15 cm wide (for early varieties of carrots) and about 20 cm (for later varieties).

Moisten all grooves with hot water. It is recommended to use a weak solution of potassium permanganate for soil disinfection. Then the grooves are lightly powdered with ash or chalk. Seeds are laid out and sprinkled with soil, mulch beds are peat chips.

Several ways to plant carrots in open ground seeds

Many manufacturers sell seed packed in water-soluble tape. These are strips 8 mm wide and 3.5 or 10 m long. Tapes are completely non-toxic and harmless. Thanks to this technique, a uniform seedling seed is obtained.

Moreover, combined tapes are also produced: carrots / onions, carrots / radishes.

Some gardeners fix seeds on toilet paper. In order not to waste time cutting paper, it is recommended to simply fold it in half. To secure the seeds, they are glued inside the paper.

As an adhesive, a special composition is used (1 tsp of flour or starch is brewed in a glass of water). Seeds have a pitch of about 2.5 cm.

An excellent form of hole formation is the use of square carton packaging for eggs, which is placed on loose soil. When it is pressed in, an ideal sowing pattern is created.

If you plant carrots in the cells from under the eggs, then the same distances between the holes are maintained and much less time is spent on planting the seeds.

When choosing a place for carrot beds do not forget about crop rotation.

The best predecessors of carrots are pumpkin, cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes. In order to avoid carrot flies, experienced gardeners recommend planting onions in the aisle.

Carrot bed care

Since carrot seeds germinate slowly, then in the first days after sowing it is important to prevent the soil from drying out. Therefore, it after watering gently loosened.

Seeds usually germinate after one and a half to two weeks. And the first leaves of shoots appear after 10-12 days. At this time you can already gently weed the beds, trying not to damage the young shoots. After a week, you can begin thinning the beds, having previously moistened the soil well.

Weak plants pull upwards. For these purposes it is convenient to use tweezers.

After three weeks, repeated thinning is carried out. But they do it carefully, as in the rare rows, irregularly shaped roots can grow. The optimal distance between the seedlings is 4-5 cm. The pulled plants are necessarily removed from the garden bed.

Today we have disassembled when and how to sow carrots, which is deservedly considered a storehouse of vitamins. Due to the variety of varieties and methods of planting, even a novice gardener will not be difficult to engage in the cultivation of the root.
