Pests and plant diseases

Tobacco dust from pests: application in gardening and reviews

Tobacco dust is a composition of brown color. For the production of such a product using waste from tobacco factories. Dust used by gardeners to avoid pests, it is used for plant nutrition.

In any store for gardeners sold this fertilizer. If you are negative about chemicals, tobacco dust is designed specifically for you.

Tobacco dust in gardening

Few people want to spray their garden and garden with various chemicals to avoid poisoning. Therefore, gardeners have resorted to such solutions: tobacco dust, ash, onion peel.

Tobacco is considered good tool and fertilizing for different types of crops, which affects the yield, helps get rid of insects and pests. A positive point is the low cost of the composition.

Fertilizer composition. The following components are present in tobacco dust:

All these components are needed for proper growth and nutrition of plants. Tobacco dust is also effective. from pests and insects. When using chemical compounds in the soil decomposition products begin to accumulate, and tobacco - no. It copes with weeds, it can be used to treat plants without fear.

How to do the processing correctly

Tobacco treatment has a positive effect on plants and fights against harmful insects.

  • To exterminate the cruciferous flea, should be made pollination. To do this, you need tobacco at the rate of 20 grams per square meter.
  • To exterminate the flea of the hedgehog, you need spraying. It is carried out after the plant has faded. It is undesirable to carry out the procedure when the plant picks up the buds.
  • You can spend and fumigation tobacco. It is better to do this in the evening when the weather is calm. To get rid of aphids, it is better to apply the solution or infusion. To expel the insect permanently, you should repeat the treatment after a week.

Dust can be applied as in liquid form and in powder form. Experts advise to fertilize the soil with the use of fertilizer twice a year. This should be done during the loosening of the earth, the dust must be mixed into the ground. Loosening of the earth is carried out in the fall and spring.

Tip! Before planting bushes of berries or trees, you need to take 500 grams of tobacco dust and pour it on the very bottom of the pit where you are going to plant.

Before you begin to loosen the ground, you should scatter dust on the plot. To plant flowers, it is necessary to mix sand and dust of tobacco in equal proportions. An important point before landing is the destruction of all pests on the site. This must be done before they began to plant their crops.

Before sowing lawn grass fertilizer must be scattered on the soil on which grass carpet will flaunt. After that, mix the outer layer and produce abundant watering.

Tobacco dust used as organic: this procedure should be carried out once every three years, not more often. The dosage taken in the calculation of 40 grams per 1 square meter.

Tobacco dust from pests

Everyone knows that tobacco contains nicotine. It is this substance that actively acts in the fight against most insects. Spraying tobacco solution gives a good result. Fertilizer fights against such insects:

  1. thrips,
  2. ants
  3. fleas
  4. slugs
  5. spider mites,
  6. leafworms.

To prepare the broth, you need to pour one part of tobacco powder with ten portions of water, boil over low heat. It is necessary to boil for 30 or 40 minutes. If the liquid evaporates, it is necessary to add water to the same volumes that were originally.

Broth must insist and strain, then add water to the infusion. Before use add 40 grams of liquid soap to the solution, you can use natural. Soap helps infusion stick to the foliage of trees.

You can make a decoction with onion peel. It will help drive out the tracks that gnaw leaves from your plot. To make an infusion, it is necessary to pour tobacco dust with warm water, the ratio should be 1:10. The solution must be insisted for two days, in the process it should be mixed.

It is recommended to filter through two-layer gauze. Infusion as well as decoction, must be diluted with water. Add liquid soap and begin the spraying process. Do it required twice a day. After the first procedure, you must wait seven days and re-process.

Fumigation occurs smoke from burning tobacco. This method protects well against aphids, moths, suckling and whitefly. Fumigation is done when there is no wind. This procedure is carried out after the trees have faded.

To do this, you need to lay out garbage, branches or dry straw between the beds, above all sprinkle with tobacco, gently set fire. This procedure should be continued from thirty minutes to two hours.

Tobacco dust is a godsend for any summer resident. Inexpensive and effective remedy perfectly copes with the pests of the garden, encroaching on your crop.

The main characteristics of the drug

Tobacco dust is a biologically pure material. It does not contain pathogens. Also completely in its composition there are no weed seeds. It is considered an exceptionally safe means.

In the process of applying this tool in the soil does not accumulate harmful substances. In its composition are easily mineralized forms of macronutrients: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Together they can improve the nutrition of plants, regardless of their species. Such a tool has a beneficial effect on the soil, improving its physico-biological and agrochemical properties.

Drug release form

In gardening and horticulture tobacco dust is used in several forms. When spring digging or fertilizing the soil, this drug is used in the form of a thin dry powder. Filling the soil before winter is made as a crumb. Also the form in the form of a crumb is involved in fumigating the garden with the help of a smoke generator.

The drug can be prepared by yourself. It is used in liquid form. The processing of greenhouse crops is carried out using smoke bombs. On sale means is generally made in a ratio of 1: 1 with slaked lime.

Tobacco dust when eliminating pests

Used primarily tobacco dust from pests against aphids, insects and sucker. They die under the influence of nicotine. Eliminate harmful insects, you can use decoctions and infusions. With their help is carried out pollination of vegetable crops. In gardens, a method such as smoking is employed. In order to destroy the slugs, ants and a cabbage fly, they sprinkle the soil under the plants with tobacco dust. Also pollinate plants in the fight against the cruciferous flea. For these measures, it is enough to use 20 grams of tobacco dust per square meter. meter. Powder is effective for cabbage, radish, turnip and other cruciferous. Tobacco dust is good to use for gladioli, dahlias, irises, peonies, delphiniums and even sorrel.

At the same time, a significant drawback of such measures is their short duration. At the same time, plants become polluted, their physiological activity decreases. In order to avoid these disadvantages, it is better to use pure infusions based on tobacco dust.

Cooking rules

For the preparation of this broth requires 200 g of tobacco dust and 2 liters of water. All this is boiled for 2 hours on low heat, periodically pouring water. After this, the broth is tightly closed, leaving for two days. Then, the resulting mixture should be drained and diluted in 10 liters of water. This solution can be sprayed plants. In order to ensure good adhesion, it is recommended to add a soap solution (laundry soap, laundry detergent) in a small amount. Soap composition can be replaced with liquid baby soap just one teaspoon. You can make a replacement with cheap shampoo, one tablespoon is enough. Such additives contribute to the adhesion of the mixture (adhesion of the solution to plants and pests).

Easier to prepare tobacco infusion, which does not need to boil. For greater efficiency, ash should be added to this solution. All infusions correct to use fresh. Experienced gardeners recommend using them exclusively in the evening. During storage, these infusions have the ability to lose their toxic characteristics. Treating plants with tobacco dust-based decoction is possible for two or five times per season. Every gardener can adjust the frequency independently. This issue takes into account the number of pests.

How to use tobacco dust in gardening

To smoke under the trees, damp straw is laid out, which is sprinkled with tobacco dust and ignited. The process should continue for 2 hours. This procedure is prohibited during the flowering period of plants. This is due to repelling bees from flowers. Fumigation is recommended to carry out after flowering fruit. To perform the fumigation of the garden plot it is required to lay out firewood, bark or shavings in an old bucket or grill.

After the fire breaks out a little, you should sprinkle it with tobacco dust. The process should take from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Should be taken into account, as confirmed reviews gardeners that tobacco dust is a good organic fertilizer. It contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, which are so necessary for plant development. It is used to fertilize flowers, trees, shrubs and vegetables. The norm is the introduction of 100 grams of powder per 1 square. m. It is good to add tobacco powder in the ratio of 1:10 for watering when transplanting indoor plants.

Fertilizer application

When making a lawn, it is recommended to scatter 40 g of tobacco powder over the same area, mix with the soil and spill well. When planting trees in the pit, you can fall asleep 2 cups of tobacco dust, and under the bushes - 1 cup. The advantage of such supplements is that there are no pathogens and weed seeds.

It is possible to use a preparation as fertilizer due to its chemical components. It is saturated with nitrogen from 2 to 5%, potassium from 1 to 3% and phosphorus from 1 to 2%. Substances, penetrating into the soil, can increase its microbiological activity several times. Acting in the complex, they allow to increase the yield of fruits and berries up to 40%. Experts recommend feeding plants with this fertilizer twice a year. This should be done before spring and autumn soil digging.

Tobacco waste application in gardening are an excellent composting tool. It is recommended that they pour each layer of the compost pile. As a result of such contributions, the nutritional content of the contents will increase and the decomposition process will be faster.

Precautions when working with tobacco dust

Care must be taken when using tobacco dust. It is forbidden to make cooking broth in kitchen utensils. Persons prone to allergies should avoid contact with tobacco powder. When working with it is recommended to use a gauze bandage and rubber gloves. Also effective respirator with a mask. If you plan to fumigate the garden, it is better to use a gas mask. If the solution gets on the skin, wash it with clean running water.

Gardeners working with tobacco dust should wear thick trousers and long sleeves. On top of this, you must wear a plastic rain cover to toe. This can exclude its contact with the skin and protect against negative effects. To work with this tool you need to wear high lace-up shoes. It should be made of leather or rubber. You can protect your head with a headdress that closes the hair. Work clothes should not be stored in the living area. It is necessary to change clothes in the economic block.

Gardeners reviews

To date, disputes between gardeners over the use of tobacco dust, which is more effective chemical or organic fertilizers, do not abate. Supporters of organic farming, their reviews indicate the need to resort to chemistry only in extreme cases, when the use of natural remedies did not give the desired effect.

Gardening professionals leave positive reviews about this tool.

Oleg. With it, you can safely destroy harmful insects (aphids, midges, slugs and ground fleas). They need to fight during the growing season. In their reviews, gardeners note that the effect of tobacco powder infusions becomes obvious for 2-3 days. During this time, aphid and all sorts of worms, eating the leaves, die. It is recommended for preventive measures in the garden and treatment. At the same time there is a minimum of harm with benefits for plants. Positively tobacco dust acts against the raspberry beetle. It is necessary to add it in spring or autumn under raspberries when loosening the soil.

Yuri. As farmers say, the drug can be used as an organic fertilizer. Under its influence activates the functioning of soil microorganisms. This improves plant nutrition. This allows you to collect good yields. Indisputable advantages of fertilizer is chemical purity and biological activity. As a result, the gardener gets environmentally friendly products.

Maria. Effective drug in the fight against slugs. Gardeners on their own experience convinced that by spraying for three times with an interval of 7 days, you can completely get rid of pests. A positive point is the acceleration of growth and fruiting berry bushes.

The composition of tobacco dust

This tool is the waste produced in the tobacco industry..

The drug can be found on the shelves of specialty stores in a variety of packaging.

The composition of tobacco dust includes a large number of useful trace elements, potassium, magnesium and nitrogen. They are necessary for plant nutrition. Also, such substances are able to fight insects and pests, do not accumulate in the ground heavy decomposition products, unlike chemicals.

The advantage of the mixture is that it does not come across weed seeds. Tobacco dust is suitable for the treatment of most plants.

We use a preparation for fertilizer

The use of tobacco dust in the garden as fertilizer is often used by gardeners. The chemical composition of the drug contributes to the active growth of plants, and also improves the yield and quality of fruits. Getting into the ground, substances saturate it with microelements and useful minerals.

When using the drug as a fertilizer should adhere to the following recommendations:

  • The drug must be made every time before digging. It is necessary to spray 2–4 g of substance per square meter. m
  • Tobacco dust is added to the soil before planting fruit trees or berry bushes. Approximately 500 g of the drug is poured into each well.
  • The substance is used before sowing lawn grass. Dust is dispersed in the area where it is planned to sow the lawn, after which it mixes with the top layer of earth and is poured with water.
  • You can use the substance for fertilizer soil in pots. Ideally, mix it with sand. Soil, sand and tobacco must be taken in the same proportions.

The use of tobacco dust in the garden plot is carried out not only in the form of top dressing, but also as the main fertilizer. In this case, the drug should not be used more than 1 time in 3 years. The dosage is 40 g per 1 square. m of land.

For processing using this method, you can use tobacco dust in its pure form, and you can mix it in equal proportions with ash or lime. On 1 square. m requires 10-20 g of the mixture. The principle of the method is as follows: the food of insects will be covered with a layer of dust, and they will have nothing to eat. After a while they will start to die. With this method, you can handle plants in open areas and in greenhouses.

Spraying infusions and decoctions

To prepare the broth, you must pour half a glass of a mixture of 1 liter of water. The resulting solution should be boiled for about 30 minutes. In the process of boiling you need to add water to the original level. Ready broth is necessary to insist 24 hours in a place isolated from light. After that, the solution is filtered, topped up with 2 liters of water. Then a small piece of soap, grated on a grated one, is added to it - thanks to it, the broth will be better kept on the leaves.

Spray the plants with the prepared solution. The event is held 2-3 times every 7-10 days. Spraying fruit trees less than 2 weeks before harvesting is prohibited.

Infusion of tobacco for spraying is very similar to decoction. To cook it, you need 2-3 days. It is necessary to pour half a cup of dust into 1 liter of hot water. The solution should be infused for 24 hours. Periodically it needs to be stirred.

When preparing the mixture, it is necessary to set fire to wood, bark and wood chips in the brazier or other iron container, and after a good fire has been made, add a little tobacco dust to it. The process of fumigation itself can take from 30 minutes to several hours.

If the fight is conducted in a closed greenhouse with aphids and whiteflies, it is necessary to use the following proportion: 10 g per 1 square meter. m. You can not carry out the procedure less than 3 days before the start of sowing.

Against whom it is best to use the tool

Tobacco dust is used against many pests.

Consider how to deal with specific insects.

  • Cruciflo flea. To combat these pests need to dust the mixture from a flow rate of 20 g per 1 square. m
  • Medianitsy. The fight is carried out by spraying at the time when the separation of the buds. You can also perform fumigation, but only after the end of flowering, in the evening in the absence of wind.
  • Small moth. It is necessary to carry out spraying infusion.

  • Aphid. The plant is treated with decoction or infusion. The procedure must be repeated in a week.
  • Spider mite Plants must be treated with decoction. After 7 days, the procedure is repeated.
  • Cabbage fly. Tobacco dust is poured on the ground around the plant within a radius of 5 cm. Previously it must be mixed with lime or ash. Consumption - 20 g of the mixture per 1 square. m
  • Slugs The fight is carried out by dusting. The procedure should be carried out in the evening - it is then that the slugs are located on the plants. To achieve the result, it is necessary to carry out 2 treatments.
  • Ants The procedure is the same as in the fight with cabbage flies.
  • Tobacco dust is an excellent tool to get rid of many pests and insects.

    What is this remedy?

It is a tobacco powder ground into fine dust, a widely used organic preparation for caring for different plants, helping to increase yields and being a natural insecticide. It is considered a very effective and inexpensive raw material for fertilizing crops and protecting them from pests. Convenient to use and maintain the tool can be used in the liquid state and in the form of a powder.

    Application as top dressing

The use of tobacco dust as a fertilizer has become permissible due to its chemical composition, which includes the substances necessary for the normal formation of plants:

In addition, the elements that tobacco dust contains (from pests it helps very well), penetrating the soil, significantly improve its microbiological activity. The complex effect has a positive effect on the increase in yield (up to 40%) of vegetables, fruits and berries.

    When to fertilize?

Professionals are advised to fertilize crops with tobacco twice a year, before the autumn and spring soil loosening. How exactly do this?

    1. Before planting berry bushes or fruit trees, 500 g of tobacco should be poured at the very bottom of the planting pit.
    2. Before each digging ground, 2-4 g of dust should be dispersed into any square meter. m territory.
    3. When breeding flowers in flowerpots, the soil is required to be mixed with tobacco dust and sand to fill the containers, selecting all components in equal shares.
    4. Before starting to set up lawns in the garden area, pest control is carried out as follows: before sowing the ground with lawn grass, the top dressing should be dispersed on the ground where the lawn will form, and then mix the outer layer of soil and produce abundant watering.

If tobacco dust is used not as a fertilizer, but as the main organic matter, then its introduction should be done no more than once every 3 years with a dosage not exceeding 40 g per 1 square meter. m of soil.

    Pest control

Nicotine itself, which is present in tobacco, is harmful to most insects, such as aphids, leafworms, suckers, ants, and many more. Processing of crops can be done by several methods:

    • fertilizer
    • by spraying
    • fumigation.

Tobacco dust is considered a natural fertilizer that improves the richness of the soil and provides the plant with good nutrition due to the presence of potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus in it. Organic matter does not require initial preparation and processing, can be applied in a mixture with chicken manure or manure.

Fine-granulated powder, which contains tobacco dust from pests, is added in small amount (3 g per 1 sq. M) to the ground during the period of autumn-spring gardening. When planting large fruit trees, about 3-4 kg of the product are poured into the pits, and 500-600 g are added to the depressions prepared for planting small bushes. To feed the potted flowers, tobacco powder interferes with the soil and sand in equal parts. Before planting a lawn grass, experts advise you to sprinkle the surface of the lawn with a preparation in a volume of 2 liters. After that, you need to dig up the soil a little and pour it well.

Adding an article to a new collection

Tobacco dust in horticulture and horticulture has been used for a long time, and it has already managed to establish itself as an effective tool for pest control, as well as organic fertilizer.

When working with tobacco dust, it is important to remember that if it comes into contact with the skin or mucous membranes, it can cause allergic reactions. Therefore, you need to work with it in gloves. It is also advisable to use a mask or respirator.

    Tobacco dust decoction

Tobacco decoction is easy to prepare. 1/2 cup of tobacco dust must be poured over 1 liter of water and boiled for half an hour, adding water to the original level. The broth must be insisted for another day, and then filtered and diluted with water 1: 2. In order to better decorate the leaves on the leaves during spraying, you can add 10 g of soap to it.

Broth tobacco dust effective in the fight against aphids. Spraying of the plants on the leaves is carried out at intervals of 10 days.

If your site has long been seriously chosen by an aphid, you can also plant beside vegetables, which are attacked more often than others, onions and garlic.

Houseplants, which were attacked by a spider mite, are treated with a decoction of tobacco dust every 10 days. Allowed no more than 3 sprays.

    Tobacco dust infusion

Infusion of tobacco dust is prepared within 1-2 days. To do this, 1/2 cup of tobacco dust is poured over 1 liter of hot water. In the finished filtered infusion add 2 liters of water and 10 g of soap.

With this infusion, fruit trees can be processed after flowering to protect them from the sucker.

They can also spray the plants on which the aphid has settled (twice per season with a difference of 7-10 days).

"Word of mouth" recommends the use of tobacco dust infusion in the fight against the Colorado potato beetle.

To combat beet flea, you can spray plants with infusion of ash and tobacco dust (1: 1). 400 g of the mixture is drawn in 10 l of water for two days, then the solution is filtered, diluted with water 1: 2 and 40 g of soap is added. It is recommended to spray beet leaves 2-3 times with an interval of 5-8 days. However, it is important to remember that after such processing the beet tops cannot be eaten.

    Dusting tobacco dust

It is possible to dust plants and soil with tobacco dust no more than 2 times per season at the rate of 1/4 cup of tobacco dust per 1 sq. M. Efficiency increases if tobacco dust is mixed with slaked lime or ash 1: 1. This method helps to fight the cruciferous flea (20 g per square meter), cabbage fly (20 g per square meter), slugs (25 g per square meter).

To combat the raspberry beetle in late autumn or early spring, when loosening the soil, you can add tobacco dust or charcoal to it.

Tobacco dust is perfect for scaring strawberry leaves, but it is advisable to use this method only in early spring, as tobacco can worsen the taste of berries.

Onion hover also dislikes the smell of tobacco dust. Repeatedly powdered planting to fight this insect can be no earlier than one week after the first procedure.

    Tobacco dust as a fertilizer

Despite the fact that tobacco dust contains nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, as a separate fertilizer, it is usually not used, but added to mineral fertilizers. Before planting trees and shrubs in the planting hole, you can add 1/2 cup of tobacco dust. In the ground for the lawn - 30 g of tobacco dust per 1 sq. M. When transplanting plants on 10 liters of soil make 1/2 tsp. tobacco dust.

Even more popular recipes for plant nutrition, as well as for pest control, read our previous publications:

Video: pest control with tobacco dust

Note: Tobacco dust is also included as a component in a number of complex drugs of agrochemistry (pos. 5, 6, etc.). Of these, on a small, well-groomed plot, up to 20–30 acres, and especially on a very small (6–12 hectare) under polyculture (cottage, garden), recently Kazakh Nasvay has very well established itself (see the figure on the right). Its regular use allows us to maintain the fertility of intensively used land year after year, reducing the cost of such quite expensive means of soil recultivation as humates by two or three times.

How to choose the main component

There is nothing in the purchased preparations with tobacco dust (except complex specialized ones) that you wouldn’t be able to cook with your own hands at home: the components can be purchased separately and mixed dry, and then, if necessary, prepare liquid forms of them, see further. To do this, however, a separate ventilated room is required: tobacco dust in large packaging is not plasticized, not passivated, it is very, very necessary to protect the respiratory organs and skin from it.

The use of homemade blends with tobacco dust is even more justified on large areas, if there is a separate ventilated room for preparing blends - agricultural tobacco preparations in sachets are packaged from 260 g to 1.5 kg, which is expensive per hectare. You just need to choose the right main component - the most dust. This is not difficult: in large packaging, tobacco dust is sold in bags, one of which in the warehouse will probably be opened, in medium and small for self-preparation - in plastic bags (on the left in the figure). And there, and there it will be immediately clear what to take.

It is best to buy dust that is already mixed with lime: it is reddish, lumpy, not dusty and with fingers it is taken as a pinch, pos. 1 in pic .:

Forms of dry tobacco dust for self-preparation of drugs from it

Maxillary dust slightly greenish with yellow (pos. 2). The dust of the tobacco is not mixed with lime, and it is taken as a scattering by a pinch: it is poured out of slightly squeezed fingers. Crumbs are not a waste of production, but a marriage of cigarettes torn during packing, unfolded cigars and substandard pipe tobacco, its color is the same as smoking tobacco (pos. 3) and it is also taken: not with a pinch, but not completely with a drop.

Tabazoles can also be purchased not packaged, but by weight, it will be much cheaper than drugs in packages. Here you need to look at the ash with which the base is mixed: the best weighed out tabazol is gray (pos. 4), on the stove wood ash. In the "appetizing" brown tabazol (pos. 5), ash of grassy annuals (mostly sunflower) is added, and as a fertilizer it is less effective.

    Against whom to apply?

By virtue of the above circumstances, tobacco dust insecticide is rather selective. Therefore, you must first decide who harms, and prepare the drug for a specific pest.

The most effective tobacco dust against cruciferous pests such as the jumping bug cruciferous flea and cabbage fly. But the methods of attacking plants are different, and therefore methods of controlling them with tobacco dust are different.

A dry mixture of tobacco dust, slaked lime, wood ash and phosphate flour 3: 1: 1: 1 is prepared against a cruciferous flea (see fig. On the right). If the mixture is made on the basis of the finished tabazol, you need to mix the components 1: 1: 1: 1 and add 2 parts of tobacco, or, better, tobacco dust of 1: 1. Plants in the morning pollinated from garden pollinator in the calculation of 20 g (1/8 cup) / 1 square. m leaf area. More about the fight with cruciferous flea using tobacco dust; see video:

Video: tobacco dust against cruciferous flea

Note: garden pollinator is not cheap, it gives a pretty strong jet, and the drug consumption will be exceeded. It's okay, but to spend less powder, you can, if you have a car compressor, make a sandblasting machine of propylene water pipes and pollinate it. You can even without a compressor - use the “tobacco jet” from a large medical syringe for vaginal irrigation. And it is not necessary to remove the tip from it - there are grooves on it through which air passes into the hose and the apparatus. It is only necessary to put a ball check valve at the air inlet of the pollinator, and directly in front of it - an air flap valve, so that the syringe can suck in fresh air.

Against cabbage fly (see fig. Right) you need a mixture of tobacco or tobacco dust with lime 1: 1. In the evening she was dusting the soil around the plants with the removal of 4-5 cm outside the contour of the bush. Consumption - 20 g per 1 square meter. m of land. Instead of a powder you can use a frequent sieve. After 2 weeks, dusting is repeated, but no more! The maximum frequency of processing any tobacco dust preparations - 2 times per season!

Against all kinds of aphids (top row in fig., Except for the right fragment) and thrips (below in fig. Below), tobacco dust or tobacco-makhorochnuyu (from thrips) dust without impurities is used in the form of infusion or decoction, see below. The infusion is more effective because It saves more active substances, but it is prepared 2-3 days, and not an hour, as a decoction. The drug is sprayed on the plants in the usual way (fruit plants - before budding): preferably in the evening, the stream is “foggy”, very small. The consumption rate - before settling on the leaves of drizzle, as soon as the first droplets have formed - this is enough. Vegetable process no earlier than 2-3 weeks before the start of the collection of the first fruits.

Aphids, whitefly (above) and thrips (below) on plants

Tobacco-makhorochny brew takes and tobacco trips, bottom right of fig. The fact is that the concentration of nicotinoids in tobacco during its fermentation and drying on the smoking increases several times. The pest from the tobacco infusion is waiting for the same end as the bastards, who have eaten the infamous Hawthorn instead of the normal kazenka. But against whiteflies (at the top right of the figure), a colony of which an inexperienced person can take for aphids without tobaccoing, tobacco preparations (like many other contact insecticides) have little effect: these “pests” are well protected by the “cloak” of rather dense wings. Tobacco against whitefly is effective only as a prophylactic fumigation of indoor facilities, see below.

Note: fruit after ottsvetaniya it is desirable to guarantee to fumigate, as against a sucker, see below.

One of the most dangerous pests of fruit - caterpillars of moths:

Butterfly codling moth and its caterpillar - "worm"

"Worms", already infiltrated into the fruit, lime, without depriving the crop of fitness for food, it is impossible. The imago moths (adults flying and breeding individuals) are clearly visible only in the pictures (pos. 1 in the figure), and in nature they are perfectly masked and well protected (pos. 2). Therefore, tobacco with moth fight in the form of strong infusion of clean dust: 150 g of the component is poured over 1 liter of hot, still soaring (70-80 degrees) boiled water and for 24 hours insist in a covered dish in a dark place. Then the infusion is filtered into a plastic bucket, topped up with water to the top and immediately sprayed - the finished product is not stored! Garden processing is carried out twice: the first time 2 weeks before flowering, again for the second time immediately after the separation of the buds, i.e. after leaving them on the peduncle (on the column) and highlighting the receptacle on them, but before the start of blooming. It is necessary to spray the whole tree or bush, because moths lay their eggs in bark cracks near the forming fruit.

Fruit crops from copper plants (see fig. Below) are sprayed with usual infusion or decoction of tobacco dust, see below. Processing time - isolation of buds, the scheme is normal. To guarantee after the start of the formation of the ovaries, they choose a quiet, warm, not hot day (or evening) and fumigate the plantings, see below.

Tobacco dust is an effective remedy for all types of slugs that harm the garden (see the following figure), but under the condition of 2-fold processing: the first portion causes a protective reaction in the slugs in the form of copious mucus secretion and discharge of the mucous membrane, this is to some extent similar nausea and man for the first time smoked up. But the period of getting used to nicotinoids in slugs, like in humans, is zero: the second dose is already a great success, but now, unlike us, with a fast end that is inevitable for the mollusk.

    Slugs of different types

Tobacco slugs use tobacco dust in a mixture with hydrated lime 1: 1 - this mixture dries out soft and reduces their ability to form mucus. The soil around the plants is powdered, as against a cabbage fly, at the rate of 25-30 g per 1 square meter. m of soil. Dusting is carried out in a quiet, warm and humid weather, favorable for the slugs in the evening and repeated the next day.

Ants pests, gnawing fruit, and their anthill

Shepherd ants are fought with tobacco in the same way as a cabbage fly, sprinkling tobacco dust on the ground around the affected plants. At the same time, it is necessary to fight against aphids, but it is not worthwhile to completely torment the shepherd ants - they are useful in the wild. But it is necessary to fight the ants with fruit gnaws mercilessly. Especially because, for example. yellow garden ant thief and pharaohs ant, as shown by modern studies, are carriers of a number of infectious diseases.

Dumpling tobacco dust against earth ants

So against the gnawing fruits of the ants, it is highly desirable to make a talker of tobacco dust (preferably from Tabagora, see fig. On the right), find a pest nest (pos. 2 in the picture above) and at night, when the insects are sleeping, pour the ant hill and the ground Around him. A talker of tobacco dust against ants represents its cooled decoction.

Gardeners, flower growers and gardeners know how difficult it is to fight with spider mites. Their pioneer first settlers (pos. 1 in the figure on the right) are defenseless, but isolated and barely noticeable due to their tiny size, 0.05–1 mm. And when a colony forms and stretches a spider shield over itself, it becomes vulnerable only to strong toxic chemicals — acaricides, saturating the plants with them.

    Spider mites on plants

In addition, spider mites - pests of fruit, almost always settle on the underside of the leaves (pos. 2), where the sprayer spray is bad. Therefore, tobacco dust with spider mites is also fought in two ways: by spraying, as from thrips, and, 1-2 days later, by fumigation. Sessions of treatment are carried out twice: at isolation of buds (from pioneer individuals) and on flowering of plants.

Note: fumigate plants from ticks better smoke smoke "Hephaestus", see below. Checkers can be fumigated not only trees, but also low berry bushes.

    Infusion and decoction

A decoction of tobacco dust is preparing a trace. in the following way:

    1. A glass of tobacco dust (Tabazol and Tabagora - 2 glasses) is poured with 2 liters of water,
    2. Put the dishes on the fire. While stirring, bring the mixture to a boil and boil for half an hour. Water instead of evaporated topped up hot to the initial level,
    3. Dishes with broth cover and leave to cool for a day,
    4. Cold broth is filtered into a 5-liter plastic bucket and, with stirring, topped up with water,
    5. In a separate bowl dissolve in hot water 1-1.5 Art. l laundry soap powder
    6. Soaping solution with stirring pour into the broth,
    7. Immediately after preparing the broth, they are processed.

The infusion is prepared in the same way, only the original ingredient is taken 1.5-2 times more and poured with hot boiled water, see above. To stand an infusion of clean tobacco or tobacco dust should take 2 days, tabazole and tabagora - a day. Instead of a soap solution, you can add liquid baby soap (1 tsp.) Or the cheapest shampoo (1 tbsp. L.), The addition of detergents increases the adhesive ability of the mixture (simply sticking to plants and pests).

Note: the dishes in which tobacco dust preparations were made are no longer suitable for food and household purposes!

    Nontrivial application

Tobacco dust is successfully used to clean the soil from residues of weeds or woody materials in preparation for the reclamation of waste land and empty logging quarters. The role of tobacco dust in this case - the activation of bacteria - destructors of cellulose. When they do their job, a favorable environment will be created for the work of soil-forming bacteria.

A plot / quarter after plowing or taking out the last forests is given 10 days to relax - 2 weeks. Then, to activate bacteria destroying cellulose, tobacco dust is introduced in shock doses: on the 10th day after plowing the area or clearing the quarter, 200 g / sq. Each. m, and 6 weeks after it - 500 g / sq. m, see fig. (The numbers above the chart are days from the start of the experiment. The destruction of cellulose residues in the ground and their conversion into nutrients for soil formers over 2 months is accelerated several times compared to the ground left just under steam.

Activation of cellulose-disrupting microorganisms using tobacco dust

It seems that no one has yet tried this technique on small areas for commodity or for own consumption polyculture - it is scary to shove tobacco into the earth in such quantities. But the time factor works on the small private owner in this case: the treatment can be carried out before winter, since pay the owner for rent and to the treasury for the use of space, more profit is not bringing, he does not need. For cultivated land, such processing is clearly unacceptable, but suddenly you got a stumpy, weed-over land, you can mow, smell and pour tobacco from the soul, as indicated, during the winter. In the spring, in this case, it will be necessary to add potassium humate to the soil - it will help in the living environment prepared by soil formers, which structures it. And suddenly failure - nothing terrible: during the winter and spring tobacco dust will completely rot and dissipate. In general, if you have in mind the appropriate inconvenience, you should try.

    Application of the remedy

Tobacco dust is industrial waste of the respective factories, having the appearance of dust and color corresponding to the feedstock. In addition to tobacco, its composition also includes: nitrogen (up to 5%), potassium (up to 3%), phosphorus (up to 2%).

Prikormka is sold in any specialized store, its application can be found in this article, and it is very easy to treat it with a plot from a pest or for feeding plantings. Storage conditions are simple: keep the dry mass should be closed.

Tobacco dust - industrial waste from respective factories

To understand why this additive is needed, it’s worth finding out only two things:

    • Putting it in the ground during digging will increase the yield by 40%, because it contains a considerable amount of useful substances.
    • As an insecticide, this tool will expel most of the pests, save vegetables, fruits, berry bushes, flowering vegetation from the sucker, aphids, flea beetles, thrips.

To understand what its features, you should know:

    • Tobacco dust can be used even during fruit ripening, when it is forbidden to spray them with most other products.
    • It is completely natural, safe for humans and plants.

    Fertilizing tobacco-ash plants

Tobacco is used in the garden as a fertilizer due to its components. They enhance the activity of microorganisms in the soil and have a positive effect on plants. For top dressing it is added to the soil twice a year (in spring and autumn before digging), and as the main fertilizer - once in three years (up to 40 g / sq. M).

As a fertilizer of cultivated plants, the tool should be applied:

    • before each digging up of the earth (to disperse 2–4 g of dust per sq. m), combining in the fall with potash, phosphorus preparations, in the spring - with nitrogen,
    • before planting berry bushes, ornamental, fruit trees (0.5 kg of tobacco is placed on the bottom of the planting pit),
    • before the start of the lawn arrangement - before sowing the lawn grass, disperse the substance over the territory of the site (30–40 g / sq. m), then loosen the top layer of the earth and water it abundantly,

    • nurture potted flowers — mix earth with sand and tobacco dust to fill them,
    • caring for spring and winter wheat varieties (4 kg per 10 sq. m of field).

Tobacco wastes are rarely used in pure form, most often they are added to mineral fertilizers (to saltpeter).

    Parasite tobacco use

Tobacco dust is an effective remedy for pests of the garden. Its nicotine (1%) is poisonous to unwanted insects. The treatment of plantations can be carried out both in the open area and in greenhouse conditions. They do this in three ways: during the growth period, the plantings are sprayed (infusion, decoction), fumigated or pollinated.

What pests are the best to use against?

Tobacco dust acts from a number of parasites:

    • Aphid - sprayed with infusion or decoction of the leaves. A week and a half repeat the process.
    • Small moth. Prepare the infusion for spraying green mass. To do this, pour 0.15 kg of tobacco with hot water, insist 24 hours. Then filtered and adjusted to a volume of 10 liters.
    • Ants, cabbage and onion flies, moths, midges. The land within a radius of about five centimeters around the greenery is powdered with tobacco dust, in equal amounts combined with ash or lime (mixture consumption - 20–25 g / sq. M). Another method is dusting the root of the plant necks twice in the summer season. Consumption rate - 10 g of funds per square meter,
    • Medianitsa. The pest is destroyed by spraying the stands in the bud formation phase or by fumigation after flowering. The procedure takes place in the evening with no wind.
    • Spider mites on indoor flowers. The procedure is performed by decoction, after the detection of the first infected foci. After 7–10 days, the process is performed a second time, and the third, as needed.
    • Whitefly, thrips, moths, caterpillars, ringed silkworm, slugs. The treatment is carried out by spraying the mixture of the drug and lime (in equal proportions). Consumption rate - 20–30 g / sq. The procedure is performed in the early morning or late evening in calm, calm weather.
    • Gooseberry moths, raspberry beetle - infusion treatment during bud break.
    • Cruciform flea. For their destruction, dusting is carried out every 40 days (20 g / sq. M). The mixture is made combined with a share of lime or phosphorite flour.

Between treatments of certain crops, you need to take a break of at least 15 days (cabbage, fruit-bearing, tobacco). Some flowers (carnations, gladioli, irises, dahlias, peonies) are treated from parasites with tobacco dust only before flowering and after it.
